Blake Shelton Makes Gay Jake Gyllenhaal Joke - Kind Of

I only caught a few minutes of the Academy Of Country Music Awards but it seemed that Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire did a pretty good job. Of course since the last show I watched was Anne Hathaway and James Franco at the Oscars, it did not take much to improve on that. During the opening bit, Reba and Blake were bantering about Taylor Swift and how if you break up with her you will get a song written about you. Blake then went on to praise Taylor and wondered why anyone would break up with her. Then he said, "Wait a minute, Jake was in Brokeback Mountain." It got a laugh out of the crowd but I am wondering if Jake thought it was funny.

  4. Crude and tasteless, totally inappropriate, devoid of basic human decency. Where is the love?!?!?!

  5. That seems more like a homophobic comment regarding Brokeback Mountain to me. Not funny.

  6. I think Taylor is 5'11"

  7. yeah I don't find it that funny, regardless of rumors about Jake. It's just tacky to make a joke like that on national television.

  8. I didn't mind it, but didn't find it all that funny either. Most of their humor fell flat.

Don't think too many people would care for that joke.

  11. I think is Jake is fair game for only one reason, because he is lying to the public by pretending to be herero. If he were out and proud then I think he should be off limits.

  12. Looserdude - one would hope. But truthfully, I doubt it.

  13. What would yoyu expect from a conservative crowd?

  14. Heath Ledger was in that movie too. "Hey let's make fun of dead actors by calling them queer."

No wonder I hate country music.

  15. If Jake were "out and proud", then the comment wouldn't have ever happened, no? Are comments like Blake Shelton's supposed to make Jake say "Oh, I should come out so people don't joke about me anymore?"

  16. @Nate F - you're so right. That comment never would have gone down at the Grammy's or the Oscars. I'll add that to the massive list of reasons why I hate country music.

  17. @looserdude: Jake isn't gay.

  18. @Missy: Jake is all kinds of gay. Heinz 57 varieties of gay. Gay, gay and gay. Sorry.

  20. I think Jake may be bi, but he definitely ain't straight!

  21. Taylor's over 6 feet. (Often women stars will stop at 5'11, just like no male star is shorter than 5'9 uh huh).

  22. Why would any straight make dump Taylor Swift, she could have a penis and I'd let her sodomize me. The rest of her is still drop dead hot so it cant be THAT Gay.

  23. you should have watched the juno's, enty. drake was a great host!

  24. That kind of joke really wasn't funny WHEN the movie came out let alone now.

I'm sure some people in the audience have the mentality that if you play a gay character you MUST be gay.

  25. What a bunch of hypocrites. You lot are the same people who spends hours gossiping about Toothy tile and beards and the fake Taylor and Jake relationship and yet here you all are ragging on Country music in its entirety for making a decent joke out of a public situation. Blake is renowned for making "hillbilly" comments about women, and had it been directed at someone who you all believe to be straight you probably would have laughed along (unless you take yourselves WAY too seriously) but no because some of you all live in la la land and want to protect some guy u fancy in a movie suddenly making jokes is not allowed to be funny.

    Its not a homophobic joke.
If it needs explaining here u go.
Blake is suggesting Taylor is beautiful and any man who leaves her must be crazy or gay. Its not a slur at Jake its a back handed compliment to his friend without being overly pervy or bullish.

Get over it because tomorrow you will all be back at the guessing whos gay game you all love so much..
