No Apology From Blogger

Basically Blogger destroyed the posts from Wednesday and Thursday last week, and gave up on trying to restore any posts or comments from after a certain point on Thursday. When they tried to recover all the posts from Wednesday, the recovered them, but did not publish them again, and left them for me to find. In addition, they deleted the comments of everyone. Oh, and they did not even bother to apologize. Thanks Blogger.

  1. Yikes - that sucks. Sorry about that! Hopefully they are still working to fix the kinks. I was kind of wondering why there were no posts on a lot of the posts...

  2. Sucks about the comments I supposed, but I'm sure the posts are all cached.

  3. Welp, at least blogger is free. Imagine if you had to pay for it and they didn't give you an explaination?

  6. Heh, Sue Ellen, you beat me to it. Sorry Enty, but sometimes you get what you don't pay for.

I know so many people that were affected by it, and most were just glad that they got back their posts- and most would have preferred that it wasn't auto published so that they could edit to remind people that the posts had been eaten.

  8. Entry, I'm a full-time blogger now. Hear me out -- it's time to go self-hosted. You will have SO much more freedom. Talk to me; I can help you out.

  9. Must agree with the paying for it statements. Typepad is good and cheap .. Had good exeriences when I had a group pooical blog there a few years back. Now I am with InMotion .. Also very pleased with them. Time to ditch Blogger, EL. It has pretty much always been a big ol' POS, IMHO.

  11. I'd probably move to self hosting too...but it's your call. I'm not sure how often Blogger does this so I can't really say how crappy the service is.
