Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski have made two previous hilarious commercials for New Era about their love of the Yankees and Red Sox. Now comes part three. No physical violence this time but there is dog painting.
Could someone please explain the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry to me, please? How old, the severity, the reasons, the gossip, etc. I don't get it.
Weird sidenote: a friend of mine has a dad who's a preeminent baseball statistician, and he's also a Red Sox devotee. He was interviewed on 60 Minutes, and he even had a cameo on The Simpsons. Now, THAT is the mark of fame, if you ask me.
Everything I know about sports, I learned from watching Friday Night Lights. And that's a show which deals with football, not baseball.
Also, I initially wondered about the dog painting thing, but given how Alec's such an animal rights person, I doubt the dogs cared, nor were they aversely affected. We're not talking about ponies with glitter on them or anything.
I'm not a huge baseball fan. But as a NFL East fan I totally understand rabid, blood-lust-inducing, gut-wrenching rivalry. And I loved these commercials.
Huge baseball fan - Go Phillies! And because of my philly love, I of course despise the yankees, mets and boston. That said these commercials are awesome!!! Love it!
As an AL Easter, I hate both, so they can jam their commercial on the one.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun, I watched all three just now. I know nothing about baseball other than there's no crying in baseball... I'm really loving Alec Baldwin!

Ida, is your friend's dad Bill James?! If so, how cool!
ReplyDeleteYeah, hate the Yankees, as I suspect that any non-New York city with a baseball team does.
ReplyDeleteAlec is comic genius.
@Dianne -- mmmmmaaaaaaaaaaybe. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHis daughter is pretty badass, too, I must say.
since I'm from somewhere in europe I don't care for baseball. but the three ads are simply GOLD!

ReplyDeleteI adore Alec Baldwin - I think someone here said he had a Twitter account the other day and I was so on it!
ReplyDeleteI think Alec Baldwin is a great comic actor, I have no idea why he kept doing serious movies for so long, what a waste of talent.
