One Year Is All It Has Anyway
CBS must know the whole Ashton Kutcher thing is a big risk. They also must know that no one wants to watch him every week. I think they got suckered into this and are prepared to suffer through 26 episodes of really bad acting. But, the good news for CBS is apparently they only signed Ashton to a one year deal. I don't think it really matters to Ashton though. Even at the discounted rate per episode he is still going to pull in almost $20M for what amounts to less than 13 hours of television.
CBS was kind of stuck since they had already committed to next season. I guess they thought Ashton was their best move. I think they should have just brought in that monkey from the Hangover movie.
Well, at least Asston knows that he is expendable. He can try to act up, but if CBS/Lorre can dispense with Charlie Sheen's services, they can dispense with his.
ReplyDeleteSuch short, croppy write-ups today. Who's writing?
ReplyDeleteIt won't last more than a year. He also needed to replenish Demi's "I have never had any work done fund".
ReplyDeleteLet's see if he withstands working with Lorre, etc. better than Charlie and Brett Butler.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope there's room in that budget for a decent hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched this show, but had CBS gone with Hugh Grant, I'd have given the show a look. The "About A Boy" character was done so well. I imagine Hugh and Jon Cryer would have some pretty good chemistry. Too bad for both of them. Ashton isn't even watchable in those camera commercials.
ReplyDeleteAshton Kutcher must have pictures of Chuck Lorre blowing a donkey. That's the only thing that would explain this.
ReplyDeleteI've watched this show a couple of times now since the whole thing blew up and I don't think anyone would call what Charlie Sheen has been doing "acting". If people liked it before, they will probably be happy again.
ReplyDelete"About a Boy" is a GREAT movie. I second that recommendation. Toni Collette's in it too!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, clrcpa. Charlie sucked donkey balls. Watch Ashton inject new life in it.
ReplyDeleteI think that they should have just moved Ryan Stiles in and have had Judith go back to women and Charlie to have gone to a monastery.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter to CBS. From what I've read, Two and a Half Men is a MASSIVE cash cow and the network just keeps working that teat.
ReplyDeleteI think they did it to mess with Charlie. Why else would they hire someone as idiotic as Ashton?
ReplyDeleteSo, at some point is the lunatic going to be allowed back on the show or is he done for good?
ReplyDelete@Reese & @libby - I LOVE About a Boy too. I tried to find "Santa's Super Sleigh" for my Christmas playlist this year but was unsuccessful. :)
This will be interesting. I wonder if Ashton will be a new character on the show or just take over as Charlie Sheens character?
ReplyDelete@ardleigh EXCELLENT idea. Ryan Stiles has wonderful comic timng. Totally underutilized on the show.

ReplyDeleteIf they had written it so that Charlie ran off with Rose, leaving Ryan Styles and Berta in charge it would have been another 5 year run with all the new material. I think Ashton is going to breath some life into the shows last year though. Personally, Ashton wasnt on my list of actors to choose, but who am I, not a TV producer, not even a TV watcher so...
ReplyDeleteAshton Kutcher is like Brad Pitt lite, good looking, a beautiful woman, the best drugs, the best homes and toys and vacations and they're even allowed to have sex with pretty much anyone they want as long as it doesn't effect their home lives, but we aren't sure how they got all that without seeming to deserve it, and we've got our boring little lives here behind our computer screens.
I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed Kelso on That 70's Show. No, Ashton isn't a great actor, but he's good with comedy. I think he'll be just fine.
