World's Hairiest Girl Loves The Attention

There is a girl in Thailand who is one of only 50 people in the world who suffers from Ambras Syndrome. It basically covers you in hair and nothing can be done to make it go away. The 11 year old girl used to be teased all the time because of her condition, but now because she is in the Guinness Book Of World Records, she has become one of the most popular kids in school. I feel so bad for her and what she must go through on a daily basis. The teasing and stares must be terrible so it is so heart warming that the book did what they did and that now she is getting known for who she is rather than what she looks like. I also think the producers of Twilight should cast her in the next movie. It would give her even more positive attention and would probably help her out a great deal financially going forward.

  1. Cast her in the next movie, as what? A werewolf? Yeah, that's helpful.

  2. WOW! That is unbelievable. I can't even begin to imagine what one day must be like for her, let alone living like this your entire life. My heart goes out to her.

  3. Why doesn't she shave off the hair?

  5. What a brave little girl, I want to give her a big hug.

  6. Nosey, I would think that trying to shave it would cause very uncomfortable stubble. It may be easier for her to just leave it as it is, even with the staring and taunting she probably has to endure because of it.

I wonder if, given that she was able to raise funds for it, lasering the hair off would be an option.

  7. I'm glad the little girl is happier now, but unfortunately the fact that she is in the Guiness Book of World Records now is only due to her looks and NOT who she is.

  8. Electrolysis?!?!?!!? Owwwwwwwwwww!

  9. I read this article somewhere else and it explains how they tried to laser off the hair but it grew back. Apparently there's a defect in her DNA which causes the hair to grow in places it normally doesn't.

    She is a brave girl.

  10. Enty, I love you, but that comment about a role in Twilight was both lame and mean as hell.

I'll make fun of a fortysomething megalomaniacal crackhead and a twentysomething klepto cokefiend all day long, but I draw the line at an eleven year-old with a really unfortunate physical condition.

  11. She is brave. Just goes to show that our early ancestors were probably hairy people as well.

  12. what amoteafloat said.

  13. @ amoteafloat - I could not have said it better. I hope that maybe she could get Laser Hair removal and live a normal life. She breaks my heart because we all know how mean Junior High and High School kids can be.

  14. Yeah, Ent. That was just wrong. She can't help what's happening to her.

  15. Wasn't the tree man from Thailand too?

  16. holy shit. I can not believe those last two sentences. what. the. fuck? you should be ashamed.

  17. I don't think ENTY meant the Twilight comment in a mean way. I think he meant that she should be in the movie because of this and make money, which she could use, because of it. Why is that wrong? They hired dwarfs for the Wizard of oz or a Down Syndrome actor for "Life Goes On". People get hired because of their appearance.

I don't think that ENTY meant this maliciously at all.

  18. Yeah, what G said. I don't think it was meant to be a mean spirited comment (although I agree that it was a tad insensitive).

  19. LOL. Seriously? Well.... um.... dumbfounded... I guess that's one way to look at it? Damn.

I don't think he meant it the wrong way, either. Damn, most of ya'll have been reading this blog long enough to know he's not mean.

  23. It's not just you, Dodger. I thought the same thing.

  24. @ Roger Dodger & Mooshki: I thought the same thing, too, but felt maybe I should keep it to myself. Maybe she's doing what she can to be cool...?

  25. Based on the 2 sentences prior to the last 2 sentences, I don't think Enty was being malicious.

She sounds like she is pretty well adjusted & happy but it sounds like her community/classmates are pretty accepting of her, thank goodness. I can't really see that happening if she was in the US. :-/

  26. I think Enty was simply saying that, as a little girl, she might very well love being cast in a Twilight film. She seems incredibly well adjusted, and it's heartwarming to know that she's not having to endure cruelty from her classmates.
