Nikki Reed Gets Engaged

Pitching a reality show is so much easier if you are engaged. At least I think that is the reason that Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald got engaged. Oh sure, I guess it could be love, but the cynic in me really thinks it is about a reality show, especially since it has just been three months since they started dating. Nikki, who will presumably not be working once the last of the Twilight movies hits theatres needs something to do. Paul will probably try and have a music career but will be hampered by the fact that he is not that great. But, opportunities do come to those who sacrifice themselves on the altar of reality television.

  2. At first I couldn't stand Paul McDonald on American Idol but he grew on me. When he sang "Fulsom Prison Blues" like he was the happiest guy in the world I realized he was full-bore crazy. I'll watch anything he's on.

  3. I guess things didn't work out for her and that wealthy Greek kid. Ah well. Very pretty, very untalented. (And totally miscast for Twilight!!!)

  4. A homosexual couple can shack up for a decade and still not have the right to marry, yet two idiots can date each other for a few months and get hitched as a publicity stunt. Gotta love it.

This is an effed-up country. It really, truly is.

  5. Hmm, not sure about this one. While I'm not a Twilight fan, Nikki's got some serious cred as an actor (and I believe she wrote the movie 13, in which she also starred). If she does a reality show, I'll be disappointed.

As for this quickie engagement....ugh. Please.

  7. I'm with you, RQ. I think Nikki's too much of a respected actress to do a reality show. I just think she's nuts. This is ridiculous. 3 months? If you're so in love and believer you'll spend the rest of your lives together why do you have to get married RIGHT NOW to prove it? Spend more time together and if he IS the one then you'll make a smart decision about marrying him that's not fueled by hormones.

  8. Three months and engaged? But, hey Kim K. got a $2 Million ring after what only six? These people are bat shit crazy.

  9. Don't know or pay too much attention to the twilight crew, but I personally loved Paul's music and performance style. He seemed authentic and true to himself, unwilling to dumb himself down to hit the lowest common denominator of produced pop music. Are they rushing in a bit quickly? Perhaps. But Paul's got a fan in me.

  11. Enty, thanks for the Twilight reference. I had no idea who this chicadee was. Now that I do, PASS. I do not care.

  12. LOVE Paul, and I think he does a good job with bluesy rock songs. I've even downloaded some of his Grand Magnolia stuff.

  13. Is it me, or does something about this guy scream 'famewhore'? It just seems he's really overdoing the mugging for the cameras, but it could be he's an exceptionally happy guy.

    @Ida - I totally agree. "Sacred Institution" my @ss.

  14. I read a quote from her about how they're looking for a house together (um, I wonder who's paying for that...) and that she wants him to have a big space where he can work on his music. The way she said it just SCREAMED to me that she's going to be paying for everything, while he "tries to be a musician".

I've heard her talk about her friendships and relationships before, and she seems VERY needy, and almost desperate, even with her friends, like she'd do ANYTHING for them and absolutely needed them to be around her all the time.

My thoughts are that this guys is thinking "CHA CHING! Twilight money! Sweeeeeeet!".

she is cute and talented and he is the same.. I call " true love " here...except that its love fueled with 20something year old hormones and lots of money..I know that feeling all too well( the 20something love..not so much the huge heaps of cash)...hope it lasts for them..it rarely does!

  16. @JasonBlueEyes - Yes, she was.

I was rooting for Paul, b/c he is a friend of a friend, but I also REALLY enjoyed his music/voice. I was very surprised to hear the engagement news.

  17. Not only did she help write 'Thirteen,' but it was semi-autobiographical. Girl has issues. I actually think he might be good for her, but I doubt they'll last long.

  18. Damnit...

I've had a bit of a crush on her since the Thirteen days.

I saw Paul perform at the El Rey a few weeks ago - he was awful. More than half the audience cleared out when he performed. He also name dropped his now fiancee during his performance while she acted like she was a big "celebrity" up in front of the stage with a bodyguard. Give me a break. Classless.

  20. I dunno, I got MARRIED after two months together. My brother got engaged in two months, married in 7. My cousin, same thing. We're all deliriously happy! :-) <3

  21. This is probably the best picture I've ever seen of Nikki. Maybe it's real love.
