In probably the least surprising news of the day, BBC announced they are going to air the wedding of William & Kate live. No s**t. Who would have thunk it? This is about a surprising as Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene calling it quits or me saying yes to a free all you can eat buffet. Was there any doubt they would not air the wedding live? Diana and Charles was aired live and that was when people still willingly bought black and white television sets because they were only like $40. Even if BBC did not air it, there would have been a half dozen guests who would have had their cell phones up and recording the event and Twittering so you might as well go ahead and broadcast it live.
More people around the world will watch this than watched the Super Bowl this year. Broadcast networks would be idiots not to broadcast it. Plus, they deliberately are getting married during US primetime so you know commercials will cost a fortune. Think about how long a Super Bowl pregame is. Now imagine this stretching out a week. Every morning show, news program and reality show will be there for a week. Live reports from Jwowww every 20 minutes.
I will be watching....watched Diana's and Charles' wedding and am looking forward to this. Won't watch the lead up crap but the wedding....I'm in

ReplyDeletethey're getting married at 11 am, I think? that's not prime time in the US. Plus, it's a pretty normal time to get married.

ReplyDeletethere is a BI or story from back in the day at cdan where this blogger had to go get an actor from (poland?) and bring him back to (cannes?). if my memory is correct? so i would say he's been to somewhere in europe and understands the notion of time zones.

ReplyDeleteI remember watching Charles and Diana's wedding back in the day. It was on a Wednesday and I was on summer vacation, the summer between 8th and 9th grade.
Okay seriously, what is up with posting a second entry claiming this wedding will be in US prime time. Enty and his help don't read the comments?
ReplyDeleteActually, the following Monday is a "bank holiday" in England, so they scheduled the wedding so that everyone could have a four-day weekend. Pretty cool, in my opinion.

6:00 am is definitely not prime time for me....I will confess that I'll Tivo the event and watch it during my real prime time. I watched his mom get married, I have this odd feeling I should watch him get married. I'm kind of like his long lost auntie.

I know people love all things royal but it's so boring to me. Kate has grown into her looks and I find her much prettier than when she first started dating the Prince. I would say the opposite is true for William.

Primetime on the East Coast of the United States would be midnight - 3am London time. Somehow I doubt they wedding is going to be at midnight.
