  1. So, I need to put Friday Night Lights and Game of Thrones in my queue....

I thought Kathy Griffin's show was already cancelled??

  2. Where is Ida Blankenship? Gurl, you were nominated!!

"What's the category?" (guest actress in a drama)

Thrilled about the Dinklage and GoT recognition.

Not so thrilled that Nick Offerman was left off the list so that the unfunny Jon Cryer could be on it.

  3. Where's CHARLIE?????

Anyway...tough choices bewteen Boardwalk Empire and Dexter and between The Big C and Nurse Betty for me.

    Oh...and TEAM COCO!!!

  4. Glad to see FNL & Justified nominated in drama and parks & Rec in comedy but Community should have been too. Can we please just give it to Steve Carell, Kyle Chandler, and Connie Brittion? They've already earned it previous years and not won.

  5. Lelaina, FNL is great show!! Great critical & viewer reviews but never had a large audience. One of my favorite shows of all time and I hate all sports including football.

  6. BRILLIANT choice of a header image. The only things ameliorating my grief at Nick Offerman's snub are 1) Parks & Rec did get a nomination, and 2) FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!

  7. Dammit, I really wish I had started watching Game of Thrones!

And why is this the first time I'm hearing about Justified?? I love Olyphant!

Martha Plimpton? Really? I don't watch that show because it looks ridiculous, but I guess...?

I cannot STAND Mike & Molly, but Molly is definitely the best thing about that show, so good for her.

Survivor not even nominated this year...huh.

  8. Nick Offerman was ROBBED, but I'm glad to see Parks & Rec on there. Last season rocked. I also wish there was some Joel McHale/Community love!

I would love to see FNL win best drama, even if I was maybe one of 38 people who watched it.

  10. Raising Hope is actually pretty funny. I'm shocked that Martha Plimpton would get a nom since it's not an Emmy type show but she is really funny so is the husband and son.

  11. I'm just happy Cat Deeley finally got a nod for best host! YAY

  12. Where is Lauren Graham in this list? She was incredible on Gilmore Girls and equally brilliant in a different type of role on Parenthood.

    These awards are so lame.

So happy to see Martha Plimpton with a nomination. Raising Hope is a hilarious show and she has the best facial expressions ever!

  14. Friday Night Light is one of the best shows, I hope Kyle and Connie win, they have consistently been fantastic in their roles and i have loved watching them portray a a great married couple. They so deserve to win. But just like Matthew Fox should have won last year for Lost, (I am still not over that!!!) I don't think these two will win

  15. I guess it's too much to hope FNL will sweep their categories? Even though they are up against great people/shows, FNL blows them all out of the water.

  16. We watch Nurse jackie BUT how is that show a comedy????

  17. Tried to watch Friday Night Lights and never could get too into it...maybe you have to like sports more or small towns or something? Bleck

    Yay Kathy Griffin!

And you know Steve Carell is gonna get that Emmy~

  18. I am so glad GOT got nominated. Did someone say Dinklage got a nomination too? I just love that man!

  19. Nothing for "Parenthood" or "True Blood." Well then, nothing this year to get excited about.

  20. I don't think Steve C or anyone from FNL will win. Maybe Walter Groggins from Justified, although his first two seasons were where he truly shined. This season was more like he's so good we'll make him fit in.

  21. I just started watching FNL season 1. It's very good. I've loved Connie since "Spin City."

Steve C. WILL Win. Just like Michael J. Fox won in 2000.

    Team Coco too.

Go Bill Maher. If he doesn't win for this season - something is truly wrong.

  22. I don't think FNL can possibly win against Boardwalk Empire. The show is brilliant and Steve Buscemi is just WOW! And Laura Linney in the Big C? I can only hope!

  23. Well, of COURSE Ida was nominated!! She's worthy of a homage via one gossip website username, and she's sure as shit worthy of a statuette! If the actress (Randi something -- the mom from The Karate Kid! WEIRD) doesn't win it, her makeup artist should. Ida Blankenship does NOT look dowdy in real life. I mean, this one occasionally does *points to self*, but the actress who plays the character is probably consistently fly.

Boardwalk Empire is just NOT as good as Mad Men, in my opinion. Doesn't even come *remotely* close. Steve Buscemi is great, of course, but that's because he's Steve frickin' Buscemi! But Mad Men has the best scriptwriters, an amazing score, IMPECCABLE set/costume design (*drooooooool*), and the cast just has the most gorgeous chemistry together. Listening to the banter in the audio commentaries really made me fall in love with the show even more, because it's so obvious how much those people just LOVE their jobs, honor each other (yes, even January), and basically feel so lucky to be associated with Mad Men.

It's really a special show, and I miss it terribly! I've been catching up sporadically with stuff this summer, but there's definitely nothing I *have* to watch right now.

True Blood is sucking hardcore so far this season. I don't CARE who boinks Sookie!! I just want more freaky supernatural shit, dammit! Bring on the witches!

And I can't wait to devour Game of Thrones when it's released on DVD. I KNOW I'm gonna be all *over* that one.

I've also heard people claim that The Walking Dead is better than Breaking Bad and Mad Men put together, and that claim is just erroneous, fucked-up, and ludicrous. The Walking Dead is honestly 80% disgusting, 10% disturbing, and 10% fascinating. Um, I just don't think I like it all that much.

And I can't even believe I'm about to say this...

...but I think Friday Night Lights should take Best Drama. If this is an awards show supposedly based on quality, FNL NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED AT LEAST ONCE, DAMMIT. Nothing matches it in terms of authenticity and respectful portrayals of vastly diverse young people. Not to mention the amazing Coach and Mrs. Coach. I want The Hammster to get it this year, but I'd definitely jump out of my seat and cheer if Kyle Chandler won, too.

  24. Yay! FNL! Finally.

    The Good Wife too.

    But no Closer, bummer.

  25. I like The Walking Dead and I really didn't think it would be my kind of show.

Not everyone shares the same opinions on anything. It's called Diversity.

  27. @Jeri -- I realize that. I didn't say that I think everyone ELSE who likes The Walking Dead sucks. I have friends who love it. Personally, I find it gross and unwatchable.

    *SUBJECTIVITY.*

  28. ^But you also found the Wire terrible watching, Ida. And that's just WRONG. ;P

  29. @ cowbulls - Nurse Jackie is considered a dark comedy. And I'm upset it wasn't nominated for a top award. But sooo glad Edie was. It's the only reason why I subscribe to Showtime (well that and Big Brother Afterdark - don't judge).

  30. Thank god for FNL, Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton FINALLY getting their long-deserved nominations! Now I bet none of them will win (I've never seen it but I hear that Boardwalk Empire is pretty much a lock - it's exactly the type of show the academy always picks) but they have been robbed of nominations for 5 years so great to see it finally happen.

What, no Teen Mom for reality series??! (yes, I'm joking)

  31. Prediction: 30 Rock goes 0-for-Emmys yet again, signalling that the show has shot its wad and will shutter after Season 6.

  32. Edie Falco, Martha Plimpton, Laura Linney, all excellent actresses in their shows. They make their shows. Amy poehler, Tina Fey, and Melissa McCarthy I think will trail in this category. But all excellent, except for Amy Poehler. She tries too hard.
