When the announcement was made that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were splitting, I thought it was interesting news for the day. It gave everyone something to discuss and since I had stuck myself out on the limb by talking about Marc and his backup singer, the validation was nice.
Other than that though do you really care? I don't. I thought Tiger cheating on Elin and Jesse cheating on Sandra were much more interesting. I think the issue here is no one really likes Jennifer or Marc. Oh sure, Marc has fans of his music but that does not mean they like him personally. I guess somewhere out there someone in some far corner of the world must like Jennifer's movies or music. Yes, you will probably have to look for awhile and in areas of countries which are not normally visited, but somewhere there is probably someone who likes her work. Plan to spend a little longer looking if you want to find someone who likes her.
So, I realize I could be alone in my opinion and that's fine and I guess that explains why People and US Weekly have devoted their covers this week to Jennifer. I guess people do find it interesting and US Weekly even asks whether Jennifer is ready to date again. Seriously? It has been like a week. That shows me they are going to start a new love watch for her. Ugggh.
I think you nailed it, Enty - I don't think anyone likes either of these two. There's an element of schadenfreude at work, I think.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are repulsive people. Ego maniacs, selfish, limitless self entitlement, self indulgent, and frankly neither of them are terribly talented. Marginal at best and far more lucky than either deserve. Pity the kids.
ReplyDeletechoosing between these two is like picking the lesser evil. J-Lo's a manipulative diva, but there's just something incredibly creeepy about Marc Anthony.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the Ukraine likes her work enough to pay her $1 million to perform at their wedding.
ReplyDeleteWhen did US magazine trump People?
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the memo that kneepads lost its 'I AM KING' title?
I really thought Jlo would go the People route.. guess Mark beat her at her own game.
This is going to be fantablously ugly to watch.
Damn it! My son unlogged me on google
ReplyDeletearrgh!
US vs People post done by me, JoElla
Sorry gang!
@JoElla,
ReplyDeleteDang kids!
yep, dont care. Dont really like them.
ReplyDeleteDon't care about either of them, and as for Affleck he said she was the biggest mistake he made and it came close to ruining his career, so I doubt he's getting involved.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if Benny Medina's/JLo's machine pushed the story out to (a) get her side out first and increase recognition of her brand, (b) let the industry know Marc won't be around to annoy them when they want to do a deal with JLo and that(c) JLo *is* available for work again, including weddings, wakes & bar mitzvahs.
ReplyDeleteI never doubted he cheated. I'm very sure he did! Backup singers, stewardesses, whatever. I'm sure he's a total man whore. Why does he even have kids if he's not interested in being a father?
ReplyDeleteSo absolutely not interested in either of them. Skeletor looks creepy evil and boring, and she looks spoiled and boring. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteWhen he was a guest coach on American Idol, I thought he seemed completely coked out.
ReplyDeleteFrom their cover I'm way more interested in reading about Denise and her new baby. That's how bored I am of Skelator and JLo, already. Actually I was bored of them even prior to their split.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason why I will even care a tiny bit is if this gets incredibly nasty - which I'm hoping for. Otherwise don't like either of them.
ReplyDeleteI am such a gossip whore that I want to know EVERYTHING!! The cheating! The controlling? SECRET EMAILS TO BEN AFFLECK??????????? Tell me everything!!! Tell me now!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete__-__=__ -- because kids are trophies, like serial wives who are beauty queens and stars. See: Paris Hilton story about this one, with the 17 housepets.
ReplyDeleteI still find it funny that people are still calling her J-Lo like it's 2002. I wish it was 2002 - the world was simpler then, but that's neither here nor there.
ReplyDeleteMEDIA - STOP CALLING HER J-LO.
Yawn, not like this is a surprise. Nice reveal Enty, not like we did not nail the guesses on that one. Barely even blind, that is why we love you.
ReplyDeleteI want to dig out that old South Park episode where they blasted her and watch that tonight.
ReplyDelete"I'm Hen-a-fur Lopez. I Like Tacos and Burritos."
You know who's the most pissed about this whole thing - Nick and Vanessa. Their only chance to score a mag cover and Jen had to go and pull this shit. Well, there's always the inevitable divorce a year and a half from now.
ReplyDelete@JasonBlueEyes - BAHAHAHA so true!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Jason's last comment and @ Jen.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting tired of seeing this in the media...
JasonBlueEyes - Your comments are hysterical. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI wanna know all the deets about this divorce. And, I guess I'm hanging my head in shame here, but I do dig Jennifer Lopez's tune, "Let's Get Loud." Guilty pleasure.
I hate when one person believes there opinion is how everyone feels. Trust me, there are PLENTY of people who like Jennifer. Especially after AI which boosted her likability a great deal this year. Jennifer (and her relationships) are always going to be big news. This wasnt shocking.
ReplyDeleteSorry Andrew, the interest was shocking to me. I believed that the majority of people know that Jlo is a self centered diva and skeletor is jealous and controlling. She gets points for seeming nice on AI but, well, I dont watch it. Ive heard good things though.
ReplyDeleteNow, can we have the story of Denise Richards baby? I love babies!
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were married, when did they get married? Sorry couldn't resist!
ReplyDeletePeople will buy the mags, even if they like or don't like them for different reasons. No one wants to see a train wreck but we all look and try to find out the story. Human nature? Some people just like seeing divas like her fall off their pedestals.
I think the bigger story here is that Ted Casablancas has pretty much told the world that Mark has been beating the crap out of Jennifer for years (in blind items) but it's only being hinted at with references to Mark's "controlling" behavior.
ReplyDeleteJason - that is one of my favourite episodes of S. Park of all time. "And don't forget the hot sauce, cholo!"
ReplyDeleteI can't stand either of them, and Iknow I'm not alone, so I still can't figure out why people are putting them on covers or giving her jobs. I can't stand the sight of her, and her voice is even more annoying.
