Today's Blind Items

When you think of two female lovers, I am not sure these are the two who would first pop into your mind. But, for several years this foreign born Academy Award winning actress had a love affair with this A list model turned C list actress. In a very interesting coincidence they are also tied together by one very interesting film role.

  1. Hmmmm...

There are a lot of foreign-born Oscar winners:

    Penelope Cruz
    Kate Winslet
    Marion Cotillard
    Charlize Theron
    Nicole Kidman
    Cate Blanchett
    Tilda Swinton
    Catherine Zeta Jones
    Rachel Weisz

  2. You wouldn'nt think Charlize for this so maybe her?
    Nicole?
Penelope is too obvious I think, don't gossip sights think she's gay anyway?

I got nothin' on the actress/model. I can't think of any just yet!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Model is Shalom Harlow or what's her name in the Resident Evil movies? She's been in a lot I think, for a model.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Tilda is just too damn easy...I want to see some guesses on this one. The key is the model.

    ReplyDelete
  5. "Tied together" makes me think of Bound. Gina Gershon and....???

    ReplyDelete
  6. @ Jordan are you talking about Milla Jojovich? I looked at her, but she has not been in a movie with the award winners that I can find.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Actually, bluebonnetmom, Tilda lives with 2 men. As in, in a relationship with 2 men. The information was clearly out there when she was nominated for her first Oscar.

As for the blind, way too vague. If you look at Dana's list of foreign winners (Merci Dana!), you have to look back on all their past movies, and find which model turned C actress was in it as well.

The only one who popped in my mind is Elizabeth Hurley (definitely C actress, and yes, used to be a very A-list model right around the time Hugh was caught with a prostitute in his car).

    ReplyDelete
  8. Possible models:

    Milla Jovovich
    Molly Sims
    Elizabeth Hurley
    Rebecca Romijn

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rebecca Romijn was a top model and probably C-List as an actress now...

    ReplyDelete
  10. It does not say the actress in model were in a movie together.

"tied together by one very interesting film role."

Very interesting film role? To me this implies the actress played an interesting role, and the model has a connection of sorts to the role.

If they were in the movie together, in my mind it would say "movie" - not "role"

    ReplyDelete
  11. I was thinking Estella Warren and Helena Bonham Carter but Helena never won the Oscar.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think it's Charlize.....I've always thought she is gay.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I thought of Estella, too, but she's Canadian, so I think that would have been mentioned in the blind?

For the model, I'm thinking Cindy Crawford for two reasons - 1. the fact that she is the top suspect for Ted's "cookie muncher" blind and 2. that horrible horrible Fair Game movie she was in. Maybe others?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Isabella Rosselini? Did she win an Oscar?

    ReplyDelete
  15. They both played the same role in two different movies. So look for an iconic fictional character like The Evil Queen in Snow White, or a bio-pic portrayal of a real person like Britt Ekland in The Life And Death of Peter Sellers, Aileen from Monster , or Josey Aimes in North Country.

  16. Fair Game-Naomi Watts
    Fair Game-Cindy

    ReplyDelete
  17. Got it! Salma Hayek and Cindy Crawford were both in that awful Fair Game movie according to IMDB! Yay me!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  19. Neither Salma nor Naomi won Oscars, though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What about Riley Keough for the model?

She is Elvis' granddaughter and a model turned actress, but the question is...did any A list actress in that reasonable age range play in an film about Elvis? (The Academy Award could be for something else)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Okay, how's this:

Cate Blanchett played Maid Marion in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood movie.

Kate Moss played Maid Marion in whatever this is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212579/

    ReplyDelete
  22. Penelope Cruz and Shalom Harlow were both in Vanilla Sky, PC won an Oscar and is foreign born. SH was a supermodel in her heydey

    ReplyDelete
  23. Although I wouldn't call Kate Moss even a C-list actress.

    Back to the drawing board.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ Rita, she just looks so butch...but you are right. I remember reading that somewhere. That girl must have some skill set in the bedroom! lol....

    ReplyDelete
  25. Rebecca Romijn for the c-list actress and Halle Berry? They were in the X-men movies. I doubt this is right...just thought I'd throw it out there.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't think they were in a movie together. I think they played the same person/character in two different movies. Like for instance, Cate Blanchett and Dame Judy Dench have both played Queen Elizabeth I. I am not guessing them for the blind, just using them for an example.

On a Cate Blanchett related note, she played Bob Dylan in that movie where several different actors played Bob Dylan. Was there a big deal made at the time about Cate making out with another actress for the movie? Was there an A-list model-turned C-list actress in that movie? Maybe that's the very interesting film role that put them together.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hmmm Tilda Swinton was in that movie as well so she too could be the Academy award winning actress.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oops...missed the foreign born. Forget mine.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oops...missed the foreign born. Forget mine.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dammit, you're right, Dana - I could have sworn Salma won for Frida. Although she did produce it and the film won two Oscars....am I reaching?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Gisele Whateverhernameis. A-List model, been in a few shitty movies.

    No clue on the actress.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @RJ - exactly my thoughts.
Or the model has a real-life connection to a character the actress played

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Rita, that's a lie. She lives with her boyfriend but has a good relationship with her ex. She talks about it here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe1nidNh53M

    ReplyDelete
  34. This one is better, it contains exactly the part I'm talking about.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rw8KwEMSYI

    ReplyDelete
  35. Amber Valletta could be the model, too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What about Emma Thompson? Most of her roles have been interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anna Paquin & Famke Janssen from X-Men?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Okay - don't bite, but Helen Mirren (won an Oscar) was in Raising Helen with Amber Valetta. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Cate Blanchett and Kate Moss both play Maid Marion.

    http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0003911/

    ReplyDelete
  40. Huh, I didn't realize that Anna Paquin wasn't American, but she's Canadian.

It could be her, but didn't she recently come out as bisexual? So this wouldn't be too surprising.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @RJ - or perhaps they played the same person in one film, but at different ages?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oops - that's what Dana said. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I thought Amber Valletta for the model/actress but I'm sure it's not :-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. What about Kelly LeBrock (ex Mrs. Steven Segal) for the model turned actress?

She was in Weird Science, which is an interesting role. - also we know she likes women via Janice Dickinson outing her with their affair.

I can't think of who the Award winning actress would be though

    ReplyDelete
  45. @RocketQueen, maybe I'm not SO off after all!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm agreeing with Cate Blanchett (A-lister born in Australia) and Kate Moss (A-list model turned actress). They both have played Maid Marion; Cate in "Robin Hood" and Kate in "Blackadder Back & Forth" in 1999.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Was going to say that Anna never won an Oscar, but not true, she won for The Pianist when she was 9 or 11 I believe.

As for the model, it could also be Rebecca Romjin, always the X-Men connection.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's pretty well known Kate Moss gets into women, but would we call her a "turned-c-list-actress" ?

To me if it were her she would be described as simply an A list model.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I thought Anna Paquin was from New Zealand.

I'm throwing out Tyra Bank's name as the model, because she was in some movies.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really can't see Kate Moss "turning to C list actress". The wording implies the person is now an actress, and Kate is still primarily a model. Hell, I didn't even know she'd acted at all.

That being said, we've got some great guesses here. We've got to be close.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Nicole Kidman is not foreign born, she is foreign raised. She was actually born in Hawaii. (Same with Gibson, born in the US, raised in Australia).

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anna was born in Canada, raised in New Zealand and won her Oscar for The Piano not The Pianist (Adrian won his for that role).

    ReplyDelete
  53. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's probably Anna Paquin and one of the model/actresses from X-men. The "surprising" thing about it might have been Anna's age at the time of supposed affair??? That's all I got.

    ReplyDelete
  55. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've got one but I don't see Bellucci being a C list actress though...

Charlize Theron is playing the Evil Queen in the new SW film. While Monica Bellucci portrayed the character in Brothers' Grimm.

The other is Rachel Weisz since she's in talks to play the Evil Queen and was in The Whistleblower with Bellucci.

    ReplyDelete
  57. It's Nicole. That's all I've got.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Was Bellucci a model? That might work.

How about Isabella Rossellini? She was a former model. Not sure about the Oscar winner, though.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yep Bellucci was a model before going into acting.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nicole Kidman and Elle MacPherson who were both in Batman movies?

    ReplyDelete
  61. How about Famke Janssen and Halle Berry? Both were Bond girls (and both in XMen)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Interesting but Halle Berry isn't foreign born.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Dammit! Mixed up my foreign borns. For some reason, this one is driving me crazy. I feel like the answer will be SO obvious when we get it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What about Natalie Portman -Foreign born + academy award- and Rene Ruso- model actress. Movie Thor????

    ReplyDelete
  65. Portman was born in Israel, also.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Molly Sims eats pussy

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anna Paquin and Milla Jovovich both played Joan of Arc in different movies.

Cameron Diaz was also a model, but I'm sure she's at least a B+.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh, I like that guess, Momster!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think Momster got this one!!!! Yes indeed they both played Joan of Arc, though Anna is only credited as "voice". Plus, Anna has already come out as Bi so maybe she was referring to this relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Damn. My very first search was for Jovovich & Joan of Arc. Missed Paquin playing the role. I think you got it!

    ReplyDelete
  71. sounds like they may have played the same character like in a superhero type series.

Has Cat Woman ever been played by a foreigner/ award winner?

For example Charlize theron played Aeon Flux and Cindy Crawford also portrayed the character in a 1996 Pepsi ad.

Diane Weist and Andie Macdowell have both played the character Vi Moore in Footloose (1981 & 2011) but Diane Weist is not foreign born.

I think Charlize and Cindy are a good fit. I'm sure there are more examples of actresses playing the same characters in different films with one being an oscar winner and the other a former model, but I got tired of looking.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Momster - that sounds like it could be it! good job!

    ReplyDelete
  73. OK, not to rain on the parade here but is Milla Jovovich a C List actress? Her name is above the titles in a lot of movies and she headlines the Resident Evil franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  74. OK off topic, but just watching the latest episode of "The Killing".

BEST new show peeps. Check it out if you have the means. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I like the Cate and Kate Maid Marion guesses, and the Cindy and Charlize Aeon Flux guesses.

It can't be Dame Mirren. No sexegenarian can be THAT sexy, dammit!! Men's heads would explode.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Salma and Veronica Webb

    ReplyDelete
  77. Cindy Crawford is an interesting guess as the rumors were rampant when she was married to Richard Gere and then did the Vanity Fair cover with KD Lang. Elizabeth Hurley was never an A-list anything. She was spokesperson for Estee Lauder but she was famous already and when Hugh Grant was arrested, she wasn't a model, super or otherwise. Worked in fashion in NY and knew all the girls and if she were A-list, I would've worked with her.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nicole Kidman and Elle McPherson. Not sure the movie connection though.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wait a minute! Tilda lives with 2 men?!?!??!? How did I miss this! Gala was always my hero, but now Tilda too!! I really need to step up my game!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Tilda doesn't live with two men.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm going with Anna Paquin and Milla Jovovich. Both played the same character, Joan of Arc. Anna is foreign born, Milla was an A list model, turned C list actress. The only other A list model turned C list actress as a guess that I like, would be Elle McPherson...but don't know where the connection would be to an A list foreign born.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Himmmm, you rock.

    That's all. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Milla J was born in Ukraine...

    ReplyDelete
  84. Charlize Theron and Cindy Crawford. Charlize played Aeon Flux in a movie, and Cindy played Aeon Flux in that old Pepsi commercial

    ReplyDelete
  85. OK I have a guess to throw out there...

I think the model might be Madonna, who although is more famous for being a singer, also has modeled quite a bit over the years for her Sex book and ad campaigns, and according to IMDB, Tilda Swinton played Madonna in a movie called The Garden in 1990. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well that was a pretty good guess but I don't think Madonna would have ever been considered an A-List model..

    I'm sticking with Charlize/Cindy.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek for the win!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Agreed Chri.stina85. And when someone is an Alist model, that implies that was their bread and butter career. Madonna modeled, but that doesn't make it your career.

    ReplyDelete
  89. This is too good a pairing to ignore...Romjin was in that eastwick TV series, playing Cher's role from the movie. And of course Cher has an oscar. I know she's not foreign born, but what a story that would be!

    ReplyDelete
  90. that's famke janssen. i dont know who the cartoon is referring to.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Halle Berry and Rebecca Romjin--Movie Xmen

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hm, although I guess maybe Cleveland doesn't count as foreign, back to the drawing board.

    ReplyDelete
  93. buffycv, thanks for posting about Tilda Swinton. The British tabloids spun a story about her family b/c her ex-husband lived nearby (not with) their family still. They were not a threesome and all have said so.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Famke Janssen - she was absolutely an A-list model before becoming a(relatively less successful) actress: she walked runways for many major designers, had campaigns for Yves St. Laurent and Chanel, was a Victoria Secret model, covers of Elle and Vogue.

Famke was reportedly offered the role of Aeon Flux but turned it down before it went to Charlize Theron (though that wouldn't help the claim that she's a C-list actress). Or they also both appeared in Woody Allen's Celebrity.
