Bridget Jones 3 Is Happening
For those of you who have missed Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver then you will have a chance to see them again. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the third installment will begin shooting soon. The plot is going to be something like Bridget and Mark cannot have kids and here comes Daniel to save the day. Uh huh. I remember writing about this last year and I thought the hang ups were schedules and the fact that Renee Zellweger did not want to gain the weight again. You know, to get to a healthy weight.
Bridget Jones 3: Bridge Jumps the Shark
ReplyDeleteJesus, I hate the second movie and book as much as I love the first movie and book.
ReplyDeleteShe looked so beautiful in the first movie, but I couldn't get past how freaking red and swollen she looked in the second one.
That and the movie sucked ass.
At this point in time I think that Renee is more worried about her career than her figure. Not to be unkind but she is on the wrong side of forty for a cute ingenue (42) and doesn't appear to have had a hit since the last Bridget seven years ago. Reeks of an desperate attempt at one last big payday!

ReplyDeleteLoved movie # 1, # 2 was plain dumb...I hope for a better script.
ReplyDeleteWe will see if this gets made with the original cast or not. Not so sure.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these films, hope this is true.
ReplyDelete@Vicki - Totally agree. The first film was perfect. I went to see the 2nd with high expectations, and it really sucked.
ReplyDeleteNever seen either of the first two so I vote for "who cares."
ReplyDeleteOh, great. Get ready for endless whining from Renee Z. because she had to gain 9 lbs or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI remember the HUGE DEAL she made about gaining weight for part 1. That was seriously all she talked about for at least a year. I thought she must have gained at least 35 or 40 lbs, the way she carried on. Then I found out she gained a total of 14 lbs. I haven't had any time for her since then. Girlfriend needs a real problem.
Bridget Jones is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I think it's one of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book. That said, the second one sucked. Renee needs a paycheck.
ReplyDelete#1 was awesome, #2...not so much.
ReplyDeleteEven though I <3 Hugh Grant's floppy hair and foppish eye blinking and luuurf Colin's everything, I really want this to be untrue...
I'm in the minority, I loved both #1 and 2! As for their being a 3rd, the premise simply sounds silly...
ReplyDeleteOMG she actually had eyes that opened back then!
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll be all alone in the theater because I happen to love Bridget Jones 1 & 2 and am all for a 3rd movie.
ReplyDeleteI also loved both movies! (Though 1 was obviously far better than 2).
ReplyDeleteI am excited and cant wait!
Oh she gained at least 40 pounds. Are you kidding? Look at the difference in her arms and bra size in this photo comparison: http://tinyurl.com/3qzl2v8
ReplyDeleteThat yo-yo fluctuating is really hell on her health, especially now in her 40s. She better be getting a fat paycheck.
She looked so much better when she played Bridget Jones. I think this franchise will suffer the same fate as the X-Files did though-too late.
ReplyDeleteI'm conflicted- I loved #1, #2 was OK. Supposedly Helen Fielding writes a column as Bridget in one of the papers over there, and she had written that Bridget either has an affair or leaves Mark and goes back to Daniel, and gets pregnant. There was such a backlash over that. I guess they're tweaking it for the movie to satisfy the masses.
ReplyDeleteBJD is one of my favorite books and movies. The second movie was so-so, but I do really love Renee as Bridget. Helen Fielding didn't write a third book though so I'm wondering what they are basing the script on??
ReplyDeleteI always wonder how some books to movies can be such a success (the first BJD) and others a giant failure (Confessions of a Shopaholic).
it's not the weight gain that's "hard on her" it's her commitment to borderline anorexia after shooting ends.
