It is now officially lunch time on a holiday and I have to light the grill. I need some meat grilled over hot coals and some wonderful cold, alcoholic drinks. Have a great day today everyone and be safe.
Today is not a holiday to me. It's just another day. I will not be "grilling", kissing the asses of the Armed Forces or whatever other bullshit people do on days like this.
I won't be "kissing the asses of the Armed Forces," but I will be remembering my Great Uncle Bob, who passed away a few weeks ago. His boat was sunk in Pearl Harbor, but he survived, and went on to help win World War II. Since the Korean War, our wars have had plenty of moral ambiguity, but it's impossible for me not to feel absolute respect for the people who helped put an end to the Nazi atrocities.
Nicely said, Mooshki. My grandfather came back, badly damaged but alive, from World War II for Canada, but I lost one of my great-uncles, all of who fought in a Maori unit from New Zealand. I am no fan of war or fighting, but in the case of WWII, might was right.
Thanks for the posts today, Enty! I'm stuck at work and almost didn't come to the blog because I thought you'd take the day off (which I would understand). But I'm glad I did!
Enjoy your holiday Enty. May it be filled with bacon flavoured martinis. If only you'd been north of the 49 for last Monday - you could have joined us for our annual Meat-A-Palooza :D
My great-grandfather fought in both WW1/11 in some pretty big battles (historically speaking), so I will be "kissing ass" today, even though I am not American, and thanking those who fight so I can be a jerk on the internet.
Splitting hairs, but yeah. I guess my great-grandfather fought zee Germans about 90% of the time, but maybe if he hadn't I'd be living in nazi-Canada. Actually, no. I'd be dead. So thanks, great-grandfather.
Happy Memorial Day, Enty. enjoy your time.
ReplyDeleteBacon burgers and beer? Mmmmm....bacon.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one! :)
Happy memorial day, Americans!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, Enty. Hope it's warm. It's raining buckets here.

ReplyDelete@Sue-Ellen - Suffragettes fought for your rights, not your grandfather. But it's OK. You didn't know any better. And neither does everyone else.
