Random Photos Part Two - Ascot

You know I love Ascot and all the hats. It is interesting to me that "big stars" in the UK like Danielle Bux here go for the more subdued hats while everyone else goes all out.
One of my favorites of the day.
The let them eat cake hat.
A flower wrapped in a hat wrapped in a bow.
The I had some extra ribbon so thought I would make a necklace out of it too hat.
I'm guessing this guy likes to drink.
The go to the store, grab a pile of tissue paper and form it into a hat because we are going to Ascot hat.

  1. I wonder if the old guy realizes his balloon went limp?

  2. I am OBSESSED with hats the way that some people are enamored with shoes, so I'm sitting here having a sartorial orgasm right now.

A sargasm? Either way, I'm fanning myself and gasping, and it is very, very intense.

  3. Me I love shoes, but I keep wondering how they keep those things on their heads...and do they get headaches ?

  4. i fall in love w/ the british just a little bit more when their humor comes about unexpectedly...that marie antoinette cake hat has GOT to be difficult to keep on...and the lime flower girl in the 2nd pic is the gorge...really pulls that off. limp balloon dude may be trying to tell us something. hee.

  5. Lainey has jumped on the British hats posts, but you were posting Ascot pictures WAY before her, Enty! In general, Lainey's posts have taken a boring, annoying turn for the British and Spanish - no offense to those countries, but I really don't care about some Spanish footballer.

  6. I have a big, fat head (23 inches!) so I don't like/wear hats much. :(

  8. oh, just to add: when i was little, a lady just didn't go out for lunch or to shop without her hat and gloves. my mother had many hats and i loved to look at them and try them on. i don't look good in hats, but i envy women who can wear them. LOVE hats.

Enty, I think it's supposed to be a flower.

    I love hats but I also have a large head - 22.5"

  10. Mango, I have a big head too. :( (Insert joke here.) I keep trying on hats in hopes I'll find one that fits, but they never do.

I have the same problem, Black Cat. Adore hats, but this big ol' noggin is tough to fit. At least the big head holds a good-size brain. I hope so, anyway!

  12. Another big head checking in over here--23.5", and can't find a damn thing to fit my head. (My mother claims it's my hair, but I'm sure as hell not shaving my head just to be able to wear hats!)

  15. Daaaamn, you guys. I had to buy a supersized bike helmet AND I have big hair, and *I* still find hats!

Just look for the wide-brimmed models. They're more forgiving. Don't go for those dainty little teacup-sized things. And I'll bet all of you ladies could pull off one of these fascinators. They'd make your gigantic noggins look positively pin-ish! ;-)

And if you can't fit into a roomy stocking cap, then you're hopeless. Sorry. Or, you have encephalitis and you just don't know it...

  16. So agree rocket about Lainey's spanish footballers - like who the he** cares ! - My sister in England loves Ascot ! On the big day her and her friends all go to a hat shop where you can rent hats, hire a limo, take off to Ascot and drink some Bollys !!! Yay for the Brits !!!

  18. Ida, I love my floppy knit hats in the winter. It's not that I couldn't find hats if I tried, it's just that I hate when I see one that's adorable and I know there's no way I can wear it.

  20. Daaaaang, you guys! I actually just had to go measure my head in my bathroom right now because of your comments! Apparently I too have a big head - depending on where I measure, it's either 22 or 22.5 inches : ).
