Scott Weiland Says He Was Raped When He Was 12
Lately it seems that every celebrity has said they were raped or molested as a child. Last year they all said they had been bullied. Next year they will all have been abducted by aliens wearing Tom Cruise t-shirts. In his memoir that is just being released, Scott Weiland talks about his heroin use, including shooting heroin with Courtney Love, other drug use, how he joined Velvet Revolver for the money, and blames them for not being supportive when he was going through his struggles with addiction. In the memoir he seems to do a lot of blaming of others and not so much blaming of himself. He also says that when he was 12 he was raped by a male high school senior. Scott says he suppressed the memory and only rediscovered it within the past two years thanks to therapy. He also now remembers everything the guy said to him during the incident.
Sadly, most people have been raped. It makes me sad to hear this about him. I think he is a great talent. Having said that, I think he needs to get it together and get on with his life. Why would the band stick around to support him instead of getting on with their lives! Life is too short for drugs.
ReplyDeleteDon't judge me too harshly, but I have always thought this one was a babe. Grey teef and all.
ReplyDelete"Most people have been raped" HUH?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about "most", but definitely a lot more than we think. 4 out of 5 in my circle of girlfriends (including myself) have been roofied, date raped or molested by a family friend/relative. I'm glad people are talking about it. It's the only way people will start reporting it.
ReplyDeleteRemember that day when Enty said 99% of parents would report sexual abuse? And then most everyone had a story?? It seemed like just about everyone who posts. Either a story about themself or someone they knew personally. It's way more than we think.
ReplyDeleteum....I'm going to need some proof about this "everyone has been raped" stuff. I've never been raped, nor have 95% of the women I know. I am glad that people are talking about it and doing something to stop it, but a general statement like that disrespects the people who HAVE been raped.
ReplyDelete"Next year they will all have been abducted by aliens wearing Tom Cruise t-shirts."
ReplyDeleteThat will be in Katie's tell all.
Yeah, hyperbole is fine in moderation, but it's best not to use it when it comes to touchy subjects like rape.
My sister, myself and my Mother were all molested before we were in our preteens. I also had a couple of pretty dicey dating experiences that could have turned into a rape and did not. I was lucky in that respect and got out of the situation. I bet the numbers are HUGE as to molestation in this country. And Rape probably has some pretty high statistics as well. Shocking and sad.
ReplyDeleteSue Ellen I am with you. I always had this fantasy of him - where I was running my fingers through his hair while we were getting busy. This of course was back in the early STP days, but given a chance...
ReplyDeleteI think he's hot too. Still. Always have.
ReplyDeleteWhat a depressing chain of stories here on CDAN today.
ReplyDelete^always will
ReplyDelete*sigh*
that was @shiny_special_one. You're quick Jasonblueeyes.
ReplyDeleteI've never been raped, but it came close. One guy started to strangle me before my brother came out of the house and he ran off. Then denied he ever did it. I was 14 or 15. I don't think I realized til I was about 30 that I was almost a very sad headline.
ReplyDeleteewww, unnecessary flashback! I was actually responding to Susan. I don't think most people have been raped, but a lot have been taken advantage of, or had bad experiences.
ReplyDeleteback to Scott. I always thought he was kind of hot too. I have no idea why, when I look at photos of him. But I still kind of do.
ReplyDeleteIn his green velevet pants (Big Bang Baby)dayum!
ReplyDeleteBack to Scott (again): around the time STP did "MTV Unplugged", he was hands down the sexiest man in music... Gawd, google "Sex Type Thing" and just look at that man. Hmm.... and that song is about rape, no??!!
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the group of people who have been molested AND raped. And I'm a guy...so...just imagine how that felt.
ReplyDeleteYeah.
I feel for him. I know what he's going through all too well. The mere thought of sex makes me want to kill.
@bflogurl --
ReplyDeleteThat song is TOTALLY about rape, and it's bothered me since I was in junior high. I owned that album and loved it, but "Sex Type Thing" is pretty transparent, as far as context is concerned. That's partly why I've never found this dude hot, and also why I'm currently VERY skeptical of this latest headline-baiting claim.
@ Ida: I TOTALLY get what your coming from... still doesn't change how I felt about him. He was gorgeous. Not, now so much.
ReplyDeleteNightmare Child, sorry to hear what you went thru. I hope you got help.

ReplyDelete@bits of moxy: YES!!
ReplyDeleteOh those green pants. I had so many fantasies about him and those green pants.
I loved the days when all we'd see of a rockstar was their music video so you would fixate on it. Now, everyone's on twitter updating when they pee.
I will read this book. After I finish Steven Tyler's. And after that, I'll probably want to party.
ReplyDelete@Sylvia - Help? o_O
ReplyDeleteWow. I think the whole tone of this post is ugly. It's hard enough to admit a molestation as a female, but as a male rock-star? Jesus.
ReplyDeleteWhoever wrote this (because, really who knows anymore?) sounds like a jade, unsympathetic asshole. Or perhaps someone who doesn't like the subject matter for one reason on another.
Like DivaJulia, I don't like the tone of this post. It's rude.
ReplyDeleteTheNightmareChild is a dude..wow, makes much more sense now. I shouldn't have assumed you were a girl, dear.
@DivaJulia: That's actually what I meant the other day when I remarked that the whole tone of this blog has become both, sexist and quite mean. If Enty wants to become a carbon-copy of Michael K he's on a good way, which is really sad because I always liked this blog for its classy snark. Those days seem to be over, however.
ReplyDeleteI had a dear friend who died after many years of struggle with heroin. He once told me his father had raped him. I don't think it's easy to get over that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say, though, recovered memories are dicey at best. I don't want to make it sound like I don't believe this story, because no victim should ever have to hear that. I just hope that he's getting the help that he needs.
ReplyDeletePS: one in every 6 American women (14.8%) has been the victim of rape or attempted rape, and 1 in every 33 men (3%): http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/sexual-assault-victims
ReplyDeleteConsidering that these crimes are underreported, and adding sexual assault to the mix, I'd buy that as many as 33% of Americans have been raped or sexually assaulted. "MOST" people have not been raped, thank God.
Was raped for real and managed somehow to put the guy away for nine years in a military prison. :( Was the worst experience of my life yet I feel a strange pride that at least I was the one to finally get the bastar*& off the base...turned out he had done it to at least five other women (that reported it) but managed to get off each time except once when he had to do two years in a mental hospital. Was a diagnosed psychotic but released because of his "good military service record" ... Hope you are all more careful than I was...there are lots of sick people out there. :(
