Is 10 Days In Rehab Enough?

Jonathan Rhys Meyers spent ten days in rehab last month before departing because of work commitments. This is attempt number four at rehab for the big drinker. I think when you start getting close to using the second of your hands to count your rehab attempts that perhaps work should not be as big of a priority as your recovery. I just don't see how ten days is going to be enough. He should have gone for at least 30, and tried for 60. It is all well and good to work and make money but if you drink yourself to death then what is the point?

  1. I'd say that picture makes him look like he's homeless except the homeless guys around here dress better than that.

  2. not everyone sees rahab like that. some go back when they slip. it's a lifelong battle, you can't spend everyday of your life there, at some point you have to try and cope in the outside world. props to him for going in the first place. i feel for him,he seems very tortured since his mom died. hope it sticks and if it doesn't he'll be back.

  3. Loving all the posts today!
Man, what happened to Meyers' hot? It used to seep out of his pores, but lately...
I think at some point, celebs just go to rehab to appease their current employers, family, etc. They don't really have any intention to stop. Like this one.

  4. i love this guy, and have an even softer spot for him than i do lindsay lohan...love, looove him despite those uggs. he absolutely breaks my heart and i want nothing more than to see him complete a successful rehab and come back to being the fabulous actor that he is.

This. I don't even buy it when celebs seek "treatment" anymore. Maybe I'm jaded, but they always seem like calculated PR moves.

  6. well, i don't give him props, jax. he LEFT rehab--10 days isn't even a start and he knows that because he's been there before. maybe long enough to detox but that's not the point.

i don't buy the 'work' excuse. this guy doesn't get it after 4 trips. he'll get it when he's dead, or when someone else is dead because of him, i guess.

  7. He is a big drinker, but didn't the blinds used to have him pegged as an amphetamine junkie years back? The gaunt face, the huge vacant eyes, the erratic and schizoid behaviour -- lots of speedfreaks turn to alcohol to try to stop the insanity, but I doubt that alcohol is his drug of choice.

  8. nancer, rehab works for like 30% of people dedicated to it and the first step is walking in the damn door.

i give him props for that, you don't have to.

  9. Alcoholics/drug addicts WILL NOT STOP until THEY are READY.

When and if he is ready he will get clean. He can't do it for anyone else for himself or he is going to end up back exactly where he was before.

He's a racist prick anyway so fuck him.

I always hope someone can get clean and sober, but ten days after many, many trips is probably not enough. And he looks like hell.

  11. I agree Ida, we need a new word for it. Since we have PR romances, and quite possibly PR rehabs, let's call it 'showhab' from now on. Lindsay Lohan will be the poster child for this new word.

I am not heartless, I want to believe that any addict has a fighting chance to cure/manage their addictions, but as Lady J said, they have to be ready.

  12. Maybe he's ready and needed a good start. When I was ready I went through it all on my own and have over three years under my belt! The several trips to rehab/detox over the years never worked.

  13. I'm with Jax. It's hard to get and stay clean and sober. It takes many times to finally get it right and no matter how many times he tries, at least he's trying, and not denying.

  14. The headline sounds like a movie "10 Days in Rehab".

  15. Ten days in rehab in dog years = six months in human years, so in this case, yeah, maybe it works.

  16. 10 days of rehab is really only an extended detox, which is of course better than 10 days of drinking. Not everyone goes to rehab just the one time and gets the magic cure. Most times people do fall of the wagon and need more rehab time or in some cases jail time sadly. JRM may never ever stop drinking, but maybe he can learn to control it if nothing else.

  17. Typical detox is 10 days. It sounds like that is all he did.

  18. I agree with Lady J (and others) - screw this douche bag. So what if he drinks himself to death? He's an asshole, and there are much greater tragedies in the world than this. He's got the money and time to get himself clean and if he chooses not to do it, so be it.

  19. At least he's gone. He probably will again. The real douchebags never even admit they have a problem. He does seem like a very unhappy person. I wish him well.
