Four For Friday

#1 & #2 - This C list mostly television actress has been known more for her beauty than her acting talent. However, she recently had a chance to land one of the most coveted positions that as available. With her current network show not doing so well, our actress as offered the host job for this talent competition. Pay? $250,000 per week. It as all hers. Then her manager in order to try and get more money said our actress was not really interested in hosting at this time. The job went to someone else, and our actress has no idea her manager cost her the job she wanted most.

#1 - Actress
#2 - Show

#3 - What male head of state who is outspokenly anti-homosexual is actually gay and having an affair with his male secretary.

#4 - This almost newborn baby to this B list actress was born with a birth defect. The reason? She did coke most of the way through her pregnancy.

#4 -

  1. Love that guess, henny!

  2. 1)A coveted position? The only shows I can think of in that category are singing competitions, but why would an actress be qualified to host something like that?

    Leighton Meester? She sings. She can act, though. Hmmm.

    3) PLEASE BE THE POPE!!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! He DOES love Prada, after all.

    4) Ugh. I dunno.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Juicy ones today, enty!

    #3 is (I hope!!!!!!) Ahmajinadad. More likely it's Berlusconi

    ReplyDelete
  4. X Factor for the show, but I don't know who the actress would be.

    ReplyDelete
  5. #2 Rick Perry, practically not even blind.

    ReplyDelete
  6. My guess for #2 is X-Factor. I'm stumped as to who the actress could be. Simon Cowell seems to like brunettes, though, so who is brunette and known for their looks and C list?

    ReplyDelete
  7. @Jim - "head of state" means the leader of a country, not a governor.

    ReplyDelete
  8. #3 Not Berlusconi--too many women (teenagers, actually) have come forward that have either slept with him or just been ogled or fondled by him. I don't know any conservative male Euro-heads of state off the top of my head, so I'd go with the Pope or an African or Middle Eastern leader.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Actually, I do believe it is the pope. There were rumors last year...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Rick Perry would be awesome though (maybe 'head of state' was a sort of throw-off but a clue, too....).

  12. #1 - no clue

    #3 - Rick Santorum

    #4 - Evangaline Lily

    ReplyDelete
  14. #1 Vanessa Williams (known as a beauty queen)
    #2 X-factor?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @cowllector - GREAT GUESS! I like it!

    ReplyDelete
  16. #4 Evangeline Lilly (hope not, but she fits)

    ReplyDelete
  20. #3, the hater in Iran
    #4 someone who had a preemie? It says almost newborn, then says was born.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm thinking maybe Longoria and Desperate Housewives for 1 and 2? Or maybe Annalynne McCord (thought I can't see anyone offering her 250K a week for ANYTHING)

    ReplyDelete
  22. #1 & #2 - Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock?

    #3 - I'll say The Pope too.

    #4 - Evangeline Lilly isn't B list.

    Marion Cottilard?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Vanessa Williams is a PERFECT guess. I'm on board with her for #1.

    ReplyDelete
  24. #1/2 Vanessa Williams is a good guess for X Factor.

    #4 Penelope Cruz or Toni Collette

    ReplyDelete
  25. I took almost newborn to be a recently born baby. Not new though, so someone born earlier than May, maybe? This would rule out Cotillard, Pink, etc

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nikki Cox or Jane Krazkowski

    ReplyDelete
  27. Evangeline Lily is NOT B list. And Kate Hudson's baby isn't even born yet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Could it be the baby with the much maligned name, Bear Bleu? With the way she is about healthy eating and how granola-y she is, I highly doubt it's Alicia Silverstone, but you just never know....... Or, I'm just throwing this out there: how about Christina Applegate? She seems super normal and well-adjusted, but her significant other gives me the skeeves and definitely seems like he could be a cokehead. She had the baby in January, so almost newborn totally fits.

    Rick Perry has a gay son he has completely disowned. Doubt it was him, he is a REAL GAY HATER. Remember that everyone when the lying scumbag wants to run for President.

    1. Vanessa Williams
    2. XFactor
    3. Want this hypocrite NAMED
    4. Will have to look at this child everyday and know what her selfishness did. Disgusting. Reveal her as well.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  31. Uh, guys, Cotillard and Cruz are A-list by a mile........

    ReplyDelete
  32. #4 - Bryce Dallas Howard?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cotillard's baby was born less than 2 weeks ago. That's not almost newborn, that's most definitely newborn. I was thinking born in 2011 would make the cut, maybe stretching it a tiny bit. Anyone less than a month old is newborn.

    ReplyDelete
  34. for #3, there's a long going rumor that morroco's king mohammed 6 is playing for the other team although that is still illegal there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have a hard time caring about talent competition shows.

    If #3 is Ahmadinejad then he is an even bigger piece of shit than I already thought.

    No idea on #4, but that shit is CRIMINAL.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous2:02 PM

    What about Ali Larter, Is she B-list?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Evangeline Lilly had a baby? I didn't know that. . .

    There have been rumors about Rick Perry for years. Like bluebonnetmom said, I hate hypocrites like that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well I guess that Cheryl chick with so-said heavy british accent is not an actress but she sure lost her hosting job. Wasn't that X Factor.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Rick Perry has not disowned his son nor is the son gay. Griffin Perry lives in Dallas with his wife and child.

    Hope Governor Goodhair decides to run.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 1) Dunno but that sucks
    2) X Factor or that Voice thing that xtina is doing.
    3)Based on past history all white male heads of anything, be it religious empires or shipping companies have some sexual skeleton in their closet. The hypocrites really piss me off though.
    4) Dunno but Im sure the nanny is well paid. Thought Mimi but it says actress.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hopefully #4 is neither Mariska Hargitay (baby girl born April 7th) or jane Krakowski (baby son born April 27). I love 'em both, and don't see either as drug abusers.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hargitay adopted her baby girl, can't be her.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mariska's baby was adopted.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think #3 is and American, "head of state" is not "head of a state" and I can't imagine Enty making a mistake like that or using it throw anyone off. I definitely think it's a middle east h.o.s.

    #4 is just wrong. Normally when it involves kids I don't want them revealed and find them rather distasteful, but this chick should be called out. And if she's still using even after seeing the result of her actions while pregnant I hope DCF/CDS.whatever are called in.

    1&2. Man this pales in comparison. No guesses.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous2:46 PM

    Uh, Bluebonnet, where do you get your information? Perry hosted the bachelor party for his son in Vegas shortly before Griffin's 2009 wedding. You might want to verify stuff before you post it as "fact."

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Pope has long been rumored to be banging his much younger "assistant".

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jeri, Cheryl Cole lost her position as a judge, not as a host.

    ReplyDelete
  48. #3- After a quick google search of "outspoken homophobic heads of state" I've decided it's probably someone from Africa...

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love love all of you open minded people freely bashing the leader of the Catholic Church. You "hope" its him??? Talk about bigotry. Or do you not see it that way because the shoe is on the other foot? I really don't get it?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Rick Perry has not disowned his son nor is the son gay. Griffin Perry lives in Dallas with his wife and child.

    Just because he has a wife and a kid, doesn't mean he isn't gay. It's called being on the down low.

    1. I don't think #1 is Vanessa Williams. I thought Enty meant "known for her beauty" because the actress is very pretty...I don't know who it is. Can't think of an answer for the other three either.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous3:18 PM

    Nicky, even if Griffin Perry is a closeted gay, which I greatly doubt, Bluebonnet also claimed that Perry has "completely disowned" him and as a result is a "lying scumbag," which is patently false. I mean, he may be a lying scumbag (he is a politician, after all), but if he is, it isn't because he has a gay son he's disowned.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Ice Angel --

    1)Rampant, documented pedophilia.

    2)Inexcusable homophobia.

    3)Refusing to distribute condoms in AIDS-ravaged nations (including our own.)

    4)A long history of misogyny. YOU, for example, could *never* have a leadership role in that church. Doesn't that bother you?

    5) Its current leader has ties to NAZISM.

    Um, sorry, but I think the Catholic Church deserves to be criticized.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Forget Rick Perry. Please. Why is his name even brought up. I live here in TX. And nada about him. Soembody's just wishing.

    However, Ahmadinejad. he's the piece of shit that puts Men to death who WAX THEIR CHEST because he thinks they are gay.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Vatican State.
    Head of state.
    Pope.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I meant I think it's a city-state.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It is, it's not a part of Rome and is separate from Italy.

    I think Vanessa Williams is now more known for her acting than her beauty, and she is a decent actress. Not her, I don't even think she'd be interested in hosting.

    ReplyDelete
  57. WOW! Governor Perry must be running for President or Pope given the sudden intense wishcasting about his son and his purported gay "hating." Completely undeterred by facts, of course. Y'all so saaaad.

    Like the jackass who wrote that being gay would make Ahmadinejad worse than he already is. NO, he'd still be just as bad. Don't look now but your contempt for gay people is showing. Think first, then type.

    Lastly, whoever wrote "Based on past history all white male heads of anything, be it religious empires or shipping companies have some sexual skeleton in their closet" is too galactically stoopid to be outside of the crib unsupervised.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Did anyone see the photo's of Marion Cotillard doing a shoot for Dior, she looks fantastic...would never guess she had a baby 2 weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Vanessa Williams is C List?! Really? I don't think so. But the other clues do fit.

    ReplyDelete
  60. For years I've heard that about Putin... even from a soprano who was pleased with rumors about her being his mistress.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Ida:

    6.) The pope has blowjob lips.

    ReplyDelete
  63. *waving* I'm that jackass, Amartel! And if you actually think I can't despise someone MORE than I already do for being a hypocrite in ADDITION to being a murdering, homophobic, sexist tyrant, then I guess you live in a small little world.

    If I were you, I'd take your own advice about thinking before typing. I'm not sure how you're getting from A to me being homophobic, but it's incredibly laughable. *ruffles your hair* You crazy scamp.

    ReplyDelete
  64. It would be funny if it was Putin, since he's such a sex symbol - UGH.

    Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was the Pope, or Ahmajinadad. I lean more towards the Pope.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Vanessa has a job already, on Desperate Housewives. She doesn't fit this at all.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Evangeline is definitely B-list. She had the lead on a long-running hit show, so even if she's not doing anything now, a good portion of middle America would recognizing her.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I havent heard about the pope being gay but if he really is banging his assistant that is FABULOUS. omg!

    I want the pope mobile btw, like REALLY badly.It's like the original gangsta car

    ReplyDelete
  68. @Jasmine -- "I want the pope mobile btw, like REALLY badly.It's like the original gangsta car"

    THIIIISSSSSS!

    I really hope the vanity plate says "POPEMBL"

    ReplyDelete
  69. @MISCH: i saw Cotillard candids:it's crazy because she gained many weight during her pregnancy

    ReplyDelete
  70. 4. Is Gretchen Mol b list?

    ReplyDelete
  71. why didnt #4's baby get taken at birth by CPS? Because they are a celebrity? This is disgusting beyond comprehension. No reason to protect her, that baby will have to permanently live with some big challenges because its mother is a selfish b!tch. My 3 smallest kids are drug babies, and let me tell you when they writhe from withdrawal, it is not pretty. FILTH AND FOUL this makes me mad.

    ReplyDelete
  72. @ms and others: Don't forget that long ago in a galaxy far away, Vanessa Williams was Miss America (USA?) and indeed known for her beauty.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sherry - hahaha yeah I know but I'm thinking now.

    I keep ignoring #4 because it's too upsetting. And I bet the Mom is so whacked out she doesn't blame herself. Nothing gets me more than child and animal abuse.

    But I don't think it's Evangeline, she's supposedly clean. I was a Lostie. Probably pot, but she's too laid back for coke.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Vanessa Williams would fit for 1 since DH isn't bringing in the numbers it used to, and she would probably do a good job as a host or judge on X Factor or AI. But I do think she is higher than C list. But I guess we will find out who it is soon when someone fires their manager.

    2 could be the Pope, but I like the Putin guess.

    As for 4 I this too will also probably come out at some point. Poor kid.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I always wondered why Alicia Silverstone dropped completely off the map. I guess coke would explain it, but that's just so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  76. But then again, since she dropped off the map, I'm not sure she's still B-list.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I really like the Gretchen Mol guess for #4. Does Boardwalk Empire make her B list? I agree with everyone else who wants this to be revealed. What a selfish, horrible person.

    Oh, and could totally see #3 being the creepy Pope. Just another freak of the catholic church who rails against the very thing they practice in private. Pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I have to say I like the Pope guess, and while some of my dearest friends are Catholic, I can't say I have fond feelings for any institution which harbors pedophiles and helps to spread bigotry. Hey, but my friends know this, and they are self-aware enough not to believe the Pope is truly infallible.

    I think it's safe to say that a pretty decent percentage of rabid homophobes are probably that way because they're afraid and have probably been attracted to someone of the same sex at one time. I only know that the guys who bash gays are the same guys who are hitting on my gay friends when no one is around, LOL.

    I can't think of who the actress could be other than Eva Longoria.

    That is really sad about the newborn baby with issues because of her mom's addiction. Hopefully the child will be able to deal with his/her issues. :(

    ReplyDelete
  79. Kunis and X factor for 1 and 2

    ReplyDelete
  80. 1. Elisha Cuthbert -- She was a presenter on a kids show originally, and Happy Endings didn't appear to be doing so well, though it was renewed. Also, her big break came at Fox on 24.

    2. X Factor

    3. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

    4. Gretchen Mol, Alicia Silverstone and Jane Krakowski all have the potential to fit, but I don't see the latter two as big coke fiends. (What do I know?)

    Interesting thing on Mol's Wiki page. It mentions that she is a patron of an organization that does research on Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease. However, it's a genetic condition, not something that's drug induced. Perhaps the story's a little off?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Alicia Silverstone is a HIPPY, not a Crack Ho. Jane Krakowski doesn't fit.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Rocket Queen, are you my sister? we have so many of the same opinions....lmao- freaky.

    I share a lot of agreement with Ms Ida Blankeship as well......

    $3 is despicable- she should be outed. Fuck her.

    Same for #3

    ReplyDelete
  83. 1. sucks to be her, but ya can't miss what you never knew you missed out on. They make to much anyway.

    2.x-factor

    3.POPE-at least he's not touching kids, have all the affairs you want just leave the kiddies alone. I don't even get why they like kids that's so weird. If a guy pulls down his pants an even remotely reminds me if a kid I bust out laughing and get out of there, but that's just me.

    4. Apparently cocaine is a helluva that's tough EVERY damn body is preggo drug!! I'm going with the lost girl, its so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I always wondered about Brad and Angelina's kids they look weird to me.

    ReplyDelete
  85. 3) it is the |Pope, Benedict XIII and his secretary Georg Gänswein [who used to be super hot!!]

    ReplyDelete
  86. Vanessa Williams is far from C list and Desperate Housewives, while not bringing in the numbers it once was is still a hit for ABC. Look at the Nielsens. She's also a talented actress and singer, so she's known for far more than her looks.

    I automatically thought of someone much younger, not someone approaching 50.

    I thought Rick Sanotorum also, but if he's not a head of state, then oh well.

    Not sure about the pregnant coke mom.

    ReplyDelete
  87. 1) Vanessa Minnilo

    ReplyDelete
  88. @L: Georg could do much better. He's still super hot.

    ReplyDelete
  89. bflogurl, is Vanessa Minillo even working? Is she on a network show? I don't like her, so ignore most things she does.

    man, i was tired last night- I couldn;t even type correct numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Vanessa Williams is a perfect guess.
    I would classify her as C-List.

    She doesn't really open or lead in big movies anymore and hasn't for awhile.

    She is currently on a show losing steam as a B-Player. Hasn't has a singing hit in a long while.

    ReplyDelete
  91. #3 - It has to be Putin...aren't there rampart pedophilia rumors as well?

    #4 - Elizabeth Banks?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Elizabeth Banks didn't give birth to her baby. I've forgotten whether they adopted or used a surrogate, but I think it was surrogate.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yeah, Banks couldn't get pregnant I believe.

    If it is Amhadinejad (sp?), SNL called it first.

    ReplyDelete
  94. What's with all the surrogate business are they that diseased and drugged up?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous2:06 PM

    @Lola - that's a pretty ignorant comment. Not everyone can successfully carry a pregnancy to term. I believe E. Banks tried for years to get pregnant and discovered she was infertile; she's not "diseased and drugged up."

    ReplyDelete
  96. littlemeatball-you may be right but you have to admit compared to the general public these chicks have way more surrogate activity(which is good fewer crack/coke babies is a good thing)...Maybe its because they have money, but sadly I'm betting on what I mentioned earlier. The truth hurts littlemeatball sorry and there is NO SANTA CLAUS either:-(

  97. If it is Rick Perry I'm the TEXAN that is going to be laughing the loudest. HATE HIM & HIS politics.

  98. "If it is Rick Perry I'm the TEXAN that is going to be laughing the loudest. HATE HIM & HIS politics."
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    AGREE! I am so sick of his slick ass.
    I am praying he does attempt to run for President. Just so he can be properly vetted. By an outside party who are looking for skeletons.
    If there was ever a lying thieving sack of shit.... it is Perry.
    Then finally my beautiful State of Texas will be rid of him. Forever.
    ReplyDelete
  99. 1) Vanessa Williams - definitely C-list, with B+ or even A name recognition. Amirite?
    2) Pope, the fashion skills of his secretary are much too killer to be straight. Women dress for women. Gay men are the same. Straight men dress for themselves.
    3)Liken the Alicia Silverstone guess!! Just because you're a hippy or vegan doesn't always mean you can't be a cokehead.
    ReplyDelete
  100. maybe Putin - That bastard had that sweetie Lieutenant Dan Choi apprehended for protesting in Moscow.
    Evidence A: him singing Blueberry hill. Is the KGB going to track me down now? http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/52f17ff6e1/vladimir-putin-sings-blueberry-hill
  101. @lolaluvs2snack - from someone with fertility issues... F U C K you. Seriously.
    ReplyDelete
  102. @Char same to you!!! I am sorry for your struggle but my opinion has not changed.
    ReplyDelete
  103. #4. Evangeline Lilly. Her baby born May 22nd. It was rumored that there was a drug dealer on the set of Lost who was on the pay roll and supplied the actors with whatever drugs they wanted. I had heard she enjoys coke.
    ReplyDelete
  104. lolaluvs2snack...the reason they're all using surrogates is because they don't want to ruin their bodies/figures and they're also having children later in life, which is dangerous. It's harder for your body to bounceback when you're older.
    ReplyDelete
  105. Haha I've been thinking the same thing, parissucks!
    ReplyDelete
  106. @ Ida
    1)Rampant, documented pedophilia.
    Abhorrent and disgusting behavior by monsters who used the Catholic Church as an opportunity to be given access to children. Misunderstood as "fallen priests" by some church leadership. Inexcusable behavior by all. We have learned a valuable lesson and work tirelessly as a church to end this horrible behavior.
    2)Inexcusable homophobia.
    It isn't homophobia to have homosexual behavior to be against church doctrine. By the way, being gay is not against the religion, acting on it is. So is premarital sex, contraception, abortion and ultimately practicing in sexual relations not for the benefit or procreation. If you don't agree with these tenets, then you can choose to break the rules or join another church. It isn't law. It's religion.
    3)Refusing to distribute condoms in AIDS-ravaged nations (including our own.)
    Why should the church be responsible for passing out condoms??? They can choose to spend their money where they choose. Besides, why would they pass out something that is against their religion? That's like asking the church to pay for someone's abortion or divorce.
    4)A long history of misogyny. YOU, for example, could *never* have a leadership role in that church. Doesn't that bother you? Not a bit, really, because I don't wish to be church leadership. Ultimately, I really don't care because there are plenty of ways I contribute to my church and my community. That is really not my battle.
    5) Its current leader has ties to NAZISM.
    What??? Really??? Is that proven??? The pope is not a nazi and for that matter, he lives and dies, wipes his ass just like everyone else. Infallible? I really don't know about that. But I do know that I view the Catholic Church as an institution that has helped my family and me become closer to God. It is what I have chosen and while all religions are imperfect, I do not understand why anyone feels it is acceptbable to bash a religion. If you do it to a Jewish person, it is bigotry, but if you do it to a Catholic, it is well-deserved!
    Um, sorry, but I think the Catholic Church deserves to be criticized.
    The Catholic Church isn't its leadership, including the pope. The Catholic Church is its people, imperfect, flawed sinners just like everyone else. We try our best to be good Christians and good people. We pray together and do a lot of good works together throughout the world. We help feed the poor, we help spread the word of God and contibute to many acts of charity and mercy around the world.
    I don't accept that because of your political views you think it is ok to bash someone's religion. Period. He without sin cast the first stone. Is that you??? Are you perfect???
    ReplyDelete
  107. @Ice Angel, I don't know what Catholic church (not Roman Catholic?) you've been going to, but the Pope is assumed by its adherents to be infallible. I've been 'Catholic' all my life and the word of the Pope is the word of God on earth and there is only one name for those Christians who believe otherwise - "Protestant".
    Personally, I think it's nonsense, but I do know my papist dogma.
    ReplyDelete
  108. Rick Perry for Head of State.
    He is known throughout the state as "Governor Goodhair." His head of hair is legendary.
    He has bandied around the idea of Texas seceding from the Union and returning to a Republic again.
    At the beginning of his original term, there were rumors of him having an affair with the male Secretary of State of Texas.
    He is organizing a Prayer-Off with the highly homophobic hate group American Family Assoc. and has invited the remaining 49 governors.
    He is considered the GOP's "Christocrat" candidate per some news sources.
    Don't let a literal interpretation of "head of state" throw you off.
    ReplyDelete
  109. @Ice Angel --
    1. Instead of prosecuting the dozens upon DOZENS of child rapists within the church, your new Pope decided to simply shuffle said rapists among different congregations in the hopes that not being exposed to the same, familiar young tail might "cure" them. Not so much.
    There is NO other religion with such a horrific history of obscured child torture. None.
    2. "It isn't homophobia to have homosexual behavior to be against church doctrine."
    LOL. Okay. WHATEVER YOU SAY. They're just destined for hell based on who they love, I guess. No biggie!
    I wouldn't care about such psychotically bigoted views, except so many people use religion as a reason to vote/not vote for certain candidates -- and I'm sick of politicians pandering to bigoted, homophobic Biblethumpers who hate gay people because their religion deems it "immoral." You know what else is immoral? Raping children. Yep. I'm gonna flog that horse until it STOPS HAPPENING. But at long as Catholic priests have to remain "celibate", they'll get their jollies however they can, I guess.
    3. The Catholic Church needs to stop its bullshit missionary "work" in AIDS-afflicted countries if it holds a stance against condoms and birth control in general. Just stay the hell out of it. Admit that the church is nothing more than a big, politically-influenced business and keep kissing first-world Caucasian ass.
    And the Pope *does* wipe his ass like everyone else. You're correct. He also shits on a solid gold toilet. If the Catholic Church wanted to purchase Trojan's entire supply of condoms, it could, and people would still blindly tithe and it would regain all that money back in NO time. Money isn't really the issue here.
    My point: either get with the times, or get the hell out. If Mother Teresa were standing in front of me right now, I'd tell her the same thing. Distributing condoms and educating people about how to be sexually responsible is a compassionate act. Being altruistic doesn't mean shit if you don't have common sense to accompany it.
    4) That's nice. Good for you. But plenty of women are FAR more ambitious than you, and they should have the right to pursue a religious vocation as a viable way to make money. If you're content being held back by a bunch of people who deem you unworthy of that authority based on the fact that you were born with a vagina, then good for you. But the Catholic Church STILL views women as nothing more than childbearing vessels tainted by sin, and I find that incredibly offensive.
    And I like the pill, thanks. Plenty of other ladies do, too, and we resent the shit out of your church trying to prevent access to contraception. If you'd like to live in a world that resembles 1945, that's lovely and all, but plenty of us would like to have control over if and when we procreate.
    5. Your denial is adorable. The man was a Nazi Youth. Fox News might not say so, but Eggs Benedict is a shady character, no matter how much white he wears.
    Based on how many lives have been ruined or aversely affected by your tax-except organization of choice, I have zero respect for the Catholic Church. None.
  110. @Ida-
    All of your reasons in the world do not justify your bigotted language and nature. I find you completely offensive and you really shouldn't be using a celebrity message board to spread your hate.
    ReplyDelete
  111. @Fawn-I go to the same Catholic Church as you do. I admit that I do not adhere to every tenet set by the church, as does every other person on the face of the earth. No one is perfect. But to me, the church law is my religious law and I can choose whether to follow that law or be considered a sinner by the church. My other choice is to leave the church. At this time, I find that the church has given me a lot of goodness in my life. I also feel that the church needs its members to defend it against hatred and bigotry like any other religion. I also feel that the church needs its parishoners to help build it back up to where it should be and held in esteem again.
    I also do not understand why people have so much hate for a church that they do not belong to in the first place. If they don't agree with its tenets, then fine. I have the utmost respect for my friends that are Jewish, Muslim, other Christian faiths and even many that consider themselves to be agnostic and even atheist.
    I don't go around bashing people for their beliefs. I don't go around bashing people's religions, nationalies, sexual orientations, etc... Unfortunately, I cannot convince others that they should be respectful of my faith, even though I am respectful of theirs.
  112. @Ice Angel -- You're right. I DO "hate" child rape, homophobia, and misogyny. You're absolutely correct. And I will hate those things -- and I will rail against institutions which support them politically and monetarily-- until my last breath, or until the Catholic Church becomes a laughable afterthought.
    If that's your definition of "bigoted," then you need to find some people who've actually been persecuted. I don't ever see you piping up in any threads which discuss minority figures being mistreated. Just sayin.'
    And if you don't feel this subject belongs on a celebrity message board, then you're free to go elsewhere. CDAN has long been a haven for those of us interested in pop culture, as well as the world at large. Enty posts his opinion about disparate topics, and we respond to them if we choose. Scroll along if you can't take any criticism of your deeply flawed religion.
    I really don't care if you find me offensive, and I'm not going anywhere.
    The End.
  113. @Ida...OK...I guess you win because you're meaner and louder. Happy for you.
    Also, you obviously haven't read a lot of my posts if you feel that I haven't piped up for minority rights. My daughter is African American and I have adopted 3 children. I am a very strong advocat of children's rights and actually, victim's rights right within my own very flawed Catholic Church.
    But you go on believing that Catholics believe in child molestation if that is what you really want to believe. I will continue to scroll and know that I have not said anything to you that can be perceived as anything less than civil, while you have used inflammatory and hateful language.
    I do wish you the best.
  114. @Ice Angel --
    I don't think your church "believes" in child molestation, but it sure as hell condones it. And I never said I hated you personally, but I DO hate the fact that the Catholic Church is bolstered by its tax exempt status and political might.
    Like any fiercely devout person, you won't listen to any criticism regarding your faith. It's like tossing butter at a wall and trying to make it stick: it ain't gonna happen, so why even bother?
    You're free to sit in a pew whenever you want. That doesn't mean I have to take your religion seriously. And, really, it shouldn't bother you all that much.
    Like I said before, religion only bothers ME because dogmatic faith has been a detriment to American politics and lifestyle choices. The separation between church and state is a total joke, and the power of the Catholic Church is definitely culpable.
    I just wonder what you'd say if the Pope really WERE gay.
    ReplyDelete
  115. @Fawn Neun -- a Pope's teachings are only considered to be truly infallible when he deliberately offers them ex cathedra. Papal primacy and papal infallibility are two different standards of papal authority. Sorry to be a weenie but it's not a minor point.
    I love you.
    I don't even have to agree with absolutely every point. I love your fight, I love your knowledge and I hate the history of the Catholic Church, I hate what they stand for, their lies and their hypocrisy. I don't hate every person who was taught their teachings from birth or warms their benches and recites "and also with you" by rote. I understand finding comfort in that. Its behind the local diocese and beyond more and more, the closer to Rome and the things hidden there that sickens me. I know that's where you're coming from too.
  117. B Profane is right.
    And I also hate to nitpick, but I feel I need to clarify a few things I learned in a few of my anthropology/religious studies classes in college.
    The Pope has only spoken Ex Cathedra TWICE in the entire history of the Catholic Church. Both times in regards to the Holy Virginity of Mary and in the Assumption of Mary to heaven - this was back in the 1700-1800's.
    All other times he speaks, well that's just his opinion. And from what I hear, most Catholics don't pay much attention to this latest one.
    And if it turns out that THIS current pope is gay, well he wouldn't be the first one in history nor would that make him a sinner. In the Catholic Church, homosexuality is NOT a sin. It is the ACT of sodomy that is. Agree or disagree...well...that's up to the individual and their confessor..but hate is not encouraged towards the community nor does it mean that homosexuals are damned to hell.
    The Catholic Church accepts almost everyone in their heaven (including druggies, athiests, alcoholics, King Henry VIII, transgendered, gays, hippies, republicans, scientologists, Madonna) after a stay in purgatory - which is where everyone goes anyway, since no one goes directly into heaven in the Catholic Church.
    That the church does not agree or want gay marriage to be legalized, well, the gay community is not alone in this one. The church doesn't recognize civil marriages either, so everyone NOT married in a Catholic Church is essentially sinning. Same thing for those who are remarried after a divorce. Again, not a big deal for those who aren't Catholic.
    And in regards to females having church authority, there already was a FEMALE Pope. Sort of. Pope Joan was reportedly removed from church history and the papal lists by Pope Clement in the 10th century and renamed Pope John VIII. Rumors, yes, but loud enough that people still talk about it today.
    Again, nitpicking, but just fyi.
    On a side note, you do have these same feelings towards the mormon church right? 'Cause they DO think gays are damned to hell and they don't let women hold the priesthood either, nor are non-mormons ever getting into their 3 layer, Mormon Only VIP celestial kingdom - and let's not even get into the unreported and unspoken abuse going on in THAT one, we might be here for years discussing just that one.
  118. @anotheramy -- Thanks! I have nothing against individual Catholics, though I admittedly don't understand their level of blind devotion to a faulty institution. I just take offense to the notion that the church is so sacred that it *shouldn't* be questioned or criticized by anyone -- devout or not -- because they DEFinitely deserve it.
    Sorry -- it's early. I haven't had my coffee yet, so I'm not as articulate as I'd like to be right now. :-)
    BondGirl -- Thanks to you for the background info. I took a few religion classes in college, too, but I think I walked away with more knowledge about polytheistic belief systems. That anecdote about the female Pope is SO interesting, and pretty telling.
    I love the history of religion, admittedly, and I love architecturally grand cathedrals and whatnot. It's just the current climate of faith that skeeves me out and makes me a skeptic.
    Oh, and don't even get me STARTED on freakin' Mormonism. I almost went there yesterday, but decided against it. ;-)
  119. I am so happy to see the language coming down a bit. Ida-I certainly understand your aversion to the Catholic Church and your criticism of it and respect your right to say that.
    It's just that in doing so, I simply ask that you do so in a respectful way. I loved reading some of the further detailed explanations of our faith and appreciate it. Obviously these people know a lot more about it than I do.
    It's just frustrating to be called names and be told we're "stupid" for beileving our faith. It seems that while we are moving toward a more respectful dialougue about homosexuality, racial and ethnic tolerance, etc...it seems that it just doesn't seem to apply to those of us of Christian faith.
    And no-I do not think the pope is infallible or perfect on an every day basis. He is human, just like the rest of us and will answer ultimately to God in the long run. I don't know if he's gay, and quite frankly, I really don't care. I never met the guy, never will and ultimately, will be judged by God, not him, in the long run as well.
    Just remember that our church is our people and while there have been those in leadership positions that have done horrible things, we the people of the church do not condone that behavior whatsoever. And to say my religion is made up of a bunch of child molesters is unfair in the same way that saying Muslims are all terrorists.
    As I said before, these evil men hijacked our religion for the purposes of their own evil deeds. It was never about celibacy. It was never about some poor gay priest that can't handle celibacy. It is about evil people who work their whole lives to get into positions where they have access to children. Whether it be priests, scout leaders, teachers, counselors, coaches, even parents!!! Evil is evil and these monsters do not represent me or my faith. The sooner we get them out of our churches and into prisons where we belong, the better.
    By the way, one of our best family friends, a Catholic priest, is one of the main 3 guys who unconvered the story in the first place. He investigated this for years, worked with the victims and has appeared on all of the major news shows speaking about this. We are so proud of him and his work and support his work 100%!!! Trust me, no one wants reform more than us Catholics.
