Laurence Fishburne Leaving CSI
It has not been a good off season for CSI. The latest actor to say adieu is Laurence Fishburne. The Academy Award nominee was on the show for about two years and I don't think anyone ever expected him to stay, but Deadline says he will not renew his contract. An imaginary statement from his agent said, "Laurence loved his time on CSI, but considering how many hours he had to work, the pay was low. Laurence hopes to go back and do a couple of movies a year, and make five times as much money so that way we both get paid better."
Is there anyone left on the show? What is William Peterson doing these days?
I thought Peterson has been ill and that's why he quit being a regular? Anyway Fishburne was good but I think his character had completed his arc. Bring on someone new!
ReplyDeleteWas that imaginary statement inspired by the "lovely" January Jones? "Financially, we don’t get paid very much on the show and that’s well-documented." Difference being that Fishburne actually has talent.
ReplyDeleteFishburn was saying he wanted to come back next season. I think CBS didn't want him. I bet they will go with a younger actor to replace him.
ReplyDeleteAlso Marge H. is only coming back for a few episodes next season.
Looks like only George Eads is last man standing on the show. Hope he gets that pay bump he is always crying for.
I re-watched The Matrix this past weekend. Fishburne was really good in that. Actually, everyone's really good in that movie except Keanu ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm finding it harder and harder to watch that show because of Helgenburger's face. Her lips are just WEIRD now - like Kidman's third lip times 10.
ReplyDeleteThank you RocketQueen...I haven't been able to look at her for years, whenever she comes on I sigh or say "ugh" and my hub asks why I watch the show. My hate goes back to the first episode when she said to the new csi girl "We're just a bunch of kids" Kids? ugh. My husbands right, why do I watch this show?
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching CSI since Petersen left the show. Last week it was on so decided to see what it was about. Ann Margerite came out and the character Sqweegel was pretty good. Funny thing is that I just finished reading a book with that character since the author is the creator of CSI.
ReplyDeleteThey made such a big deal about Sara leaving -- she was so depressed and horrified by working in Las Vegas that she HAD to get out. Annnnnd now she's back, and everything's fine. That's what has been rubbing me the wrong way lately. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Gil/Ray position. Whoever it is should have an easier time transitioning in than Laurence did.
ReplyDeleteI'd laugh if Chris Meloni took the job, but I don't know why he would.
