Add Foo Fighters To Bands Not Interested In Glee
I think it would have shocked me if Dave Grohl had jumped on the Glee bandwagon. I just don't see Foo Fighters songs being Glee-ified for television and Dave did not disappoint. Dave went on a serious rant about Ryan Murphy and The Hollywood Reporter got it all down.
“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f---ing Glee. And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f---ing show… f--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”
Well Dave don't hold back. I do think that Ryan Murphy is a little full of himself thinking that everyone should just want to let their songs be used on the show. Why should they want to? Because the show is on a network? Whoo hoo. It is not as popular as it once was and I think the shelf life of the show has about expired. It was cute and catchy, but there is only so much you can do with the show in its current format.
Why am I not surprised about this? Good for him.
ReplyDeleteHey...is Pat Smear back with Foo Fighters?
ReplyDeleteI watch Glee every week, and if I was a artist, I wouldn't let them use my music either. Good for them, not everyone has to hop on the bandwagon!
ReplyDeleteDid Ryan Murphy ask Foo Fighters to use their music? If not, where in the hell did this rant come from?
ReplyDeleteI don't blame him in the least. I watch the show and cringe at times at their renditions of songs.
ReplyDeleteLet me add: The cast is starting to look too old to play HS students convincingly. I'm so over Lea.
I can't wait until this show is canceled in a few years, is a major joke, and all the musicians that contributed to the show are embarrassed to have been associated with it. I'm sure Dave Grohl will be laughing his ass off then!
ReplyDeleteReason #2,001 to love Dave Grohl and his Fighters of Foo! Good on him!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME. That show massacres good (okay, *some* good) music and turns it into Kids Bop karaoke. And while I'm at it, the dialogue is atrocious, and Lea Michelle is probably *THE* most irritating actress alive right now.
ReplyDeleteI catch it for maaaaaybe fifteen minutes per week, and it's just train-wreckishly bad.
Also, I'm hardly a prude, but I think it's weird how there's an abundance of sexual activity on a show that presumably takes place within a high school. Glee makes reruns of 90210 look tame, by comparison.
I'm sure Ryan Murphy will now call Dave Grohl something really mature on twitter - like a "retard," for instance -- and he'll probably vilify him for obviously not caring about kids or music education.
Team Grohl.
ReplyDeleteAmen brotha! Love you Dave!!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to ever watch 5 minutes of that show. I'm annoyed it is even a show and I am sick of people talking about and glorifying it. If I was had to choose between Glee, anything Kardashian, Jersey Shore or Teen Mom or a hot poker in the eye... I think I'd rather rock an eye patch for life than expose myself to any of that shit. Oh wait, add to the list Dancing With The Stars too. I just can't...
I'm glad people like Slash, Kings of Leon and the Foo's are talking smack. Good for them!
Glee is complete shit.
ReplyDeleteI f---cking love Dave Grohl.
ReplyDeleteI watch and like Glee, but of course Dave's right. Ryan Murphy needs to get over himself.
ReplyDelete@mikey - I'm so over Lea, too. Everytime she opens her mouth to sing I roll my eyes these days. There's also too much singing now, not enough STORY.
No glee for me. I just found it to be annoying.
ReplyDeleteHey Bren, yes I believe Pat is back with the band now. As for Glee, I've never watched it. Not my cup o' tea.
ReplyDeleteI watch Glee--sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. That said, YES, YES, HELL-TO-THE-YES, does Lea get on my every last nerve. The chick who plays Quinn also annoys me sometimes when she delivers. Lines. In a really. Slow. Way. Bitch, please, you don't need that many pauses between words.
ReplyDeleteI’m really glad that Dave Grohl took the time out of his day to rant about what an entitled asshole Ryan Murphy is, because he is a total turd burglar.I’m really glad that Dave Grohl took the time out of his day to rant about what an entitled asshole Ryan Murphy is, because he is a total turd burglar.
Thank God for people like Dave Grohl who keep self-entitled assholes (yeah, I said it)in check.
ReplyDeleteRQ, I just about gagged when she was awarded MVP last week. Enough already! I really think she needs to graduate.
ReplyDeletelol for real.
ReplyDelete@Treesap - have you noticed the Quinn character sounds really stuffed up when she talks now, too? I think she's the answer to the blind about the Glee actress doing lots of blow.
I like/watch Glee but also completely agree w/ Grohl.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched Glee never been interested and from the many comments from musicians I been reading it seems like I made the right choice.....
ReplyDeleteNever watched Glee. Perez Hilton's annoying updates were enough to keep me away from it.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the few soulless bitches who hates Grease. It makes me shudder. With very few exceptions, musicals are cheesy. Good for Dave for not wanting to be associated with cheesy.
Why...OH Why could Glee not have gone away like Cop Rock did?
ReplyDeleteMy respect for Dave Grohl has been restored.
ReplyDelete@ RQ, now that you mention it she does seem rather stuffed up...
ReplyDeleteYes, Pat has been back with the Foos for several years now. He toured with them upon their last tour and was quite involved in their most recent CD which is due out in April.
ReplyDeleteSuck it, Glee. Unlike the Foos, you jumped the shark a long time ago.
BTW, yes, Murphy wanted to use Monkey Wrench, apparently...
ReplyDeletethanks Wine for confirming that he did ask to use one of their songs.
ReplyDeleteI like Glee. I like it a lot.
BUT Ryan Murphy is digging his own grave (I guess he did this with Nip/Tuck too) where he just takes it too far.
They used to be the kids that could and actually send a decent message. It's kinda gone to the way side on that one.
you don't have to watch Glee to know that it jumped the shark after Fishsticks Paltrow's last dead fish performance.
ReplyDeleteDave Grohl...rock god.
ReplyDeleteNo, wait...
Dave Grohl....god.
Better.
Glee is a fleeting thing.
ReplyDeleteThe Foos are forever.
I watched some of the early Glee shows and liked it because it was original if nothing else, was surprised at the "sophisticated" story for the time it's on though.
ReplyDeleteBut it got boring real quick for me, there have been so many more interesting TV shows that got cancelled after a few months that I just don't understand it.
It is understandable they do not want their music on the show - that's their right and Ryan Murphy shouldn't be criticizing any artists for that - but financial gain aside, the good thing about having music on that show is that a whole new audience are exposed to singers/bands they wouldn't normally listen to.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I like about is Rachel, so I have to agree to disagree with some posters.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dave Grohl is a hero. Ryan Murphy could accept defeat with some dignity, but he has to bully the bands/musicians that don't want to be on the show. So Dave's rant was well deserved. Ryan Murphy needs to get over himself really quickly. But I don;t see that happening. Glee fangirls are the most annoying bunch on the internet and they love all the crap they write and those who don't love it are considered just haters.
