I Thought Real Housewives Was Done With Cities

With the recent dropping of Washington DC, I thought I read or heard somewhere that Bravo promised no more new cities for Real Housewives. Well, they lied. Kind of. They are open to the idea of a Real Housewives of Toronto and have started casting. Honestly, I think I would have picked Vancouver over Toronto. Yes, I know people in Toronto think they are the center of Canada, but Vancouver has a more Hollywood vibe and maybe we would get another version of Beverly Hills. With Toronto I think it will be a lot like New York and New Jersey. I do think Canada deserves their own Real Housewives and maybe it will not even be shown in the States. I think there is a Real Housewives of Sweden or at least there was a pilot for it, but the funny thing was all the Swedish women lived in Los Angeles.

  1. I can't comment on Vancouver cause I've never been there, but since I live in Toronto I think this has the potential to be hilarious, or totally embarrassing.

The really rich, ie Rosedale/Forest Hill/Bridlepath, people won't do this, so I am scared of who it could be.

  2. Vancouver would be great. Real Housewives of Shaunessy. lol.

  3. This sounds cool! I only watch Bev Hills and sometimes Atlanta but I love the idea of doing shows from other places most U.S citizens arent familiar with. RHW of Sweden sounds dope, they should have tried to actually go to Sweden for it, and Canada sounds great too. And Bravo SHOULD air it here in the states!

  4. OMG Jax - or West Van! I would totally watch. My boss' wife would be perfect for this.

  5. Oh lordy. Between, hilarious and embarrassing, I'm skewing towards the latter. That said, I've read that Ben Mulroney's wife is mulling it over (now that could be interesting if her ex-prime ministerial in-laws got involved). With the total shallowness and dullness of the entire franchise, however, I honestly think Real Housewives of Chicoutimi would have more spice and sizzle.

  6. Vancouver would be way better although I have no interest in reality tv. I actually think Vancouverites could make it something I might watch, maybe Real Househusbands of the westend?

  7. lol @ J-Mo! Yes!! Gay househusbands of the West End! We need to make this happen.

  8. YES, there was a show on Swedish TV called "Swedish Hollywood Wives" and it was GLORIOUS! I watched every episode online. Then "Swedish New York-wives" came along but it wasn't quite as good.

You can YouTube "Maria Montazami", she was the one Swedish Hollywood wife who kind of sort of became famous (in Sweden) after the show. Has her own Hamburger at a Swedish fast food chain and everything *LOL*.

  9. I would watch Real Housewives of Vancouver. With the right mix of production company spouses, Asian immigrant spouses, and 'natives', it could be verrrrrry interesting.

  10. Oh, and Anna Anka (Paul Anka's now ex-wife) was on the first season of the show too. She wasn't very nice. To say the least. (P.S. "Anka" means "duck" in Swedish so she kind of sounds like she's a Disney-character)

Why not RHo Saskatoon or Winnipeg. Actually, I think Montreal would make a good one. That could be some entertainment.

  12. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh (said with a canadian accent)!! Winnipeg! The car theft capital of Canada!!! Two of the longest weeks of my life were lost to Winnipeg. With no rental car to get the hell out of there. Cuz the insurance is so high, what with all the car thefts and all. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's never going to happen.

Canada has a lot of weird laws regarding what can be shown of tv there. A large percentage of what's on tv has to be filmed IN Canada. Consequently, HGTV will run a loop of the same four shows shot in Canada all day long. Property Virgins and other crap.

All that being said, I'd be the first one to watch the Real Housewives of Canada - It would probably be the most unintentionally funny show on tv.
    Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!

  13. Actually, we only have laws about what can be shown on CANADIAN channels. We also get all the regular channels, too :) However, for a Canadian station to receive funding, the CRTC mandates that a certain percentage of content on that channel be Canadian.

  15. I'd like to see a RH of TX. Preferably, Dallas. Or one of our other large cities. Yeah, that was kind of off topic. :)

  16. I'm not entirely sure Bravo US has anything to do with this? I may be completely wrong but I was under the impression that a canadian production company's bought the rights to the housewives format and it will be Canadian and on slice? So those of you in the states will never actually get to see it. I can see Toronto being an okay city, but I don't think that this format will work in Canada. We are known for being polite/nice..... Except for toronto.... So maybe it will work after all...

  17. A friend of mine was asked to audition for Real Housewives of Vancouver, so I think something is in the works here. She is so over the top it would be hilarious!

  18. "Real Housewives of Iqaluit"

  19. Bravo just announced a new show called "Most Eligible:Dallas - this group of Texas socialites puts NY and LA nightlife to shame. "

I had no idea that Dallas even has "nightlife".

  20. I would much rather see the Real Housewives of Placenta Bay. Now THAT would be fun.

  21. I'd rather see another season of "Canada's Next Top Model". Thats how was hella fun.

I live in Vancouver and I hope all these useless "Real Housewives" type stay the hell outta here!

  22. Oops. "That show" not "Thats how". Stupid old-ass keyboard that sticks!!

  23. Oh, there's jax...
Hey jax! I was wondering if you had gone away.

  25. I live near Philadelphia in a very affluent suburb, and was sent an email from a production company about Real Housewives of the Main Line... seriously.

But NO WAY! If my friends do it, I may see what its about, but me? no. lol (I'm not super rich, but come from old money. they were asking for old money, and nouveau riche)

  26. Oh, joan.teresa! NOOOOOO!!! You can BET that Ben will push her to do this. Is Barbara Amiel back in Toronto? Conrad needs the money. And Janet Jones. I bet someone from the Bassett family will be involved. Is Slice owned by ctv?

A Real Housewives of Westmount (Montreal) would be good. They could get Guy Laliberté's former common-law wife who is suing him for $50 million. (Guy is the founder of Cirque du Soleil.)

  27. Of course I'll watch. Canadian or Sweden versions.

I haven't gotten to watch much of the Miami cast but wondered if they'd get axed like the DC ladies.

  28. @ shakey: Think you're probably right about Ben Mulroney. Also, LOVE your ideas about Barbara Amiel (Mrs. Conrad Black) and Janet Jones (Mrs. Wayne Gretsky). I didn't suggest Montreal because it's my home but I agree about Guy Laliberte's ex (or she who cannot be named and is called "Lola" in all news reports about the ongoing battle). How about Real Housewives of Outremont: now THAT would be tres chic!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Does Justin Trudeau live in Outremont? We could get his wife. And Véronique Cloutier. And Guy A. Lepage in drag, lol. Or Real Housewives of Hudson - get the nouveau riche hockey wives who are upset because their wine cellars aren't big enough.

That "Lola" thing kills me. EVERYONE knows who she is, yet it's considered a secret.

  30. @shakey: LOVE your further suggestions! Don't know if Justin Trudeau lives in Outremont (he might be living in his dad's old mansion on Pine Avenue). At any rate, he and his wife (evidently a "vedette" in her own right) are very telegenic (just read this morning she broke her arm skateboarding). Guy A. LePage in drag + telegenic? Not so much :-)))
