Sick

Sorry for the abruptness of not finishing the blog yesterday. I have come down with some awful bug and am barely functional at this point. I am hopeful that everything will be back to normal tomorrow. I miss all of you. Come bring me soup please. Potato bacon would be nice.

  12. If I were you, I would drill a small hole in the kitchen wall and your basement, run a hose through it and just have your mum pour soup straight into your room.

    My childhood dream, right there.

  19. If you have a fever over 100, bodyaches, cough, etc... Go get swabbed for the flu because Tamiflu is awesome and decreases length and severity of the flu. If you have the icky stomach bug going around, meds for nausea would help. You only have 48 hours to start Tamiflu....GO!

  20. Yes, CaliGirlinVA I agree!

Also stay hydrated, protect your kidneys!

    Get well soon Enty!

  21. And for the bad news, the bug we've had going round and round the office lasts a LONG time. I'm on day 9 and still don't feel 100%. Same for the co-workers. The coughing, sneezing, aching, and red noses are real ugly.

Enty, the good news is it's good for dropping a few pounds. Well, that is if you stay away from potato bacon soup.

  29. Good idea, Emobacca! I just read this article about Jodie Foster on defending Mel Gibson and working (currently) for Polanski. She's making it difficult for me to keep loving her:

  38. Feel better, Enty. Take care, all of you!

A twist on Astrid's suggestion... I've been drinking hot water with an ounce of lemon juice and honey every day this winter and have avoided all sickness (I usually get slammed hard every winter). It really is a magic tonic.

  39. Is it wrong that my Immediate thought when I first saw the SICK title was "what has Charlie Sheen done now"? Just wondering.....

    ReplyDelete
  40. what is a "Troll comment"??

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jennifer, there were a few trolls yesterday-people with inappropriate comments. Enty usually deletes the people that are really offensive-by the end of the day.

Oh you poor thing... I had the same crud a few weeks ago and lost a week of work. It felt like the plague. At first the Dr. thought it was viral but then (after I went back a second time) agreed that is was a sinus infection on top of the virus so I finally got some prescription antibiotics. The best advice I can give is to drink lots of Emergen-C and take lots of Zinc and olive leaf. Zinc kills virus and olive leaf is a natural antibiotic. Plus lots of rest. If that doesn't help, get thee to a doctor. Take care, friend.

  48. Sunnyside, it sure does sound like classic Ashley Judd.

Here are some blinds from the New York Post. As usual, the answer is "ALL OF THEM!"

#1: Which actor recently linked to a series of starlets has been secretly sleeping with a man?

#2: Which lusty director has been ordering hookers to the set of his latest movie?

#3: Which former squeaky-clean child actor was recently spotted buying drUgs openly on the street in the West Village?

  49. This one from Blind Gossip is more interesting than the usual fare:

This actress makes plenty of money and is always well turned out, so you may be surprised to hear that she has sticky fingers. Or, in her case, sticky toes. She has a particular method that she uses to literally walk off with expensive shoes.

When she goes shoe shopping, she wears a super long dress or long pants. She has the shoe salesperson bring her multiple boxes of Jimmy Choos, Louboutins, and Blahniks, and makes them run back and forth multiple times during her visit. At some point, the old pair get wrapped up in tissue paper and placed into one of the boxes, and the new pair go on her feet.

She makes sure she is standing when the clerk returns, purchases maybe one pair of the dozens she tried on, and walks out of the store with one pair in a bag and one pair on her feet. So it’s always a half-price sale for this sneaky girl and her size 7 1/2 feet.

  50. And here's the Lainey blind again for those who didn't see it before:

She’s long had a reputation for being absolute hell to work with. I mean like straight up crazy. Leaves her sh*t, sometimes literally, everywhere, specifies exact times when people can or cannot talk to her, is foaming at the mouth insane one minute, calm and collected the next. Lately her opportunities have dried up. And this is a good example of why. Press junket. A handler has to make sure she wakes up in the morning. Because she’s not a proper adult? She finds her completely out of it. Has to put her in the shower and hold her up. Picture that please. A grown woman having to be physically supported in the shower to make sure she can go and do her job. She then had to be spoon fed her breakfast. And she had to be dressed. Like, let’s put on your socks! Finally they get her to the point where she can be seen in public. A journalist is soon expected for an interview. Through it all she’s still a fucking zombie. Soon as the reporter comes into the room though, a switch goes off. She’s alive. She’s engaging. She can speak in proper sentences. And you can imagine, for the people who’ve experienced this, who’ve had to work with her, who have to manage the unpredictability of this, how scary it must be, how utterly unsettling, even more unsettling than most of her peers. And in her business, that’s a pretty high standard.

  51. Spend some restful time on the futon, Enty; hope you are feeling a lot better very soon. Miss you, and you have my sympathy with whatever ails you.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh no, she didn't!!! Sarah Palin just dissed Julianne Moore and Tina Fey! Talking about the new movie about her that Julianne is starring in:

"I am all about job creation and I guess I could provide some of these gals who pretend they're me some job security."

    As if!

    ReplyDelete
  53. More gossip: Amanda Bynes went after Miley's sloppy seconds: she's hooking up with Liam Hemsworth.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hahahaha!! It's funny that people who are more beloved and make more money than Sarah Palin even have to listen to that woman's opinion about "job security".

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hope you get better Enty.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Poor Enty. Sue Ellen and I will be right over with some bacony soup and lots of cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Aww, feel better soon, Enty.

    ReplyDelete
  58. So, I'm the one Sarah Palin fan in the bunch, I reckon.

For the blind on sticky feet -- I'm thinking SJP. She wears long wide pants alot.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey, remember how we thought Suri was too young to be the one from the blind yelling the f-bomb at her mother? Well, apparently she's old enough for gummy penises.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I LOVE Suri!! I love her partly because she's better dressed than her mother, and also because she's probably already a better thespian than her father.

I want her to grow up to be a godawful Hollywood terror -- but without the accompanying drugs, rehab stints, and charges of grand felony theft, of course.

Oh, and Enty, get well soon!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well, you know that there's that theory that she was specifically bred by the Sci Church to take over Hollyweird when she grows up.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ...and gummy peninses are an important part of that.

    ReplyDelete
  63. There's a removing of dentures for a blowjob joke here, but I just can't figure it out.

  64. Poor Enty...if you've got a cold/upper respiratory thing happening, go w/hot & sour soup, or else chicken broth simmered w/garlic & ginger plus a slug of hot sesame oil (ramen noodles minus the packet of ick that comes w/them are good in this). If it's gastrointestinal, stick w/clear liquids (chicken broth, ginger ale, popsicles, jello, some sorbets). Potato bacon, although lovely, would probably be better for when you're actually on the mend. Hot tea w/lemon & honey is good no matter what, so have some of that, too--just be sure & keep those fluids going, so you don't get dehydrated. (And yes, if you were in Boston or I in LA, I'd be sure & bring you some soup.) Take care of yourself, and feel better soon, OK?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous4:20 PM

Another twist on that hot lemonade...my grandma always made it for me back in the 1940s and 1950s, and she put a good size glug of Four Roses in it. I don't know if it cured anything, but after 3 or 4 you didn't care.

  67. Poor Enty. Too bad there is nothing good on daytime TV. Take care.

  68. LOL @ Middle-aged Diva! Feel better Enty :)

  69. Look people, get him PO-TA-TO NOT T0-MA-TOE Soup. Stop trying to rip our Enty off. Add extra crispy bacon and cheese too, with a side loaf of Cheese Bread.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mmmmm, potato bacon soup is my favourite too :)

Sorry you are feeling poorly, it's no fun.

My Witches Brew for getting over the flu or a cold is chicken broth with lots of garlic and ginger, onions or shallots and then your favourite vegetable, I usually go with parsnips. Cook this up until the vegetables are tender and then throw in some dried Goji berries about 15 minutes at the end. Sometimes I add noodles or rice but often I just take it "neat", makes a huge difference. Of course it's better when someone else cooks this up for you when you're not feeling well.

  76. Poor Enty, I'm so sorry you're sick. We us Zicam as soon as we start getting sick and it really works well. If not, well, Grandma used to give me hot water, fresh squeezed lemons, sugar, and a hefty tot of whiskey...it may not cure you but you sure feel fine pretty quick!

#3: Which former squeaky-clean child actor was recently spotted buying drUgs openly on the street in the West Village?

I actually have a guess for this one. Daniel Radcliffe is on Broadway again. It would break my heart, but that's my guess: Dan Rad.

  77. Feel better, Enty. My family's been hit with bug after bug after bug. They're thankfully mild, but no fun when the kids keep bringin' 'em home from school.

  79. Thanks for the fun and juicy blinds Mooshki! Get well soon enty, my day was not the same without you :(

  80. Enty -- I saw a drink the other day that immediately made me think of you. The bar's version of a Bloody Mary uses, instead of a celery stalk as a stirrer, three strips of crisply cooked bacon.

You could get some Vit. C from the tomato juice; the bacon would make you happy; and the vodka could ease you off into LaLa land. Hope you feel better soon whatever remedy you choose!

  81. Hope that you are feeling much better. There is some nasty stuff getting passed around right now.
