Shocker!!! Royal Wedding To Air Live

In probably the least surprising news of the day, BBC announced they are going to air the wedding of William & Kate live. No s**t. Who would have thunk it? This is about a surprising as Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene calling it quits or me saying yes to a free all you can eat buffet. Was there any doubt they would not air the wedding live? Diana and Charles was aired live and that was when people still willingly bought black and white television sets because they were only like $40. Even if BBC did not air it, there would have been a half dozen guests who would have had their cell phones up and recording the event and Twittering so you might as well go ahead and broadcast it live.

More people around the world will watch this than watched the Super Bowl this year. Broadcast networks would be idiots not to broadcast it. Plus, they deliberately are getting married during US primetime so you know commercials will cost a fortune. Think about how long a Super Bowl pregame is. Now imagine this stretching out a week. Every morning show, news program and reality show will be there for a week. Live reports from Jwowww every 20 minutes.

  2. Again with the reference to it being in primetime in the US, Enty? We covered that last time you said it - it's not true.

  3. they're getting married at 11 am, I think? that's not prime time in the US. Plus, it's a pretty normal time to get married.
They're doing it on a Friday so the regular people can have a three day weekend. I thought that was kind of nice.

  4. From TheWeek.com -

Americans wanting to tune in will "have to get up early," says Gabriel O'Rorke at ABC News. "The service will begin at 6 am ET."

  5. I probably won't watch, but I do remember watching Fergie and Andrews wedding back in the day, with my grandma. Good times.

  6. I guess I can watch it for a few minutes while I'm getting ready for work. But 6 am Eastern Time is most definitely not prime time.

  7. I guess Enty's never been to Europe. LA is 8 hours behind the UK, so the ceremony will be 3.00 am your time.

Why would a British couple marry in US prime time? The BBC doesn't show any ads anyway.

there is a BI or story from back in the day at cdan where this blogger had to go get an actor from (poland?) and bring him back to (cannes?). if my memory is correct? so i would say he's been to somewhere in europe and understands the notion of time zones.

  11. I'd like to watch, but that's a work day for me and a school day for the kids. I'll have the TV on, but don't expect to see much during the rush rush in the morning.

I remember watching Charles and Diana's wedding back in the day. It was on a Wednesday and I was on summer vacation, the summer between 8th and 9th grade.

  12. Okay seriously, what is up with posting a second entry claiming this wedding will be in US prime time. Enty and his help don't read the comments?

Actually, the following Monday is a "bank holiday" in England, so they scheduled the wedding so that everyone could have a four-day weekend. Pretty cool, in my opinion.
I watched the other royal weddings, so I'll watch this one, too. On my DVR. I'm just dying to see what her dress looks like.

  14. 6:00 am is definitely not prime time for me....I will confess that I'll Tivo the event and watch it during my real prime time. I watched his mom get married, I have this odd feeling I should watch him get married. I'm kind of like his long lost auntie.

I watched Charles and Diana get married and would not miss watching her beloved son marry his bride. I hope they have a long and very happy life together. I think Diana would have loved Kate.

  16. I love Enty, but as soon as I read this I thought "didn't we already cover this primetime conversation".

  17. I think his parents' wedding started at 3 or 4am Eastern US time (anybody?) I was up getting ready for painters, so I appreciated the motivation to get going that morning!

  18. Mikey I do also! =)

I agree, I think Diana would have adored Kate, and been fiercely protecive of her.

  19. I know people love all things royal but it's so boring to me. Kate has grown into her looks and I find her much prettier than when she first started dating the Prince. I would say the opposite is true for William.

I am wondering if the crown will go straight to William or will still go to Charles. I think the older royal history is so much more interesting.

  20. Joella, I think Di would have adored her too. It is so sad that she can't be there on her son's wedding day.

  21. I want to watch just to see what horrific outfit Camilla wears to try and upstage the bride.

  22. If they DID want to get married in US prime time, they'd have to get married at like 1 in the morning UK time. Don't think that would work.

I will be on a plane, somewhere over the Pacific ocean, most likely asleep, so I will not be watching.

  23. Weezy, my sentiments exactly LOL I'm certain feathers will be involved in hat.

  24. I already have the day booked off from work so that I and my friends can gather to watch together. Our husbands think we're nuts...but we're ready for the spectacle!

  25. Funny, I imagine Diana as disliking any serious girlfriends of William and Harry. I think she would have seen girlfriends as rivals for the attention of the princes.

I won't watch the hours long ceremony but I might catch the highlights on the news.

  26. Primetime on the East Coast of the United States would be midnight - 3am London time. Somehow I doubt they wedding is going to be at midnight.

Don't know where you could possibly construe that this wedding will be anything close to US primetime.

  27. I don't understand the JWOwwww comment?

Maybe they are taping the wedding & then broadcasting it during US Primetime?
