Kirstie Alley is showing some spunk. Fresh off her recent great job on DWTS, George Lopez tweeted a joke which made fun of Kirstie's size. I am all for jokes about cults and Scientology and how she ignores what is staring at her right in the face, but making fun of people because they are overweight is wrong. After a joke about her size he cut to video of a pig squealing. Anyway, George apologized, but Kirstie was having none of it. In a reply Tweet she said, "@georgelopez I don't need or want ur apology...I want your kidney dude..on behalf of ur X and all the women uv insulted...give it back."
That sounds like a very good idea. I also think Twitter should raise the characters to a number higher than 140 because we are dumbing down language even more than it already was.
oh Lord, who cares. Kirstie Alley is a twit.

Actually I'm glad it's only 140 characters - I don't want Kirstie to have the opportunity to say more...I used to really like her but now she seems like an arrogant, bitter woman. Much like Rosie O'Donnell - I don't really care what either of them have to say...

ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Kirstie by any means, but I don't think she should have to take cracks about her weight. It's obviously a sensitive subject to her, and is probably a phobia for him, as well.

ReplyDeleteMaking fun of someone because they are fat is off limits to me. I have some people in my family that are overweight and these comments really do HURT. George should never have gone there.

ReplyDeleteI am overweight, and i don;t care much for fat jokes because they are the most obvious/easy jokes out there. Any school kid on the playground can make a "piggy" joke.

I'm not a huge Kirstie fan, but I felt bad for her. I hate how fat jokes are so often aimed at women vs men. It's insulting. And not funny.

ReplyDeleteAt the risk of getting my CDAN Snark Membership Card taken away, I have to admit after seeing her on DWTS Monday, I have a newfound respect for Kirstie. I thought she was beautiful, hilarious, and her dancing was fantastic. Being a former fatty (I just lost over 50 pounds; went from a size 16 to a 6), I found myself getting choked up while she performed.
ReplyDeleteGuess what? Fat people *know* they're fat. We don't need anybody to point it out to us. Nobody wants to be fat. But I'm sure Kirstie will have the last laugh when she loses weight & firms up after all that dancing and George Lopez will still be the same bitter, skeevy old man who needs to pay chicks to have sex with him. BTW, George: Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 SUCKED and even my 6-yr-old agrees. Also, shouting at people does not equal comedy.

I hope Kirstie stays on DWTS for a while. I didn't see last week (and will miss this one if little OJ is on) but would love to see her slim down. She could look amazing on the DWTS exercise regimen.

ReplyDeleteGeorge Lopez received a kidney transplant from his wife and then divorced her. I wouldn't look at his show if you taped my eyes open. Not a big fan of hers, but Kirstie (as beautifully big as she is) could get lost in the pits on George's face.

ReplyDeleteWeight is not really a fair game. Only in comedy shows, not on the www or twitter. Then and only when weight is included with other jokes, is it fair game. I'm a big girl, so I'm not too offended.

Apparently in some men's opinions, the only reason women exist is to look/be fuckable all the time, and any woman who isn't (by their standards) is an affront to their very manhood. Good for her for not only throwing it back in his face, but heaving a big ol' rock into that glass house of his to boot. Besides, she may be fat, but he's an asshole, and she may well be able to lose weight...
ReplyDeleteGeorge Lopez is seriously one of the ugliest people out there, and judging from the above photo looks like he had major tightening work one on his face. He had bug eyes and saggy cheeks, and now looks like Burt Reynolds plastic surgeon worked on him
