We Have A Seven!

Not confined to the annals of Married With Children or Seinfeld, there is a real life Seven out there now courtesy of The Beckhams. Over the weekend, Victoria had her baby removed from her body and immediately reverted to a size zero. The few minutes she spent at a size one prior to removing the placenta were the longest minutes of her life. I really had my money on Angel or Los or even Beverly, but The Beckhams went with Harper Seven. So, now all of the kids other than the daughter were given names of where they were conceived. Seven is the number on David Beckham's jersey. Oh sure they can give you the nonsense about the baby being born in the seventh month but it is because of the jersey number. I think Harper should just be grateful her dad does not wear Sixty Nine or something like that.

  1. I wondered whether they named the baby after Harper Lee, but I'm pretty sure David and Victoria aren't exactly bookwormish enough to name their daughter after an author. Hell to the no.

So the baby was named after a fashion magazine and a jersey number? At least she wasn't named after a piece of fruit or a Superman character, I guess.

  2. LOL @ "had the baby removed from her body." Like it's a demon being exercised or something? ;)

Love Harper but Seven? Oh well...to each their own I guess. The first time I heard a number baby name was on that show 9 By Design.

  3. I like the new baby's name, Harper is a nice name.

It's relatively tame and normal in the world of celeb baby names.

  6. Total rip-off of Erykah Badu. One of her kids is named Seven (can't remember if it's the one she had with the Outkast guy).

I remember because I live near her and pass her Smart Car with a lacrosse sticker and Seven on it often enough that I can now act like I know her on the internets.

  7. For them, its a nice normal name...and next week Victoria will be back in her pre pregnancy jeans..

  8. While not something I would pick, it isn't absurd like many celebrity baby names.

  9. I actually think her name is cute and appropriate for them. I have no complaints. The name Seven has meaning for them, and as a middle name it works.

  10. Harper is cooler than my name for sure!

  11. Love the name. I thought I would hate it upon reading the headline of this post, but nope. It's cute and fab and I hope the baby is happy and healthy.

  12. I like the name and if Natalie Portman can name her child after the first letter of the alphabet (Alpha??? Can’t really remember) a middle name like Seven isn’t that bad. Especially compared to Moxie Crimefighter or Pilot Inspector or a child at my work called Papillon Eagleye Rainbow...

  13. Feisty, right- Seven is her son's name, and her daughter's name is PUMA.

    ridiculous.

  14. Harper is nice and very near normal (unlike the examples sited above). Seven is a middle name and won't get used much. What are the boys middle names? See??

  15. The Beckham boys all have "traditional" middle names - Joseph, James and David I believe from oldest to youngest.

I like the name Harper; Seven raised my brows a bit, but in the scheme of things, it's a great name overall.

  16. idm the name...it sure as hell beats comic book superhero and zappa-esque references. aside from sounding like a big swing band doing the ballroom circuit--the harper seven, i think it's cute. i do think tho, she'll be teased w/ 'harper's bizarre' at some point, but only if she, like mom, is allergic to human interaction...so let's hope she's not, and that she grows up happy and healthy.

Harper is a pretty cool name. I like it. The only Beckham name that raises my eyebrows is Romeo, just because it's just so obvious.

  19. Seven is not a new name--Country Joe McDonald named his daughter Seven Anne in the late 60s. She was a child actress (TV movies and series like Archie Bunker's Place, I believe). She has written a column for the LA Weekly for years. The character Six on Blossom was supposedly modeled after her.

  20. @Noetje -
That's Pilot Inspecktor to you, my friend. Those celeb babies don't have to spell like the little people do. : )

  22. @ms snarky: I’m dreadfully sorry... I guess that extra K really changes the feel of the name... Makes it less common. LOL.

  23. I always liked the name Harper for a girl. Unfortunately, it is out of the question for any baby of mine since I live in Canada. Awful connotation.

  24. Am I the only one who thinks that she was conceived while he was wearing his jersey/inside his jersey? No need to give up on their naming tradition, they just changed it around a bit...

  25. @Noetje, Natalie Portman named her son Aleph (or Alef; websites are listing both spellings). It's the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

  26. Oh, and Goopser wanted to name her child Bruce after her father at first. The only problem was that it was a girl! So she ended up with Apple. And I am not sure why
