Sweet Potatoes?

If what Matthew Morrison says is true then I would have the most rocking body on the planet. So, I think what he says is wrong. Have you heard of losing weight and getting ripped abs by just eating sweet potatoes? I have to say that I eat a lot of sweet potatoes. Now granted, I eat mine with a bunch of butter and brown sugar, and yes, have been known to also put some marshmallows on top too. You know, those tiny ones that melt really good? Do you think this is why I don't have the ripped body? Was Matthew just eating these things plain? He also says that he only had to do it for a few days to look this good. Uh huh.

  1. I've read that if you restrict your diet to just any one food you'll eventually start to lose weight. And if you did only eat one food, probably sweet potatoes wouldn't be a bad choice nutritionally speaking. But obviously he is doing some serious working out, too.

  2. That's is funny you mentioned that because my trainer has me snack on sweet potato's whenever I get the munchies. They are an excellent source of fiber and are very fulling. Of course they are just baked with nothing on them but I find them tasty.

  3. I had a trainer years ago who made me eat a sweet potato every morning before my workout. I was actually in incredible shape back then...

  4. Sweet potatoes are very nutritious. Much healthier than just eating celery.

I do think he was doing some serious crunches while eating the potatoes.

  5. I'll have just a sweet potato (with a little butter and pepper, my bad) for lunch or dinner. It always fills me up and makes me happy.

  6. He says they "suck the fat out of you like a sponge"...this is totally stupid and untrue.

  13. Love for the sweet potato! I have a recipe for sweet potato and bean burrito that is SO good. Don't like them sweet, but with butter, salt and pepper? Bring it.

There's something very...disingenuous about Morrison. Can't put my finger on it.

  15. Sweet potatoes are high in fiber, which does not mesh with him looking constipated on that cover.

  23. In the past he's ID'ed himself as a dancer (vs. being an actor) -- that constant workout combined with a very healthy diet (sweet potatoes and kale and fish, oh my) would help set up those abs.

He was *awfully* nervous on Leno last night; probably got read the riot act about the bigoted rap.

  24. What is this bigotry that you are talking about?

  25. I say those abs are photo shopped on.

  26. I wish I could like sweet potatoes more but bleh. I don't even like sweet potato fries.

  27. I can't eat any food that is sweet. Honestly, it just makes me gag. That's why most Chinese food is out of the question for me...

  28. @RocketQueen - I almost bought a sweet potato burrito at lunch today! But I thought it might be a weird combo w/ the tortilla so I just got the black bean. I'll have to try that out!

Like all the other posters have said, sweet potatoes are quite nutritious if you have them outside a souffle or a pie. :) I do believe they are a superfood.

  29. I didn't see the sweet potato thing in that link but I did see that he cycles 100 mi, runs 25 mi and also does weight training every week. And eats healthy. That's why his abs look like that. :)
