The Beaver Bombs
Summit may really be rethinking whether it wants to take a chance on releasing the Mel Gibson movie The Beaver nationwide. This weekend they through it up on some screens in a limited release and it did really badly. It made $104,000 on 22 screens which does not seem that bad. I mean that is more than that one Jessica Simpson movie made during its entire run, but less than $5000 a screen for something like The Beaver signals disaster for a wider run. No one wanted to go see Mel or his beaver. That almost sounded like porn. I have seen the previews and I don't think it is a bad idea for a movie, but I also can;t stand looking at Mel on the screen. Shoot it again with someone else and it might stand a chance. Other than that, it is probably a straight to DVD release at this point.l
