Warner Brothers Remaking The Bodyguard

Warner Brothers has decided to go back in time and resurrect one of their biggest hits ever. Instead of coming up with something fresh and new, Warner Brothers is going to rewrite The Bodyguard in hopes that it will be just as big of hit as the first time around. The first one starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. I'm guessing this one will go more youthful to try and get a new generation involved. That movie was Whitney in her prime. She had the drugs under control enough to where she could still sing like almost no one ever has. The problem with that movie besides Kevin Costner is that it gave rise to singers thinking they could act and studios rolling the dice with them. How do you think Mariah and Britney got movies. "It's the next Bodyguard."

I wish they would remake My Bodyguard. That movie could be remade into something much better than the original which was nice, but a new updated version could be a little darker and edgier. I think that one starred Rudy from Meatballs. Yeah, you know the kid with no friends who Bill Murray friends. Now that was a great movie.

  2. I want to star in this. I could be the American Susan Boyle to maybe Mickey Roarke? Ok, so he isn't hot anymore but neither am I and Enty did say "Darker and Edgier" It would have to be darker so people didn't freak out at my swim suit scenes or Mickey's close ups and nothing says edgy like a middle aged housewife with a brand new singing career being stalked. Whitney can be the stalker! Oh hell to the no!

  3. Dlisted's profane Emperor of Wit Michael K. expressed it more or less perfectly:

"And aaaaaaaah-eeeeeeee-aaaaah don't want this shit to happen."

  5. AMEN! My Bodyguard ruled! Still love that movie. That is one that I don't think I would mind if they remade.

I don't understand why people liked "The Bodyguard" didn't think it was that great.

  7. I liked the movie okay and thought that Whitney and Kevin had some chemistry. Whitney's acting didn't suck.

With the right casting, it might be okay. Similar to "A Star Is Born" this may be a story that can be redone well.

Or it could be another stinko.

Why can't Hollywood come up with an original idea? They have made a movie out of just about all of my childhood cartoons. I guess they are all too coked up to have a good idea anymore.

  9. to amh.producer. . .Adam Baldwin is the *only* reason to occasionally watch Chuck, lol. And My Bodyguard was a great movie, I was convinced after seeing it that I would marry Chris Makepeace. (Whatevah happened to him?)

Didn't like The Bodyguard the first time, don't want to see it again. Maybe they could reverse roles and make the Biebs the singer, lol.

  10. Adam Baldwin is THE BEST!!!

The first part of 'Taken' was kind of like a 'Bodyguard' redo. They should expand on that if they want a good sequel. I know it was a huge age difference, but those two had chemistry, and no matter what his age is, Liam Neeson is HOT. And 'Taken' and 'Unknown' have proved his box office mojo.

  11. awwww, I love Chuck. Adam is just a bonus for me.

And LOL on the reverse and Beiber being the singer. And I HOPE the remake peeps aren't reading this because it would be money-making GOLD.

  12. after the horrible Fame remake can't Hollywood leave well enough alone.

A million screenwriters and they go recycle old movies.

    Blech.

By "young female singer with global appeal" they mean Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Lea Michele (kill me) or Susan Boyle, right? Fuck my life with Kevin Costner's samurai sword.

LOL! If it's Miley it will be a double suicide.

I'm sure White Oprah will be pushing forward LiLo or "The other daughter" (what is her name??) as contenders.

  14. This is going straight to video. Epic fail Warner Brothers.

  15. What was cool about "The Bodyguard" was the interracial romance between Whitney and Costner. That would be passe now, I think. But I'd nominate RiRi for the lead role. God knows she could use a good bodyguard to protect her from all those assholes she always seems to hook up with.

  16. But having said that (see above) I kinda wish they would cast Miley. That would be so unintentionally hilarious. It would become an instant classic as one of those movies that is so bad, it's good.

  17. I loved My Bodyguard. I think it would do well as a remake. But this crap? No thanks...

  19. I never saw The Bodyguard but I am a big Nick Lowe fan ... interesting trivia: he made more money from the cover of "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding" that's on the Bodyguard soundtrack than he did with his own recording/performing career. That soundtrack sold something like 12 million copies. So when my little boy asks me what he should be when he grows up, I always tell him, songwriter.

  20. I LOVED The Bodyguard. I think I even had the soundtrack. I loved "The Queen of the Night."

    Remaking this is stupid....

I've never seen My Bodyguard but it's gotten enough endorsements on here I might add it to the Blockbuster Queue.

  21. oh no.

Jennifer Hudson, don't answer your phone.

  22. I am sure if they remake this movie, it will be with an all white cast. Kellen Lutz guarding Taylor Swift or something like that. Why take a chance right? It might be more interesting if they reverse the roles and have a kick ass woman guarding a male singer. Any way I am sure it will suck ass like most remakes.

  23. @G - Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, any of them!!

  24. i will bet you $4.27 that Rihanna will be starring in this mess.

  25. I like the idea I just read on twitter - gender reversal, and make it Justin Bieber and Michelle Rodriguez. Can you imagine? LOL!

  26. I'll pay money to see it if it's Jake Gyllenhal guarding Justin Timberlake, with Travolta as the manager. Other than that, I will pass.

Chris Makepeace rules. He was also in the Sean Penn spy movie with the awesome David Bowie song (I just went totally blank on that) and Vamp with Grace Jones. Yeah, I saw everything he was in back in the day.

  27. I would like to nominate The Rock for the Bodyguard. Mmmmm The Rock.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. FS: That would be the Falcon & the Snowman, and IIRC Timothy Hutton was the other co-star; the cool Bowie song was "This is Not America"--I remember all this because the soundtrack came out while I was still a college DJ, and I remember seeing it in the stacks.

And yeah, ixnay on the Bodyguard remake...

  29. OK. I am guessing the idiots in Hollywood get RiRi and Shai for the leads. Wanna bet? I would also bet to try and get the role Miley pulls a Sean Young.

  30. I love Meatballs so much! It's one of the few movies that if I'm flipping through channels and it's on, I will always stop to watch it.

  31. I vote for Helen Mirren and Russell Brand.

What? She can get it (from me) and I think they've got good chemistry.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Falcon and the Snowman, thank you. Yes I know I could have looked it up but I was too busy reading blinditemsexposed.com about the Lainey item and the juicy Tom Cruise item from Ted C. Very productive day I'm having here...

  33. I LIKE Mooshki's idea!

  34. Angelina guarding the Biebs?

  35. Remake of The Bodyguard? Ba ba ba ba ba boring! Remake of My Bodyguard, love it! Meatballs is such a great movie. "Are you ready for the summer? Are you ready for the good times...."
