Hoover Wants Their ABC Soaps

Apparently soap opera advertising works for at least one customer. Hoover is seriously ticked off at ABC for pulling the plug on One Life To Live and All My Children. As a result, they pulled off all their ads from ABC and is starting a campaign to get the soaps back on the air. I don't think it will do any good. The only way those shows are coming back is if several advertisers pull their ads from the network. Hoover probably spends a lot on ads on the network, but probably not enough to cover the budgets of the shows so ABC will count on them coming back at some point. Now, if this was Budweiser or McDonald's or someone like that, Susan Lucci would be back in makeup before she could say, "Oh, this isn't my friend; this is my ex-husband."

I bet Susan is a real piece of work in the real world. I also bet she won't be unemployed long.

  3. I'm kind of grossed out at seeing side hip on an old lady.

  4. There was a blind on BG the other day suggesting she's already been offered a role on Desperate Housewives.

  5. @Danielle ... she's rumored to be going on Desparate Housewives and I bet that's her opening line!

I saw that, she would be fantastic...they need a professional DIVA.

  7. I don't watch OLTL or AMC, but I do watch GH, and I'm just waiting for the ball to drop on that one.

I have to say I'm intrigued by the two shows they want to replace the soaps with. I mean, you can't go wrong with Tim Gunn in my world.

Susan Lucci is fierce. I love her.

  8. I'm really surprised that SoapNet (the cable channel) isn't pickng up these shows. Surely the production cost isn't that high, and a niche cable channel should be able to make a business of it, no?

  9. @Valerie ABC pulled the plug on SoapNet too - its going away in 2012 to be replaced by some children's channel

  10. While I usually hate the junior fashions Erica Kane prances around Pine Valley in, I kind of like this dress.

Susan Lucci is only ONE actress (and not a very good one), there will be lots of people out of jobs. Susan probably makes bank off her skin line (because you know she's never had plastic cough* surgery) and Malibu pilates.

This woman is an embarrassment with all of her uncouth antics. I hope she never gets back on tv. Karma.

  13. @natasha: How can you be sure that those uncouth antics weren't performed by SUSAN LUCCI'S EVIL TWIN?

    DUN-DUN-DUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

  14. I thought Susan Lucci was supposed to be really nice IRL. Like a total opposite of Erica Kane. Was that just a spin?

  15. Susan Lucci is tiny in real life, from what I understand. I have read fan reports from soap events that Susan is kind of 'cautious' with fans, and I honestly think that her size has something to do with it. She is gracious, but not warm, if that makes any sense. She is the last person on those two shows that I'm worried about, she has plenty of money and never needs to work another day in her life.

I'd forgotten about Jeremy Hunter, I think he was my favorite of all of her ex husbands. Miss him, would love to see him return before the finale.

  17. I think SL is 5'1 or 5'2 and probably a 0 or 2 in real life.

I was so glad to see what Hoover did. It was a nice little fuck you ABC. I just hope GH will stick around.
