Katie Couric Leaving CBS News
After five years of being in third place in the ratings, Katie Couric is leaving the anchor chair at CBS News. Apparently she is going to try the syndicated host route instead of the evening news. I remember when she got the job it was a very big deal. People loved watching her at first when she came over from Today, but that honeymoon did not last very long. It has been a struggle for her to find an audience and despite trying gimmicks and other stuff, nothing ever seemed to work. I personally think it is because Today is much more lighthearted than an evening news program which seems to deal with death and destruction for every broadcast and the combination just did not work. I agree with Letterman though who said that once you get in that chair you need to ride it on to the sunset. It is the ultimate news job that every fledgling reporter wants when they start out their careers doing pet fashion shows in San Diego, which I think translates into whale vagina. Stay classy Katie.
