MTV Says Enough To Jersey Shore Demands

Dick Wolf proved you could have a successful television show even if you replaced all your main characters every few seasons. No one stopped watching Law & Order when he first tried it out, and I don't know why networks are so afraid. Yes, we want to see our favorite actors, but if the story is god enough it does not really matter who is starring in the program. Well, after facing some huge contract demands from the Jersey Shore cast, everyone realized they could find five or six other people from Jersey who are just as loud and abrasive and cost a whole lot less. When the cast comes back from Italy, they will film one last season at $100K per person per episode which is more than 90% of the actors get on network television. After that, there will be no more Snooki or The Situation. They will be free to have their 15 minutes expire.

Now, the downside to all of this is that MTV will be adding another 5 or 6 people to the list of people who do not deserve to become famous or earn millions of dollars.

  1. They can totally do this. They've already changed/added cast members a few times anyway. And I don't think I can stand one more season of Sammi fighting with Ronnie anyway.

  2. It doesn't bother me that people like this make 100k per episode. They should make more because, eventually, their "fame" will die out and then who is going to hire them for a "real" career? I can just see it now: Snooki, the accountant. :|

  3. I have full confidence that all the money these morons make/have made will be blown on magnum bottles of Cristal, daily spray tans, hair extentions, personal weight rooms, Italian cars, gold chains, garbage bags of cocaine, and swimming pools shaped like dollar signs.

The only one I can *remotely* stand anymore is J-Woww. The rest? Well, I kinda wish them nothing but the worst. I'll save my sympathy for people with talent, skills, and class.

  4. I am proud to say that to date, I have NEVER watched this show - the only reason I know who a couple of these people are is because of this blog and that one South Park episode(yeah, I went there...)
The only thing to look forward to is that at least in the case of Law & Order, there was quality writing and acting to support cast changes.
From everything I've heard, that is so not the case here.
And I'm forever thankful for that.

  5. No offense Enty, but you rail against people who do not deserve to become famous or earn millions of dollars... but post about people like the Jersey Shore cast or worse still, the Kardashians, who fit that description all the time. If you have such disdain for those type people, why perpetuate their undeserved fame?

  6. There will be no more Snooki or the Situation....

Except they have signed both of them to new shows. Pauly D and J-woww are getting shows, too. They aren't going anywhere yet.

  7. I don't watch anyway, so could care less as long as they don't clog up my internets too much like the Lohan turds do.

  8. They could get two more seasons for 50 000 or one for 100 000. So they are lucky they get more money for less work.

  11. ^thank you. I am a NJ native and am willing to hang out at the shore and be filmed if any tv executives are interested. I'm also willing to settle for less than 100 grand an episode. Born, raised and still living here.

  14. The most I've seen of the Jersey Shore is what Joel McHale shows on The Soup, and I have to say, it absolutely kills me that this crop of imbeciles makes what Jon Hamm makes to play Don Draper. Good riddance!

  15. Although I havent watched an episode either I HAVE watched the South Park ep, like many of you.

To this day whenever I see a pic of the real Snooki (including just now on this post) my gut instinct is to shudder and try to stop myself from hearing that awful smush smush creepy south park voice in my head.
    *shiver*

As for them having cast off shows I dont think it will be the same. Remember how popular the Hills were? When Lauren Conrad (i think) and that ceiling eyes chick um, Audrina? , when they had their own shows no one really watched and slowly the popularity deflated from the entire thing. I really think that will happen again here. There seems to be something really important about having that 5-6 group of people. Splitting them up is almost like cutting the head of the snake- it can still wiggle around but its a dead man walking.
(there were a lot of analogies here, just go with it :P

  16. ^HA! I think you are right. I think they'll probably have one more season, with a new cast and then it'll be over. By then MTV or some other network will have come up with the latest and greatest reality craze.

I request one thing from MTV... a A Very Special Jersey Shore Reunion: 10 Years Later, Where are They Now?

  19. Can they please just NOT make any more seasons with this cast at all? Oh and while they're at it, can they please not make any more seasons at all? Oh and while they're at it, can they please erase from the world's collective memories, and all the video footage the existance of the seasons that have already been completed/aired? Please? I don't ask for much....
