Jeff Conoway In Coma After Overdose

I feel like Kenickie left this world a long time ago. The only time I have really ever seen Jeff Conoway lately are in shows which seem to highlight how far he has fallen and the pitfalls of repeated drug use. When he shows up for events, it is usually with the aid of a cane and his sentences are never complete. Somehow though he always had at least two women by his side. He has said that he started using drugs after Grease. He never stopped. I also get the feeling that he had a lot of bitterness inside himself for not being cast as Danny. He had been Danny on Broadway, and I wonder if that would have changed his entire lot in life. Jeff is in a coma and not responsive after suffering a massive drug overdose. Hopefully he will pull through.

  1. I'm actually suprised this didn't happen sooner. The way his life has gone is rather sad. I hope he does well, but I don't think he will ever recover from his addiction. Just too far gone.

If God knows that his life will not get any better, I hope the Lord takes him.

  3. I don't think you become a drug addict because you don't get a role. I think you become a drug addict because you constantly feel a great deal of emotional pain and using drugs eases that pain temporarily.

  4. Sad. Addiction is really a terrible thing.

  5. I don't think you go on celebrity rehab to get sober. I just don't think that it's a healthy way to detox in a "big brother" environment. :(

I feel so sad about Jeff. He had his moments, but he seemed like a generally ok guy.

Julie, many people including a rocker friend of Mike Starr have rightfully bashed Dr. Drew. He jumped ship on that show and moved on to bigger things. Hee. I hope his HNN show fails. It is boring to me.

  7. For some reason his story is really sad to me despite it being cliched. I think it's that awful grifter he's married to-did they ever divorce? she's awful. that's only woman I've ever seen him photographed w/lately & she's been on rehab show--obviously drugged up as well & looking to keep him down. ugh.

  8. I adored him in the short-lived Wizards and Warriors. What a shame to know he was already battling addiction then!
His is truly a missed opportunity for greatness.
    :(

  9. I agree with looserdude. I think his demons run deeper then the loss of a role. Look at that photo, his eyes say it all. Poor guy, I hope he finds peace.

  10. That's too bad, but I guess I'm not shocked. Some people have it in a bad way for drugs and others can do it recreationally and never get hooked.

    I hope he lives...er...yeah.

  11. What a waste. I still love him and hope his suffering ends soon.

  12. He once said in an interview that he was sexually abused....that in itself can cause untold amount of emotional issues, and who knows what other things he endured as a child. I too, don't believe it's just because of a roll, he was a great Kenickie.
I think maybe his issues before Grease, may have caused him not to appreciate how this roll could have sent him soaring in film, but that it was his own struggles and the luck of the draw that came into play.
    I'm sad for him.

  13. Loved him as Kenickie (the far better role in my opinon) Was Grease before or after Taxi? I had such a crush on him!

  14. I loved him in TAXI and I have always felt a great sadness every time I have seen pictures of how he has fallen from those days.
However, he chose to do the drugs and it wasn't because he was abused or didn't get the role. He chose to do the drugs and in the great lottery of life he lost big time to his addiction.

Many people have horrible stories of abuse and rejection and they do not go the route he has. Many others became addicted but got off the cycle of use/abuse but he never has.
I'm sad for him today but I can't help but believe he got himself there by his own abuse of self.

  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again --

THIS is what parents need to show their kids when talking to them about drugs.

    Kenickie singing Greased Lightning.

And Jeff wailing on Celebrity Rehab.

  16. My beautiful 30 year old niece, the mother of 4 little boys, is a heroin addict, in jail right now, facing a long prison sentence. Raised by loving parents, a beautiful home, really popular at school, tremendously athletic and bright. She has wreaked her life and the life of all of those who love her. Why? We all have challenges and disappointments in our lives. Some of us rise above it and become stronger. Others recoil under the pressure and ultimately fail.

I feel very sad for this man and his family and loved ones. At one time he was someone's little boy, someone's brother, friend, heck even hero. He was successful, talented and good looking. Now, he is nothing but a wasted life, in a coma.

I don't know if we will ever have an answer as to why this happens to people-young, old, rich, poor, black, white, loved, unloved, pretty, ugly, even good people. It is just incredibly sad.

  17. Sad. He seemed like he wanted to get his life back together but he was too far gone I guess...I hope he makes it. Sadly, I think his body has had it at this point...

  19. As sad as I am, I'm not surprised. Maybe this will be a wake up call for him and maybe not. I hope whatever happens with him is the best outcome for him. Whether he makes it or not.

  20. I think he died inside a long time ago. May he go quietly and painlessly and hopefully find peace. He was in terrible shape before this and even if this didn't happen, probably never would have been able to recover from the damage already done.

  23. Poor guy. I, too, had a crush on Jeff when he was on Taxi .. Til Andy stole my heart. I will hope if he makes it there will be a miracle and he will at least return to his former ability. However, if that is not in the plan, I will hope he goes quickly and suffers very, very little. Just a very sad situation.

  26. Unfortunately, the human brain is designed to just really, really love heroin, because it's just like the stuff your body produces naturally when you need to fight off a mountain lion or cut your own arm off with a rusty pen knife to escape. Only better. The secret is to just not start.

Poor Jeff, I always thought he was amazingly hot and very talented. Hope he finds peace one way or another.
