BuzzFoto Blind Item

This conservative and religious actor from a 90′s family sitcom is gay. He’s not out, but there have been rumors and he has dated several high profile women. He tried recently (like in the last 5 years) to enter a conversion program that would make him ‘not gay.’ He dropped thousands of dollars on the program and believed it was successful for a year or two. However, our source said that the actor now realizes the program didn’t work and is now seeing a therapist that is helping him to accept and embrace his homosexuality. Good for him!

  2. Ryan beat me to it. I can def see this being Kirk. It's kind of obvious.

  3. I think it's Willie Ames.

  4. Willie or won't he! Ames for sure.

  5. KC was my first thought too.

  6. Kirk Cameron has been married to the same woman since 1991. Don't think he would have "dated" high profile women since the 90's.

  7. Willie Aames dated Phoebe Cates. Currently seperated from his 2nd wife.

  8. Beat me to it Jessica! Kurt has been married for a long time and definitely not dating.

  9. Will Friedle? He dated JLH... not sure if he's conservative/religious...

  10. Willie Aames was an 80's star, not a star on a 90's sitcom... Charles in Charge ended in 1990.

  11. Can you ask for your money back if it doesn't "take"?

  12. Willie Aames was not in a "90's family sitcom." Kirk Cameron was, but he's been married forever, and I can't think of any "high profile" women he's been attached to. Also, Growing Pains is more of an 80's sitcom. I think KC is too obvious a guess, but it's not him.

  13. 90s family sitcoms: family matters, full house, the nanny, home improvement, fresh prince, roseanne, everybody loves raymond; there are other like friends and seinfeld and married with children, but I don't know that I'd call them family sitcoms

  14. Side note: Dont Michele Bachmann and her husband have a weird conversion program they push publicly??
Oh you zany conservatives are so cute!
    **eye roll**

I'm going to 2nd Cathy and also go with Will Friedle. Great guess!

And GOOD for him for seeking the right kinda help: acceptance in himself for what he is will surely bring him some much needed peace, I'm imagining.

  16. Kelsey Grammer or Patrick Duffy

  17. God, I'd love for this to be Ricky Schroeder or Kirk Cameron, but I don't think either one has done a lot of dating.

  18. Conversion programs are absolutely ridiculous and the #1,234th reason why organized religion pisses me off.

  19. I would have guessed Jonathan Taylor Thomas but he doesn't seem to have dated anyone high profile.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @von - I thought of that too, JTT has also been very supportive of the LGBT community for years - appearing in The Advocate and such, so I'm guessing he's not too conservative.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas has been out for years - not him.

Eight is Enough ended in 1981.

  23. @Jasmine: Surely you're aware that there are extremes of conservatism the same way there are of liberalism, aren't you? Oh, dummies are so cute! (eye roll)

  24. JTT is out? I had no idea.

  25. @BinkyM -
sadly, underneath most "moderate" conservatives lurks a raging crazy who just needs the right circumstances to come out. I've seen it too many times.

  26. @BinkyM

Don't even bother trying to use logic and sense on this crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  27. JTT is not out. He might very well be gay, but in 2000, he refuted those rumors in an interview with The Advocate and hasn't spoken of it since.

  28. BinkyM also wins comment of the day. Loves it.

  29. Unfortunately I don't think I watched tv in the 90s very much. Trying to think of shows and my mind is blank.

Just to be different though, how about Stamos? I don't know if he's dated anyone high profile, but maybe married to RR counts - she's definitely high profile, and he's definitely not re-married.

  32. I am thinking Will Friedle...He dated Jennifer Love Hewitt and someone else (can't remember who right now). Hm...

  33. Also, not sure why I'm on such a Boy Meets World kick today, but Ryder Strong dated Rachael Leigh Cook...

  35. I just read Jasmine's comment, and I don't think ANYONE here, even self-described 'conservatives', actually BELIEVES in gay conversion therapy, right?
To me, Jasmine was rolling her virtual eyes at those so conservative as to actually believe in that.

Marcus Bachmann collects Medicaid payments for his 'pray the gay away' clinics. That therapy is not government-approved for reimbursement, but Bachmann uses it anyway. Multiple sources on that.

  36. What about Wilmer Valderrama? He actually dates high-profile girls (Mandy Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ashlee Simpson) unlike the others suggested here, and "That 70s Show" aired from the late 90s til the mid 00s.

But he's not a religious type, is he? Can anyone confirm?

  37. "sadly, underneath most "moderate" conservatives lurks a raging crazy who just needs the right circumstances to come out"

You can say the same for liberals. Narrow minds exist in all political realms, just as they exist in the most educated and uneducated minds. I lived in NYC for many years, and it never ceased to amaze me that some of the most educated people I knew there were just as narrow minded as some country bumpkin religious zealots I knew. So it's unfair to label or to make snide remarks about one's political beliefs. A person's actions are far more telling than his or her political affiliation, which can unfairly be pegged as a character flaw, simply because someone has a different view point. The truly open minded accept people as they are and try to understand why they believe what they do; they don't sit in judgment - and they generally have a wider variety of friends.

  38. What about Ben Savage from Boy Meets World? He's currently "dating" a girl I know, but I think he's gay.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @BinkyM- last I heard, I dont think any liberal extremists were into opening clincs 'to cure' the gay outta people.

  40. I have a friend who swears she saw John Stamos and Jason Gould holding hands together back in the '90s.

    ReplyDelete
  41. But is Stamos religious?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Let's not lose sight of the "facts".

    1. 90's family sitcom
    2. conservative AND religious
    3. Dated several high profile women

Most of the people being mentioned don't fall into all of these categories.

  43. False equivalency, the "crazies" on the left will never compare to the crazies on the right. The right has chosen their name (conserve) because they want to keep everything the same. They want Mayberry without acknowledging the sexism/racism/every other ism that existed during that time. Bachmann, Kirk Cameron, Palin, McCain, Perry, Santorum, they're are too many and there are way more than there are of that caliber on the left. Extremist liberals don't vaccinate their children and extreme conservatives want to destroy the government and force christianity on every citizen of this country. They want sharia law but using a different name. One side is definitely crazier than the other.

    And JTT is out?!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nerdista for the mother fucking win!
(thank you for saying what I meant but being infinitely more eloquent about it :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. What about communists? They're part of the extreme left. I don;t think it's as simple as they just don't vaccinate their children.

Extremism in any ideology is not good.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Per Wikipedia: re: JTT Rumors

After taking on a number of roles in such films as Common Ground and Speedway Junky, where Thomas portrayed gay characters, rumors began to surface that he himself was gay. These stemmed from comments made by LGBT activist Norman Jones IV and information published on website CyberSleaze. He denied these reports in 2000 in interviews with gay-lesbian magazine The Advocate and with talk-show host Jay Leno.[7] Subsequently, he attended the Columbia University School of General Studies.[8][9]

  47. Nerdista said it right!

    Who is Will Friedle?

    ReplyDelete
  48. "One side is definitely crazier than the other."

Obviously, you don't know many liberal extremists. Count yourself lucky. Then again, the news doesn't demonize them in the same way. What about the people in Berkeley spitting on service men and women upon returning from serving our country? What about liberal extremists who turn every debate about Obama into accusations of racism? What about liberal extremists who accuse the conservatives of hating poor people? What about liberal extremists who like to encourage people to use LSD to "open" their minds? Trust me, extremists exist in the liberal realm too, particularly some of the women's lib variety.

Anyway, it's very sad to see so many people unwilling to examine the entire political spectrum and only label one as having extremists.

    ReplyDelete
  49. For the record, I'm a moderate conservative, but have mostly liberal friends, some of whom are liberal extremists. But I love them anyway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. What about Uncle Joey? ...From Full House? He dated Alanis Morrisette and a few other famous women but I don't know about recently.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @KatD -- "What about liberal extremists who like to encourage people to use LSD to "open" their minds? Trust me, extremists exist in the liberal realm too, particularly some of the women's lib variety."

Are you kidding? You seriously think that the *only* people who dabble in psychedelics are liberals? Yeah. This isn't 1967 anymore; your Timothy Leary analogy is a little overblown, and plenty of people who voted for McCain like to drop acid from time to time.

    Just another lovely Conservative stereotype!

And sorry if you think that fighting for adequate and affordable contraception is a branch of "extreme women's lib." Until I have every single right as my male counterparts, I'm proud to be a feminist. Most conservative women would NEVER affix themselves with that label -- I imagine you're among them.

Liberals fight to ensure that other people -- not just rich, white men -- have rights. Conservatives spent the majority of their time fighting to remove rights from people who don't neatly fit into their same religious, sexual, or economic backgrounds. That's all *I* absolutely know for sure.

  53. First, are we really gonna have a political debate in the comments on a blind item? Really?

Second, Joey Lawrence and Mario Lopez fit the bill for all of the factors. A little iffy on both of them and the "religious/conservative" angle (although with a little digging, both of them show hints of conservatism/religion... which is a tricky line to walk when you want to work in Hollywood) and a little "iffy" on Joey's "high profile women" (because Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Katherine Heigl are barely "high profile")

    ReplyDelete
  54. @AimeeG: (laughing) Seriously re: political debate! ALL sides suck!

We've seen Mario practically getting a hernia trying to look super-hetero, so he's a terrific guess (I hadn't noticed that Karen B suggested him several days ago), and Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Katherine Heigl most certainly *are* high-profile. I hadn't heard about any religious leanings WRT either one, but if you've dug and found some, then good for you not making stupid suggestions that don't fit the clues!
