So Did Amber Portwood Really Try And Commit Suicide?

Yesterday afternoon I read reports that Amber Portwood from Teen Mom had tried to kill herself. There were reports that she was found with a rope around her neck and that she was rushed to the hospital. But, after those first reports, it seemed like the reports that came out were that Amber or someone close to her called police and said that Amber was threatening to kill herself and when police went over to the house they found her wanting to kill herself but not actually trying to. They still took her to the hospital and Gary Shirley went and visited and then had the time to take down her Twitter page. Who does that or thinks of that after a suicide attempt.

MTV says they do not know what happened. I was under the impression they were still filming the upcoming season of the show, but it must have just ended if they were not. What I think Amber needs is a good month or two in a hospital away from everything and every bit of drama and let her get her life together. It is obvious she has issues and being around Gary is not helping those issues. The people around her should take this as a cry for help and get her the help she needs. Maybe she was depressed MTV had stopped shooting. What will really make me mad is if Amber or Gary sells some kind of suicide story to the tabloids.

  2. When did Natalie from the Facts of Life get a spray tan and extensions?

  3. @ Vicki Cupper: That is hysterical! I hadn't connected the two, but you are totally right! She could be Natalie's long lost sister.

  4. All I have to say about this strumpet/waste of spooge is that I hope her child is doing okay.

I still can't believe this show exists in the first place.

  6. This woman's name should not be part of the public dialogue. She has done nothing valuable worthy of our attention. I hate MTV for the spotlight they give to losers, they are worse than E!

  10. I just don't understand why these shows are even on the air. It's like people just want to see people even more miserable than they are. I've got my problems, but watching stupid people doing stupid things does NOT cheer me up. Just too much confrontation on TV these days.

  11. Sadly, my experience in this area is that is someone says or acts like they want to commit suicide, its a cry of help; and if someone really wants to commit suicide, they do it without warnings

i've never watched the show and skip over her in tabloid fodder...but this is just heartbreaking. i hope someone is there to help, and that the baby is ok.

  13. Remember when MTV played music and was the engine that operated the MUSIC SCENE.

Now DISNEY CHANNEL is the one doing that.

If Selena Gomez did get knocked up by Justin Dc can now do that. And Selena can also breast feed the baby and Justin.

  14. Getting pregnant at 16 should never be a reason for a television show.

There is no one worth seeing or even mentioning on this stupid MTV show. This chickie-poo proved it.

  15. I think she sees her 15 minutes and the money she was paid circling the drain and that was depressing.

If I looked like that, I'd kill myself too.

Someone said she looks like Nathalie from Facts of Life. That's way worse.

Besides, I don't believe it for a second. She needs the attention as that'll keep her in Coach purses and authentic Uggs, no more walmart brand for her.

@Ida - Love your Cher references. I use that line quite a bit myself. :)

  20. Amber is still, emotionally, a child. Her father is dying from liver disease. I don't know about you guys, but my dad died of cancer when I was 38, I was pretty devastated, needing psych meds and counseling to get back on track.
Additionally, the demands of parenting, as most of us know, that is a hugely stressful job. She really has little support in her life. She's done what most kids do when they have a child, they desperately want to do what kids their age are doing but they can't. Yes, I know, Amber partied her ass off and abused prescription pills, that doesn't make her a bad person. It means she makes sucky choices.
As for the actual suicide attempt, I work at a crisis line. People make statements like this all the time. We encourage loved ones to do a welfare check. If the client isn't suicidal, it lets the person know when they say suicide, people will take it seriously. Going to the hospital for any reason is not fun. If she was a threat to herself, the police helped intervene. In most cases, hospital stays are not a good idea. Patients should get well with in an outpatient setting. Plus, hospital stays like that don't exist anymore. They are called spas. If she's rich enough to afford one, she can go that route. Maybe if her chakras are aligned, her life will be better
