Joseph Brooks Kills Himself

Joseph Brooks, who used to be known for winning the Academy Award for You Light Up My Life, but is now known for the 82 charges of sexual assault he faced for luring women to his apartment, doping them and then allegedly raping them, has killed himself. Yesterday he was found with a plastic sack tied around his head which had a helium tank and a tube connected to it. The songwriter was arrested in 2009 but still had not faced trial. Meanwhile, his son, is awaiting trial for allegedly murdering his girlfriend after she broke up with him.

Scumbag saved the victims and the citizens of NY a whole lot of grief and money. Yippeee! His son is going to jail for a long time if he does not get the death penalty. Women were treated like trash and abused by both.

  6. I despised You Light Up My Life when it came out and it was so overplayed it seemed every radio station was playing it. But then I heard it a few years ago after a long absence and I really liked it. I guess the writer never had anyone who lit up his life enough, who knows why people do such awful things?

  7. It wasn't suicide -- it was a failed rapture -- I guess he didn't realize that only blow-up dolls filled with helium float up. Dumbass.

  8. I remember Debbie Boone stating that it was her love song to God and that He was her inspiration. I'll choose to remember the song like that, as I absolutely love that song and always will. (Yes, I know it was severely overplayed, which is regretable.)

I am glad this scum saved everyone, including all of his victims, from further agony. Good riddance. Now if his son could learn from the father...

Hey, thanks for saving the state a ton of money, perv! With any luck, your son will continue to follow in dear old dad's footsteps.

  14. The 1977 story in NY music circles was that the girl who sang the song in the movie, a local jingle/demo singer Kasey Cysyk (sp?) was negotiating in good faith with Brooks to release her performance on a single with an album deal. Pat Boone offered to have his daughter Debbie, who was 17-18 at the time, do the deal for cheap. Brooks dumped Kasey, grabbed Debbie and went for it.
