Roseanne Barr To Run A Nut Farm
When I first saw that Roseanne Barr was going to run a nut farm for television I thought that it was kind of rude to refer to mentally challenged people that way. Then I read the article and it turns out she is going to run a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii and of course it is all for reality television. Much like Tori Spelling resurrected her career from big hits like Mother May I Sleep With Danger by running a bed and breakfast, Roseanne wants to show the world that she can harvest nuts. Tom Arnold not included.
Back in the day Roseanne was the Queen of television. She was everywhere and guest hosted The Tonight Show and had her own talk show but has never quite managed to reach the fame she once had when her show was number one and she was getting $500K for her stand up routine for one night. She was the last big fodder for tabloids before the internet took over and each week we would learn about her and her relationships.
I hope this works for her, but the premise does not really sound all that exciting.
If she does NOT take her meds daily, it'll be interesting.
ReplyDeleteI can see her being all 'spiritual' in Hawaii...
ReplyDeleteI will give it a glance. I've always like her.
I can't help it, but I like her. Always did.
ReplyDeleteIt will be exciting because they will manufacture the drama, just like all "reality" shows.
ReplyDeleteShe really was hot stuff back in the day. I loved her show and even before that I followed her stand-up when she first started out.
ReplyDeleteYears later and she's doing radio commercials for some old casino on the Vegas highway station. Sad.
I DVR'd her appearance on Oprah yesterday, but haven't seen it yet.
I'll watch a new show with Roseanne. The Joan and Melissa Rivers' deal is hilarious.
I *think* I remember her telling Craig Ferguson about this.
ReplyDeleteI think she is a little kooky but I'd probably watch it.
Wasn't she at one point talking about running for President??? Can you imagine?
Roseanne is so whacked out kooky, that she could take any premise and make it funny. I just hope that she doesn't embarrass herself and ruin what's left of her rep with a reality show. Roseanne with a structured script = comedy gold. Roseanne left to her own devices could = disaster or brilliant.
ReplyDeletemmmm macadamia nuts...
ReplyDeleteI love love love Roseanne. Years ago before she was famous she did these supermarket commercials, I forget for who. I was living in SoCal at the time and I'll never forget I actually stopped what I was doing to watch her ad it was so funny. About a year or 2 later her show started and I remembered her from the ads and so made sure I watched her show. There was nothing on TV like it, but plenty imitated it after. She got bad backlash after the anthem which is sad.
ReplyDeleteThat woman is the greatest female commedian ever!
Has she worked out custody with the father of her youngest child? Last I heard, by mutual agreement she moved to Hawaii. But then she changed her mind about paying for her ex's flights and accommodations during his visitation so now he's suing for her to keep paying for that or to return their son to LA so he can see him regularly.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I can't help but love her. I think she's had the farm for a few years now...
ReplyDeleteI've been watching reruns of the later years of Roseanne on Sunday mornings. I haven't watched the show since I was a teenager. Pretty funny stuff, no wonder I'm so sarcastic.
ReplyDelete@Anna--all this time, I thought I remembered it being "take me out to the ballgame" that she slaughtered, even said something about it on here, but I googled it and it WAS the anthem. Dang. My memory is horrible, but why was she asked? I mean, she's not a singer.
ReplyDeleteANYWAY, I thought she was funny, and I hope she does well on her show.
I saw Oprah for about two seconds yesterday and it was when John Goodman was on and he looked really good and thin. Good for him, too.
One other castmember was on there--the lady who played Roseanne's sister, what was it, Jackie? I am SOOOO glad that she looked better than what she looked like in that adopt a dog commercial. HOLY SHIT she looks bad in those ads!!!
Laurie Metcalf.
