Reese Witherspoon Cries Because She Has No Privacy

Reese Witherspoon is on the cover of Vogue this month. Yes, Victoria Beckham, it was another month you were denied. Anyway, in the accompanying interview Reese says she sometimes sits in her car and cries because she has no privacy. This of course is the same woman who just sold the photos from her wedding to tabloids. Reese does admit that she would not change her situation even if she could because the lack of privacy has made her life better tenfold. Uh huh. That $20M paycheck per movie does not hurt either. At least Reese admits she would not trade her privacy for being a nobody. That is the kind of situation that irks me. She covered nicely. She is not that stalked and will probably continue to be less photographed now that she is married. Much more interesting to play the who am I dating now game for tabloids then the here is Reese married for the umpteenth time. It is why I predict Jennifer Aniston will never get married again.

  4. I don't understand why we can't allow stars to complain. I mean I would think it really DOES suck to not have privacy. I don't know I think she is just being honest and I am sure the good outweighs the bad. But they are human and I guess I just think I would rather have them be honest than to say I just Love being followed at all times!

  5. Please when you choose to be famous...it comes with the territory...
As for being a nobody...well I don't have a problem with it at all...

  6. Speaking of Aniston, it's been kind of quiet on that front lately.

  7. Isn't the goal to become famous so that people recognize you everywhere you go? You don't get to pick and choose.

  8. In other news, Reese's wallet is too small for her $50s and her diamond shoes are too tight.

That pic looks almost like a painting....photoshop?

  9. She does have two kids; I imagine there are times when it's hard.

  10. if she really wanted privacy, she would move to the midwest, not live in LOS ANGELES.
she can always quit her job too.

  11. @delilah - she works in Los Angeles. Why would you demand that she live elsewhere if she wants privacy? Would you live in another city from where you work?

That said, lack of privacy is part of the downside of being famous. Deal with it, don't complain about it, because none of us who make everyday person money want to hear the whining.

I think a celebrity *can* protect their privacy - not perfectly, but some manage it better than others.

    Who is Alison Sweeney?

  17. I totally agree with Delilah.

  18. It's kind of hard to complain about privacy when you're doing an interview with the press.

I like her well enough. I think she has kids so she has a right to be concerned and her & Ryan do a good job of protecting them. It's just a really bad sound bite.

  19. @Sylvia - Alison Sweeney is Sammy on Days of Our Lives and she is also the host of the weight loss show on NBC... And she totally looks like that picture of Reece...

  20. Reese is pretty open about her life and feelings. At least give her that. I like her.

  21. As Victor Mature said: "If you're so worried about your fucking privacy, don't become a fucking actor!"

  22. I've watched Ali Sweeney for years now and I sure don't see any resemblance in the picture of Reese. The eye of the beholder I guess.

  30. I generally agree with the sentiments about being a star = loss of privacy. Especially when the stars work WITH the paps to get coverage! Uggh.

Miss Laura Jean Witherspoon here has been in the spotlight since leaving Memphis and making a splash in Man In The Moon (a great film btw). But there IS a fine line here.

Sure, you get XXmillions for a film and surrender your privacy. Fair enough. But most of these paps are worse than stalkers, perverts, and creeps you probably read about daily. These are not just honest working folks trying to earn a living. I could post 50 photos and reams of nightmare stories about how disgusting, illegal, and outright scary some paps are and the damage they can do to a star. Especially when the star just wants to work, do promo for a film or show, collect their pay, and lead a quiet life.

I'm not crying for Laura Jean - and neither are you. But when an illegal immigrant with a criminal record who is jacked on Meth to stay awake all night decides to intercept her kid (Ava) on her way into dance class and snap pix of her, get in her face, block her way - until she's crying and the security guy has to have him arrested? That's a bit too much.

Worse yet? Some of the paps will TRY to get your bodyguard (or you) to push you or hit you or run you over so they can get PAID for it! And the cops? They have real crimes to solve so they care less. But it never lessens the threat. Anyone remember sweet Rebecca Schaffer? My Sister Sam?

I also know of a time when Billy Petersen (CSI's Grissom) discovered that paps had actually gotten a copy of his damn GROCERY STORE shopper card info - a rewards card! Seriosuly! Why? They were scanning his purchases to try and get info on his lifestyle, buying habits, etc. The cops busted the paps, and found out they were illegal Russians in this country and had warrants all over Europe for them in ID theft scams. THAT is how damn creepy many of them are! (Thanks TMZ and Radar for supporting those criminals!).

YES - stars get paid to surrender their lives, but their HAS to be a limit.
YES - most rising or low-level stars (tabloid and reality ones) crave paps and call them to stage photos to be famous.
YES - Many paps are legit reporters and honest working people.
BUT...no human should be afraid to walk out of their house or scared for their child going (with escort) to school or practice. SO there's two sides to this whole story.

Which is why - believe it or not - some like to stay anonymous!

  31. And I'm crying over my lack of money...life's a bitch.

  32. Im getting on the Delilah train here.

  33. Reese, I'll trade you my privacy for your money, sugaroo.

  34. Did anyone catch last week's radio show? Oops, forgot there wasn't one. I'm sure all the donations will be returned to the readers. That would be the right thing to do.

  35. Read the article before you slam her. She makes it abundantly clear that she knows she's got a great life. That said, it really would suck to not be able to go anywhere without getting jumped by paps, no matter how well your job pays.

  36. Has anyone heard anything about the radio show? I hope nothing bad happened, especially to the people who donated all that money for it!
