Radio

Yesterday was a great day and I hope today can even be better. To give a little incentive, if we can raise $1500 today, I will reveal 4 or 5 blind items tomorrow from the blind item archives and will definitely be sure to include 1 or 2 really juicy items.

I want to thank everyone who has helped or sent me an e-mail or message on Facebook stating how excited they are about the show. Me too. My mom? Not so much. She is not too keen on having people entering her house early Saturday mornings. I told them if they got me a separate entrance, she would not even notice. Until of course they started cooking.

For those of you who contributed, Carli and I will be thanking you on the air, and yes, one of the first guests will be Jax if she would be willing and that way people can know we are two separate people. I have not asked her yet though.

So, if you are able, please hit the button on the upper left. Have a great day!!

  1. You know the reason I want to be a Federal lawyer? Because the starting salary is 124,056.00/year. And that's working for the government! I wonder how much private sector lawyers make?

    ReplyDelete
  2. My sister made that her first year. She is a partner now...

  3. I've got 2 friends that are corporate lawyers and they started well over the salary I will be (hopefully) making when I finish school, and they're just associates. I wonder how much a parter makes at a big law firm? Probably 200k+. I'm sure it can/will go higher depending on which/how many accounts they get.

  4. That's a pittance for an entertainment lawyer. This post is a reveal.

  5. Okay, Enty....
Can't wait for the reveals - and really can't wait for the show.
You better broadcast in Atlanta is all I gotta say.

  7. I must of missed the post on this announcement...What's going on? Enty is getting a radio show for Saturday morning? Yeah! I can't wait. Let's hope it's not too early =)

I have no doubt in my mind that Jax and Ent are not the same (writing styles are different), but that's not the question I have currently in my head...

  9. Money is great, but remember how many hours attorneys have to work. Not my scene at all. However, I'm really excited about this radio show!

how much have you raised so far? and how much do you need? that's fair for you to answer. btw, just make sure you reveal something that posters cannot piece together from other sites or news. 'kay?!

  12. YOU'RE NOT JAX??? WELL THE WHO IS JAX? IS JAX A MAN? ARE YOU A WOMAN? HELP ME. I AM SO CONFOOZLED.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yesterday this site was full of advertisements. Today there are two - one of whom is the woman he owes his design to. And you want to know why? Because he doesn't want you to see this:

Put your money back in your pockets peeps, you need it more than he does.

  14. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Enty!!! Please, make this ALSO available via podcast! I WOULD LOVE your show but I am on dialup and cannot stream e'en audio. I have to go to public Wifis to download content but can usually do that quickly.
Thank you for keeping me SO VERY entertained FOR YEARS. I am looking forward with to this new endeavour with all my heart! I don't care who you are, just keep it going... Good luck!
    Peace,

P.S. Thanx for posting the Railroad Earth pic! For $20, a second posting wouldn't be opposed...

  15. Yeah, what DID happen to the ads, actually?

^^still think he needs your money?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I thought it looked a little naked around here. I never understood the fund raising around here but I don't have money to donate to anyone and I can't justify donating money to an attorney. My boyfriend works with them day in and day out w/his business. We don't know of a single one of them that are hurting for cash even in this economy.

Anyhoo, speaking of ad space....don't you just sell ad space aka radio time to fund this kind of venture? I believe that is how all radio is funded is it not?

Why he couldn't advertise this gig on here? We have posters who are out of jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes'm, Ms Pinky.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Lady Chatterly, my guess is the gig is still available. I mean, there are no ads on the site today. And EL says he needs dineros.

It was originally posted in April 2009. Someone here could have what it takes to generate income for this site.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There's an email addy on that want ad. It may still be functional for anyone who wants the job.

    ReplyDelete
  25. *pie hole hanging open*

Like I said, I don't "donate" money to lawyers but then again, how can you be a lawyer and have time to do this shit anyway?

I don't even know why I'm shocked, I think most people are assholes anyway. lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, you're definitely right about this guy Blah.

Listen - I don't care if he makes money on this site by advertising - that's why you start an entertainment blog, right? But what I do mind is him asking you for money when he's already got two incomes - the blog and the 'entertainment lawyer' job.

I did a little research for you. I have a friend who has a radio show on the internet every week (and it's a really good one with celebrities.) They have a sponsor and they pay for their time. How much does it cost? $100 per hour.

In these economic times you should be well informed about where your money is going.

  28. LOL, Maja!

Did you guys read Enty's first post? He said he just needs donations for the first two airings, and after that he expects to have ads that will pay for it to continue.

Why on earth should Enty pay to provide us with entertainment? I don't care how much he makes as a lawyer; he puts hours of work every single day into writing the blog, why shouldn't he get something back for it?

If you don't want to, or aren't able to donate, just don't. But don't blame him for asking - it's up to each person to decide what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sue Ellen, I hate to burst your bubble but being a gov't atty does not start at $124K. I should know; I am one. That's the starting pay for senior executive service. The rest of us are general service. I started 16 years ago at $45,000 and only now make $106K. We do fine but will never get rich working for the gov't.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, I hate say that everyone is an asshole so I should clarify that 95% of the lawyers I have met are greedy assholes and the other 5% I haven't met in person yet.

According to those pages you guys linked to this thread, it says that we all average a salary of 114,000 a year. If you guys aren't keeping that average up and I'm not keeping that average up, who is? I guess whoever is donating for that radio show!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous2:56 PM

well the ads on this site are a stream of revenue, so why are there no ads? the revenue from those ads can help pay for the radio spot. this site has been advertising for months. and why the hell are you ALWAYS the one to clarify any and all things CDAN. maybe you should apply for that usajob.

or it's time for you to get a real boyfriend. one that you can actually see and feel.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Am I the only one who donated last time he asked with the promise of a signed Amber Tamblyn book if I donated above a certain amount?
I really enjoy this site, but I feel totally duped by the last promise. Not to mention the fact that he never responded to any emails.
    Kinda shady, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  33. forgot to mention - no book - no email
    FAIL

    ReplyDelete
  34. "Why on earth should Enty pay to provide us with entertainment?"

    LOL

I turn on my radio for free. They entertain me for free. Same with tv. They don't ask me for donations. Neither do any other specific web sites. That has to be the stupidest sentence I've seen related to this subject. No one is forcing him to do this. If he can't afford to launch the venture, then wait until you have the proper backing to do it like every other business does.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous3:02 PM

well, people invest in their side businesses all the time. if those links are correct and this site get 2 million hits, then there should be money in the pot.

oh and right, how nice that jax will be the first guest on the radio show. i wonder if other "regular" readers will get the same opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous3:04 PM

    a stupid sentence indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You're not the only one that's had shady dealings with him, farmgirl. Hoping others will speak up now about their misfortunes, or maybe there will be a news story. Who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous3:13 PM

    WTF's going on!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. This truly does confuse me every time the donation/money issue comes up. I could care less if Enty makes money, but I don't understand the asking for donations from us. It is weird. TMZ, Celebitchy, DListed, etc. don't ask for donations THEY HAVE ADS!!!!!

    Why can't CDAN do that?

If he is a so called lawyer, he's got to be smart enough to figure out how to make money off this damn blog.

Hell- Mormon Houswives in Utah are RAKING in the CASH from their little blogs, I'm sure Enty can too.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, I never got paid the around $5000 owing to me for a script option. Guess I'll never see that, unless EL is willing to hand over three days worth of radio money.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mistik, are you serious? I'm only aware of asking for money this around. I take it there was another time.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous3:28 PM

sheeeet. i can't speak on how much it actually costs to be on the radio. i do know this: i got to the point in my life where i wanted to be my own person. so before i started a successful biz, i had to keep working for the man. i put in 40hrs for them and worked part-time for myself 7 days a week. yes, seven.

all the while i had to stash money and live on the cheap to cover my biz expenses. i didn't have kids so that made it doable.

not sure if entertainment lawyer has kids?? but the absent ads today don't make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes, rebellious, contrary and nice, I am dead serious. I think I am one of the few people who has met EL in person (the other being Jax, I guess). I got one payment, none of the others owing by the time the option lapsed.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I posted a lot here in the early days; I just lurk now. But this post brought me out of lurkdom.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm the same as Mistik. In fact, back in the early days we all felt like you, Mooshki and defended him to the max. It was all fun and games and then someone 'lost an eye.' I"m not here to rehash old shit, though. Just want you guys to be careful about your wallets.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Did I miss the link to the radio show?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Mooshki posted that in today's blind item.

  50. I wish "Anna" had never deleted her "EL is a fraud" blog. But anyway, here you go:

    http://cdansucks.blogspot.com/

Go there and bitch away about how much you hate EL, CDaN, and me. Complain to your heart's content.

And leave the rest of us who enjoy coming here to have fun and enjoy the escape from our daily lives without all the drama.

    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't see anyone bitching. Just raising legitimate questions about where the money is going. Why is that wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I wasn't talking about you, Mistik - I'm really sorry you got screwed. This was in response to ea17.

    ReplyDelete
  53. And I don't have any problem with people questioning what's going on. I just hate that a few people always dredge up the old drama and bring old grievances into everything. When there was an outlet for them to complain, it made things more peaceful here, and I'd like to go back to that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't have any problems with Enty asking for money. I don't know him, but I am going to guess that he started the blog not knowing how big it would get. As most people do. The majority of bloggers have annoying ads AND donate buttons.

I read two other blogs now that started out as just email forwards to a close group of friends. Now these two are fairly big blogs who use advertising. Anyone that says they wouldn't do the same is full of shit, I'm sorry.

One thing I do know about is running websites & it isn't free. And while no one is twisting Enty's arm to do this, I see no reason why he is condemned every time this is brought up.

As far as some other claims, I don't know anything about an Amber Tamblyn book scam (which always gives me a good chuckle) or Enty owning anyone $5k; that's between Enty & those individuals. Bottom line is, if you don't have the money to donate or don't want to THEN DON'T! And if it bothers you that much then I'll quote the GOOP by saying "DON'T LOG IN!"

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am happy to report that after reading this string, Enty has contacted me about my post and we are cool.

Personally, I love to read this blog and when possible get involved in a conversation about the shenanigans in Hollywood. I tell all my friends about it, and hope to keep supporting it in any way I can.

    ReplyDelete
  56. MCH, I was with you for a while, but you lost me at GOOP. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Blogger is free.

What Mistik and I have told you is called information. What you do with it is up to you.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Pinky - Blogger is free. But once a blog gains a certain amount of notoriety, it usually behooves the author to move on to self hosting, getting a real domain, etc. none of which are free. Once a site has a certain amount of traffic a lot of the free blogs can experience difficulties, like the site going down.

Again, I do this for a living, so I know what I'm talking about. What Enty is doing is no different than the million of other bloggers out there.

I haven't donated enough money to lose any sleep over, so I'll let you do all the worrying for me.

    ReplyDelete
  59. "I haven't donated enough money to lose any sleep over, so I'll let you do all the worrying for me."

    LOL - thanks MCH!

BTW - I believe I coined the term 'Enty' back in the day. Please click my donate button :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. LOL, MCH!

Pinky, sadly, I just quit my job so I can't donate anything - otherwise, I'd definitely send you a dime for your important contribution. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  61. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, huh?

    And @BoredAtty

I think the amount of $$ you make has a lot to do with where you are and what you specialize in. I don't want to be a criminal attorney.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think the amount of $$ you make has a lot more to do with whether you can get a job. Check out the current employment rate of recent law school graduates.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, if I can't get a job I can always fleece people on the internet, right?

    ReplyDelete
  64. No one is saying enty doesn't have a right to make money off the blog through ads. That's how all blogs work. I missed where anyone bitched about that. I believe where people had a problem is him asking for donations to fund a venture of his even though he is in a profession that makes damn good money in addition to the income he receives for his blog. Not only asking for donations but also setting a bench mark for the day! Kinda sleezy feel to it and apparently, I wasn't the only one that felt that way.

Now having said that....there is also a history of money issues in the past on this site (that book deal~that's been dragging around forever) and he's asked for money in the past for the ability to get photos of celebrities for the site. That was like a last minute panic if I remember correctly. Kinda felt like one of those "someone fucked up the checkbook" situations and it prolly had little to do with paying for pictures and more to do with someone's rent.

However, if you even question anything in the least--perhaps point out that it looks a tad sleezy or scamish.....off with your head around here. THAT makes it look even more shady. If that wasn't the intent, then you would think that you would want to get the right meaning across and not come across like you are trying to fleece people. I've been coming here for years and it's like every 6 mos or so this stuff crops up. It's always handled poorly. Asking for donations and ripping down your ads on the same day looks shady. Period. If you don't want to be called out for looking shady, then don't act shady.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous7:10 AM

it's downright disturbing how Mooshki knows all about cdan and anti-cdan. how much time do you have on your hands?

who quits a job in a recession? do you have another lined up? those savings will run out, if you don't have another gig.

do you run the anti-site? btw, CDAN Entertainment is hiring!

    ReplyDelete
  66. @Sue Ellen -
Location/speciality def. have everything to do with what you make upon graduation, based on all the lawyers I know. I think most of the ones I know did not make that the first year but some weren't far from it.
As far as your last statement.....the world is your oyster, honey! :)

@BlahFrickinBlah - I see your point, I really do. I guess I just don't care enough to question it? If you feel turned off by the requests, why keep reading the blog? And if someone in the past feels like they legitimately got scammed, why not hire a lawyer? It's not like this is a Nigerian Prince scam. :)

Of course I don't know everyone's situation but...there just seems to be a lot of extraordinarily bitter people on here for things that happened 5 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @MCH

I think a lot of the hard feelings come from years of odd things like this happening and when it's pointed out, you get a shitstorm from the people who are so convinced that Ent is on the up and up, and you get called names like "idiot" for not believing in someone who is allegedly a lawyer yet must continue to ask for money to pay for pictures and now this radio spot.

Like someone else said, you don't see the other gossip blogs doing this. Hell, MK at Dlisted quit his job cause the money he made off his blog was enough. I say, good for them. If you can make lots of money off a blog, doing something you love, like celeb gossip, then amazing. It's when the devious shit comes in that people have a problem. Couple that with the instant shitstorm you have to deal with if you disagree with certain people, you get a lot of bitterness.

Personally, I've never donated a cent of "hard" money and I never will because lawyers aren't poor by any stretch, but some people have and some people have gotten scammed by Ent. Sorry, but in my books that ain't right and when you do shady shit, you get called out for it.

As far as me being a lawyer and how much money I will make, I could give a shit. I just threw that out there to get the conversation going. Thankfully, people who have REALLY been scammed by Ent came in, cause otherwise, it would have been another me vs. mooshki and whomever else again. For the millionth time.

    Bottom line?

Don't spit in my face and tell me it's raining. Nothing makes me more angry than when someone (or someones) insult my intelligence.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh, and the reason I personally come back here, is the people. Obviously not all the people, but there are some really intelligent people on this site who make great points that, perhaps, I might not have considered otherwise.

Also, Dlisted requires too much energy to come up with witty quips whereas here, you pretty much just need intelligent/insightful comments and you're good.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anonymous8:07 AM

oh how wunnerful, enty has contacted a reader. how wunnerful. ;)

    ReplyDelete

sue ellen, you are right about dlisted.

    ReplyDelete
  72. good points, sue ellen. i whole heartedly agree... which reminds me, i need to call out a friend for doing something shady to my sister...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Honestly, it feels great to actually have proof of what I, and others, have thought all along. After so many years and months of being called names because I, logically, see flaws in this Ent Lawyer story.

That being said, had I been wrong about something being not right with this guy, I would have gladly eaten my hat and apologised.

    That is all.

One more think, thanks to mistik and pinky for coming out and telling the truth. Makes me not feel as bad.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I never called anyone an idiot.

It's definitely been entertaining to read people's thoughts on this subject year after year. That is for sure! :)

Maybe EL will address some of these things on the radio show.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I wasn't talking about you.

    ReplyDelete
  76. ^I didn't think you were, but was just clarifying. I get where you are coming from, lady. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Just thought I'd leave my two cents here. I rarely comment, but I am on this web page every day, usually multiple times per day looking for updates. So when Enty asked for money for the celebrity pictures, and promised thank you emails in return, I donated. I'm a vet student, and don't have a lot of money, but I figured I could help out a blog that gave me a break from the stresses of vet school. I was beyond disappointed when I never heard a thank you from Enty. Clearly, I haven't stopped reading the site, but I will never donate again. I know it was my choice to donate when I have so little, but I feel that if you promise something in return for a donation, the least you can do it kept that promise. I can see why people are upset, and I think everyone should have the right to express their feelings, whether or not others agree, without being told to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  78. @Melanie - So you would have been happy & complaint free if Enty had emailed you "Thank you"?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Figgy, your second question answers your first one. I have a boring job with way too much free time, and I'm quitting because I want something more challenging. Yes, the economy is bad, but I'll get a job eventually, or I'll go back to school. I'm just taking a break to figure out what I want to do next. Thanks so much for your kind concern.

I don't "run" the anti-site, I just plopped it up there so the haters would have somewhere to go and complain to their hearts content. If someone else wants to start their own site, please go for it. Anything that will help reduce the bitching around here is cool by me.

And I'll say it again, although no one listened the last dozen times I said it, I am fine with people questioning and complaining, it is the few people who get nasty about it that I hate. And if you want to know who I'm talking about, just look at the three people in this thread who made personal attacks against me.

One last thing - why is it that some of you think that the complainers have more of a right to express their opinion than the defenders?

    ReplyDelete
  80. @MCH,

I just saying do what you promised. If you say you are going to send a book for donating a certain amount, then do it. If you say you are going to acknowledge those individually who donate, then do it as well. There's nothing wrong with expecting people to do what they promise.

Also, I'm not complaining, I was only sharing my experience as others had done. I simply said I was disappointed. If you get complaining from that sentence, then I think you are reading too much into my post.

I reiterate again that people should be allowed to post their experiences/feelings/etc without sarcastic replies. I understand that people want a drama free blog, but you create drama when you attack someone for expressing their opinion. Unfortunately, this seems to happen too often on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  81. @Melanie - Gotcha
