Christina Aguilera Not Beating Her Son

After photos of Max Bratman surfaced with the 3 year old sporting a black eye, Media Takeout got a little carried away and said Christina Aguilera was responsible for the black eye, as in a beating kind of way. Christina says Max was running in the park chasing squirrels and tripped and got the black eye. That story sounds plausible, but what did he bang his eye on? Tell me the last time you fell on the ground and got a black eye. Think of a way it is possible. You would have to fall and use your face to break the fall rather than another part of the body. That is the reason we hold out our hands when we fall, because the body will sacrifice a broken hand for the safety of an eye or face.

It is not that I don't believe Christina's version of events, although she was probably not there to view it if it happened at any time during happy hour or the hours following it. He could have tripped and fell and hit his face on a bench? A knee?

  1. I got a black eye when I walked into a metal basketball pole at the playground. Not recently, about 38 years ago.

  2. Oh come on. Kids are getting banged up all the time. Sure, as an ADULT I don't fall as much as I used to, but that's because I don't run around like a little maniac anymore. No story here, move along.

  3. She would be REALLLLY dumb if she caused it and took her son out and about. I would think that any abuser would hide the kid till he healed completely to avoid being caught.

  4. Christina's lawyer said in a letter to MTO that he was at the park with his nanny and his face hit a rock. No broken bones, just a black eye. She may take legal action for the accusation. Implying someone is abusing their child is completely over the line especially given her background of child and domestic abuse.

And Christina was working in Spain when everything happened.

  5. Listen I have a 5 year old boy and 19 month old twin boys and they get scraps and bruises all the time!!! Are you kidding me, you turn your back and they are jumping on the couch and before you get there..boom someone falls off the couch or someone is running, trips on thier sandals and boom bit thier eye against the garage door. Hello whoever wrote this does not have little kids!

  6. I understand it perfectly. I was once in a car accident where a fire extinguisher bracketed to the front window area popped free and banged me high on the forehead. As the brusing formed, I ended up with two black eyes and it looked as if I had been beaten.

He could have tripped, conked his head, landed on his face ... any of those would cause that. If you look at the picture closely, he's green around the nose as well and I'm guessing the bruising is on the other side of his face, too.

This is a horrendous accusation to make and is obviously by people who haven't had kids ... otherwise they would understand that little bodies can take all sorts of weird falls and end up with weirder bruises.

Shame on Media Take Out, and Enty, I'm a little surprised by your comments on this one.

  7. My kid fell face first on the concrete driveway without putting his hands out to brace his fall. I saw the whole thing as it happened and then watched as a purple goose egg began protruding from his forehead.

Kids do weird crap so who knows how Max got a black eye. Christina may have her issue(s), but I don't for one second believe she's responsible.

  8. Yep kids are kids and they fall and get bruises! Pretty common.

  9. even if he didn't hit is eye, if he bonked his little nosey hard enough, it could definitely give him that nasty black eye. i think if she had been responsible, she would have kept him hidden until it cleared up. you wouldn't BELIEVE the crazy stuff my kids do, and they mystery bruises they come up with! when it comes to injuries, kids are pretty darn creative!

  10. By the time I turned 10, I had already acquired two black eyes, a busted lip, and stitches in my chin (twice) and forehead -- and ALL of those injuries were the result of my own recklessness or carelessness. Kids are dervishes with insane amounts of energy, and are prone to falling down or running headlong into things. End of story.

I agree with the poster who mentioned how shameful these charges are when you take into consideration Christina's own abusive childhood. I think she should sue the shit out of MTO, personally.

  11. I agree with everyone else. Kids have all kinds of crazy accidents that cause black eyes. One of my coworkers tripped and fell off an NYC sidewalk and had 2 black eyes. Accidents happen.

  12. I was a student trainer for a college athletic department for a year. We had many players get black eyes without ever getting hit in the eye, most of them got hit square on the nose with a football, volleyball, baseball, whatever (you don't always have time to put your hands up). My mother had nasal surgery and ended up with two horribly purple black eyes. There are any number of ways that injury could have happened and I hope Christina goes after MTO for a huge sum of cash, then donates it to something worthwhile like Carol Burnett did.

  13. Also agree that it's an accident. I have 3 boys and they've all had black eyes at some point. When my oldest was 3 he fell at pre-school and hit his forehead right in the middle, above his eyes on the wooden edge of the sandbox. He had a big goose-egg on his forehead that went down fairly quickly, but he had 2 black eyes that look exactly like Christina's boy.

  14. One doesn't have to be hit in the eye to have a black eye or two. Anywhere on the upper area of the face should do it. Sleeping on one pillow or none will help with the formation of a black eye or two. I think cold compresses and sleeping propped up helps to avoid black eyes.

Active kids manage to have at least one bruise going at all times. Drinking orange juice helps the bruises disappear faster.

  15. Yeah, like others said, you can get a black eye from being conked in the nose or the forehead. When my sister was just a little older she ran her sled into a tree and came away with two black eyes.

This is really stretching to automatically jump for the abuse explanation.

  16. She probably has a nanny or 2 with her and that kid at all times, so she can't lay a hand on him without there being a witness. She's part of young Hollywood. They can't raise a kid on their own.

Also...he probably got hit in the nose, which can cause a black eye....or even 2 black eyes.

  17. My annual photo holiday card for about 10 years always had at least one child out of four sporting a black eye/bruised forehead/cast/swollen lip. Active children get boo-boo's. Children who are not allowed to run around and play may escape more of the injuries and bruises, but mine have grown up quite nicely.

We can talk about a whole bunch of issues about Xtina, but I do not think abusive Mom is one of them. She should sue the crap out of MTO and anyone else who says otherwise. My son made five trips to the emergency room for all kinds of crazy stuff before the age of 4. Children can do some crazy stuff at times.

  19. My 10 year old nephew ran into a mailbox and had a black eye just like that. I'd have to see a LOT more bruises before I'd suspect child abuse in this situation.

  20. I kept one of my kids out of preschool one time because he was so banged up, I thought the teachers might ask questions, lol. He had a busted up lip due to a fight with his brother over a picture book, and bruised ribs from falling on his two-foot-long metal fire truck. Plus his other usual assortment of bruises and scrapes. So yeah, it can happen, and it's totally plausible.

  21. Little kids don't hold their arms out when they fall. They faceplant it right on to the grass, concrete whatever. Believe me - just dealt with my 3 year old face planting on concrete a few weeks ago. fat lip and scraped cheek - had he fallen differently, it would have been a black eye.

  22. My older child got his biggest black eye from climbing up the stairs then slipping and landing on the edge of the stair. It was so huge and lasted for longer than a week. Oh, let children be themselves. You can not protect them from everything

A few years ago I fainted at a bus stop, apparently fell over like a domino, and woke up face down on the pavement. I had two black eyes. I believe it. She may be a drunk and a druggie and a ho, but she's most likely not a child beater.

  25. Please, my husband's grandsons are banged-up beyond belief...just by being boys.

  26. Goodness gracious! As much as I dislike CA, I have had children and kids are NOT coordinated in any way...
    NOT an issue!
And besides, CA can afford all the nannies in the world... She prob wasn't e'en with the kid when this happened.
Other than travelling, we rarely see CA "hanging" with her spawn...

  27. "What did he bang his eye on?"

A huge fallen tree branch? One of those sticking-up-out-of-the-ground-all-gnarly-and-bumpy tree roots? It's entirely plausible.

  28. @selenakyle~OMG I was just going to post about her hair, it looks like fried hay!!! nasty

Kids get black eyes all the time, running into stuff and falling.

  29. I gave myself a huge black eye this spring by trying to cut a big branch on a bush with clippers that were too small. I knew they weren't quite up to the job, but I was almost done and didn't feel like going into the garage for the bigger ones. The recoil when that branch finally snapped threw those clippers right into my temple and seriously made me see stars.

  30. Why are we even discussing this? He is an innocent child. Police have not made accusations or filed charges, so why are we talking about this non-story?

I am glad I am not a celebrity, or else the pictures of my kids with every kind of cut, bruise, black eye, fat lip, etc...would be splashed across the internet, alluding that I had done it. If you have kids, you would know this happens all the time!

Oh...and by the way...kids don't generally try breaking their falls. They are closer to the ground and generally just bounce right back up. It's adults that try breaking their falls and end up breaking a limb or a hip.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with everyone and also want to add it does look like he face planted on his nose, you can see the black-blue line which would definitely give a kid black eyes. Fortunately kids' bones are still soft and malleable so I doubt he broke it.

Shameful story. Not a fan of hers by any means, but for shame.

  32. Yeah, what everyone else said. Just a couple of days ago, I witnessed my 16 - month old niece trip on her own foot and fall head first into the lower step of a carpeted staircase. She now sports a black eye and her mother is so worried that people are going to think she abuses her baby...*L*

    ReplyDelete
  33. The kid clearly has a broken nose. In both sets of photos from yesterday and today that I've seen his nose is really swollen and both eyes are black. That's classic broken nose. I agree little boys get bruised up all the time by just playing and I'm sure no foul play happened here but why lie about the broken nose?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I hope CA sues the hell out of Media Takeout. Like everyone else that has posted here, kids hurt themselves all the time. Plus, abusive parents, especially those who are "somebody" don't put easily visible bruises on their kids' faces. Abused kids have bruies on their backs, abdomens, and upper arms.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just from watching my friends kids, I know they get hurt so easily. Children don't put their hands out because they are generally too focused on what they are doing. They are on the ground before they even know they are falling. Two of the guys I work with have daughters and they are just as active as my other work colleagues sons.
My mum got two black eyes and a huge egg on her forehead when the thing above a sliding door fell on her face when she was trying to replace it. I was home when it happened, but we were all terrified someone would think Dad hit her. The egg on the forehead was so bad she had to get it drained.

  37. All my BFFs (all mamas) were with me this weekend and one said that her son (who is just over 1) has already had three black eyes. Kids are rough and tumble. I shall not judge Xtina for this.

    ReplyDelete
  38. When my now 23 year old son turned 2 he was so accident prone we had him to the emergency department 3 times in 2 weeks and the last time they wouldn't let me be in the room with him and they asked him who kept hurting him. The one time he was watching my hub mow the lawn and there was a crack in the glass and he cut his chin, had to get stitches, another time he was running to give me a hug (I miss those days) and tripped over his feet and put his tooth through his lower lip and the last time he was standing watching tv and he heard his dad come home and took off running, fell and cut the side of his head on the living room coffee table. So kids can get hurt badly doing the most innocent of things. It killed me when someone thought I would hurt my child, I never spanked either of my babies and if someone would have printed that in a paper I would sue their ass off

Many of us many not be keen on Xtina, but I don't see her being an abusive mother. I would be very surprised if she were. Kids fall down all the time. I broke a tooth on the back of a bus seat many years ago. Stuff happens. Max probably tripped on an exposed tree root. No cause for alarm.

  40. Kids get black eyes from falling down all the freaking time. If you knew anything about children Enty, you would know that. There are times when conjecture is cool, and times when you need a kick in the head; this is a time when the latter is appropriate.

  41. jeez - my twins are constantly bumped and bruised. they're girls and have had several black eyes and girls are supposed to be calmer than little boys (not by much though)

    non-story. move along.

  42. My oldest started walking at 8 months, was running by 9 and never stopped. They say certain injuries are most likely child abuse. Bruises on the lower back and butt are examples. I lived in fear that someone was going to take my kid away. There was no place on his body that was immune.

  43. My eldest daughter had to be put in a cast at age 3 months for foot correction followed by 2 years of corrective foot wear. The three months she was in a cast were the worst time in my life. I tried to explain the circumstances behind the cast, but that began to sound like a lame story, and after the first week I just didn't bother any more. It didn't help that I was really young and unmarried, so whenever we went any where I would get those nasty looks flashed at me by everyone mentally accusing me of child abuse. I even had neighbors call social services on me--not that they had ever heard my baby cry or had ever seen me hit her...but there was that cast and the only logical explanation had to be that I was beating my infant. I may not like Snookitina too much, but she gets a pass on this one.

  44. This makes me so defensive, as a mom. My 4 year old fell off a chair (he was just sitting) and smacked his face on the concrete. Half of his face was swollen, he had a black eye, bruising all over, and knocked a tooth loose. If anyone had insinuated it was from me, I would have been devastated. Kids get bruises, cuts, scrapes and bumps all the time. How dare you question that, with no good cause.

  45. I got a black eye walking through a parking lot. I was overloaded with a heavy backpack on my back (obvs., carrying additional books and my purse. I tripped on the edge of a pothole and face planted. Broke my pair of maui jim's in the process.

Everyone thought my bf beat the crap out of me. The man has never laid a hand on me in anger.

  46. I'm not a religious person buy any stretch, but I pray that her attorney's can shut down that tripe that is MediaTakeOut.com. As a Black woman, I have to say they are like slavery, Uncle Tom and Step and Fetch-It all rolled into one mascarading as a credible online media source. I know it sounds harsh, but you would have to know the site to understand where my contempt springs from.

  47. I've lost count of how many times I've been to the ER since my kids were born.

My almost 8 yo is always covered in bruises and cuts. Not to mention having to get stitches above her eye because of a playground accident and numerous scratches from chickens (we raise 'em).

It's part of being a kid, unless the parents have them sit in their rooms and play on the computer/game console all day.

    Move along...nothing to see here!

  48. The problem with these sort of stories is that people (even the authorities in some cases) are very quick to jump on the abuse bandwagon, and it's hard to shake off.

I seriously doubt XTina did anything wrong.

  49. Has everyone forgotten that Christina came from an abusive childhood. She's been very vocal about it. i HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt she would repeat that on her son. Kids have accidents.

  50. @Enty: Tell you the last time I fell on the ground and got a black eye? Was it the time I rolled out of a hammock onto my face and hit my eye on a cherry (seriously)? Or the time I banged my head on the back of my sister's head in the car? Or maybe it was when I fell down and landed on my own hand? (Derp!) Enty, either you weren't a kid or you really DO drink as much as you say and you're suffering brain damage from it.

Hmm. That'd explain a lot, actually.

(I should talk; I got a black eye from a cherry!)
