Jake Gyllenhaal And Bear Grylls
For only the second time I can remember, Bear Grylls took a celebrity out with him on his Man vs Wild show. Always a poor substitute for Survivorman, it has lasted longer on the air, and is not a bad show, just not as good as Survivorman was. Anyway, on the season premiere Bear is joined by Jake Gyllenhaal in Iceland. According to Bear, Jake did really well and was put in some difficult situations. There was this one time where the refrigerator on his trailer went out and Jake had to drink room temperature Coke until some could be flown in. Oh, and this other time, his chef put too much salt on a dish so Jake ripped off the man's chef hat and jumped up and down on it.
So, maybe those things did not happen, but hey, what do you expect, it is a post about a television show which was really edited and I am sure Jake comes off well. Do you really expect them to make him look like an idiot?
I suspect Jake will do much better than Will Ferrel :) I can't wait for this episode. I know a lot of people prefer Survivorman, but I like Man vs. Wild better. Survivorman is BORING and I'm keeping track of how many types of shelters I've seen Bear build. I think it's up to 17. He's amazing.
ReplyDeleteUm. I really don't ask for much from the cosmos, really, but I'd fervently like those two to become a Thing, if at all possible. HAWT.
ReplyDeleteHis name IS Bear, after all...
I also think Jake will do well. He's very athletic and he's never really struck me as a diva.
ReplyDeletei have no idea who this bear person is, but i like jake a lot...and it saddens me that this--at least at a glance--appears like an attempt at remaining relevant. it's up there w/ being swifty's fake 3 wk bf.
ReplyDeleteHA! I don't know who this Bear guy is either. I was thinking Jake finally got caught/had his picture taken with his lover!!
ReplyDeletepft
There is a BrokeBack Mountain joke somewhere in this picture, I just know it, lol
ReplyDeleteIsn't Bear the one who would go to the hotel when they were done filming, unlike the other guy who actually spent his whole time in the wild?
ReplyDeleteNo, Bear is great, I love Bear!
ReplyDeleteSaw Bear on Graham Norton the other week - not a bad looking guy in the least. He was on with Cameron Diaz and Kathy Griffin.
ReplyDeleteAs the show went on though all I could think was 'OMG check out the chemistry with Bear and Cameron! He's more her type than A-Rod' they were completely flirting the bit out. Then I found out he was married! Well, you wouldn't have thunk it - he was trending on twitter after and basically all anyone was saying was how they felt sorry for his wife! But aye, they were smokin'...
Somehow I doubt Jakey drank his own urine like Will Ferrell did...
ReplyDeleteLove Jake and I think he did well on the show because he is pretty athletic. But, could he please stop with the Mr. Tough Hetro Man poses and PR events please. His horrible bearding choices (the Swift mess made me loose some respect for him) and his constant Looking for the right woman/I'm so straight because I had screen sex with Anne Hathway a thousand times, is becoming to be annoying. Why can't he just be the nice guy he appears to be and come out? It could only help his career. His own poor choices and listening to his managements advice (Prince of Persia and pretending to date Reese & Swift anyone) have done the damage already.
ReplyDelete@sio - after watching Cameron Diaz on Letterman last night I'd have to say she is the most annoying actress in the industry right now.
ReplyDeleteTo those who don't know who Bear is, I suggest watching Discovery Channel once in a while :) He travels to the most amazing places on earth, and shows you how to survive.
ReplyDeleteMy husband watches both shows, but I rarely tune in. I would love to see both celeb episodes. I think BG took Will to Sweden and I would also LOVE to see Iceland!
ReplyDeleteI don't think Jake is THAT much of a pansy though...I mean really, would you even bother to go on this show if you were?
You're right Enty, Les Stroud is much better than Bear Grylls. Just the sound of his name makes me cringe, especially the way he's selling himself out to commercial products now.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great he brings celebs along, I'm sure it's all for publicity's sake, because even though Bear has 'made' 17 different types of shelters, he still has the support of a camera crew around him at all times. Imagine doing all he does completely ALONE, and filming it completely ALONE.
Watch Survivorman and you'll see how much a better 'survivor' Les Stroud is. Personally I've learned much more from him than Bear!
(and I love the idea of these two together also:) haha
@ Patty you are absolutely correct. Bear is the fake Les Stroud is the real deal. What I am more concerned about is WTF is going on the Bears' legs in this pic? Is he trying to not look taller than Jake.. I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to mention I do not find Bear the least bit attractive.. Jake on the other hand..
