Ab Fab Returns!!
For three glorious episodes this summer, Patsy and Edna will return to television. It has been a very very long six years since Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders have portrayed their beloved characters in Absolutely Fabulous and I can safely say they have been missed. Just three episodes though? That is hardly enough to really get into it, but I am not going to complain. Anything with these two is better than nothing. Is it summer yet? How about now?
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeleteSweetie DAHLING!!!!
ReplyDeleteOH HELL YEAH! I'm starting to plan that party *NOW* -
ReplyDeleteBut please, almighty Gods of Television (and you too, Jennifer Saunders) - 3 episodes is a teaser - can we have at least 6 for a decent story arc?
Since Hollywood loves ripping off British TV shows so much, why hasn't there been an American version? It would be a lot of fun to cast.
ReplyDeleteThe american version failed miserably. It would have to be on HBO/Showtime to succeed.
ReplyDelete@looserdude
ReplyDeleteThey did try a couple different ways to have an American version....
but the producers misunderstood what was needed to keep it from being just another show about drunks.
@ Terri and Ap - oops - didn't know that, but I guess it figures. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePatsy Stone is my hero.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Eddie's crazy mother and Saffy will make an appearance?
I remember a couple of specials or maybe one special a while back, (I think they came to New York) and it wasn't as great as the original episodes, but better than nothing.
LOVE IT!!! Soooo Happy!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! I cannot wait!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut is Saffron coming back? Because the interactions between her and Patsy really made the show for me...
ReplyDeleteI'd say this is the best news I've heard in a while, but my cable company in OK doesn't carry BBC :(.
ReplyDeleteHurrah sweeties!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut will we hear drunken tales of Patsy and Edina's youth? Or how Saffy was passed around and breast fed throughout the commune? Will their be a sordid reference to the Stones?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so, if not, please don't bother!
BTW, American TV made it completely Politically correct and it was a joke.
There have been a couple of attempts, but by far the most successful of them was "Cybil" -
ReplyDeletetoned down and Americanized of course, which did run for a couple of years.
There was another attempt, using Amy Smart of Designing Women in the Patsy role, however thankfully that didn't last more than a season.
Slightly off topic: My biggest fear re Americanization of British shows will be realized in July, when STARZ starts showing "Torchwood" - although with Barrowman reprising Captain Jack and Davies at the creative helm, I'm not as scared as I could be.
But they better leave my Doctor ALONE!
Dahlings, I'm popping in my tapes right now to review! I'll chill the bubbly!!
ReplyDeleteYAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteI think I can safely say that no one on this site has a problem with this.
ReplyDeleteI'm giddy like a schoolgirl right now.
I"m not sure how I feel about this: I look so much like Edina (minus the ciggie) in that photo.
ReplyDeleteI really hope that Bubble and Magda are back too. Plus I can't wait to see Eddie tottering around in the new insane platform shoes.
ReplyDeleteJust for that, I am going to have a problem with it. A show about women smoking and drinking and having fun?
ReplyDeleteWont someone think of THE CHILDREN?
Remember Jennifer's health scare a while back? I thank the heavens that she not only made it through, but that she's able to put together this project again. These ladies kick ass.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a friend who would dismissively say, "Nobody's doing ecstasy anymore," and we would all laugh. One of my favourite lines from this show.
ReplyDeleteHey Enty, did you fall asleep out there?
ReplyDeleteGood news! I read that Saffy and Bubbles will both be included in the new episodes. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteOh this news just made my day! Woo hoo! But I agree - only 3 episodes is just a tease.
ReplyDeleteYes yes one thousand times YES!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Eddie still loves to say Christian Lacroix?
ReplyDeleteWas "Serg" the name of her favorite (but unseen) child?
@Terri - Really? So...how YOU doin'?
ReplyDeleteon the fence about this one. i hope the writing is good.
ReplyDeleteI checked to make sure that June Whitfield, who plays Gran, is still alove and working. Yes, she is!!! I love Gran!
ReplyDeleteLacroix, dahling! Lacroix!
ReplyDeletemy favorite line ever? when patsy's mom gives birth to her and says, " take it away! and bring me anotha lovah!"
Dear God do I love these women! Can't wait for the special edition DVD to come out so I can add to my Ab Fab collection.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers have been answered!!!
ReplyDeleteVery happy about their return, however, nothing will ever top the France episode for me.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite was The Box. I like just a few specials here and there, I found some of the episodes were trying too hard after a while.
ReplyDeleteCorrection:
ReplyDeleteThe actress I was thinking of was not Amy Smart, it was Jean Smart - reprising the Pats role for the Americanized "Ab Fab"
We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog.
Agree with Barton Fink - good after everything Jennifer's been through that she wants to do some more episodes of Ab Fab.
ReplyDeleteWe will be lucky to get those three....
ReplyDeletePatsy is thinking of entering politics, supporting Gurkhas, but Eddie has had breast cancer, hopefully it is completely gone and she is getting sunshine in her life as she is a great comedienne.
YAY!!!
ReplyDeletePatsy Stone. I HOPE YOU'RE WEARING THICK PANTS!
ReplyDeleteEdina Monsoon. STAND ON THE BLOODY BIN BAG!!!!
Best episode ever.
They could make quite the scene at the Royal Wedding!!!
