Live To Dance Canceled

A month or two ago I posted an item about how Paula Abdul's show Live To Dance was getting some lousy ratings and there was no way CBS would renew the show for another season. I was even kind of half expecting that the show would be canceled mid-season and viewers would be forced to watch any remaining episodes online or something like that. Well, it turns out that on Friday, Paula received a call saying the show would not be renewed. The show only managed 4 million viewers for the finale. That is like a strong cable show, not something CBS expects from its primetime lineup. Now Paula is unemployed again. You know that everyday she must still be kicking herself and yelling at her agent for not keeping her on Idol.

  1. It's really too bad that the show is so terrible.
Simon should get her on the ex-factor. They have great chemistry and kind of temper each others' meanness/niceness.

I think it's too bad AI screwed over Paula by lowballing her on salary. I'm glad she stood her ground.

  2. I think Paula made right decision to leave AI because it was a sinking ship. The minute they brought in that 4 judge, I would have been outta there. The 3 original judges had good chemistry and AI messed with the chemistry. Poor thing, she wants to work so bad. I hope Simon puts her on his new show.

  3. Is it wrong that I wish there were cameras following her when she got that call? I'll bet it made her Bratz-movie-removal meltdown look like child's play.

  4. I think this is the best thing to happen to her. Simon will scoop her up for X-Factor and she will earn 10x more then she did on idol or her crappy dance show.

  5. What is wrong with her eyes on that photo? Just high, or what is it?

  7. Okay, I admit it, I watched the show. It was kind of amusing and I love dance competitions or cooking competitions or fashion competions or even love competions.

But, I digress... I think the show needed to narrow down the style of dance, the number of dancers in a single group, or hell, even the age of contestants. You had senior citizens (awwww) competing against darling little kids (even more awwww).

The show, like our girl Paula, was just all over the place. Unlike SYTYCD there were no real surprises as to the style of dance from week to week. A ballet dancer danced ballet every week, tap danced tap and so on.

Two cute little kids won the whole deal in the end, so there was one good thing to come out of it.

  8. @LadyJ from imdb trivia

Paula Abdul was originally hired as the movie's Executive Producer, Fashion Designer, and Dance Choreographer. During an episode of her reality TV series "Hey Paula" (2007), she found out that she had been fired from the movie through an e-mail message on her Blackberry.

  11. Poor Paula. She should do another reality show! I never watched her old one but the clips on The Soup were always hilarious.

  13. Paula wanted to be the star of a show. If she really just wanted to do a dance show, Nigel would've chopped off his left nut to get her on SYTYCD.

  14. Ugh, yet another dance-based reality show-no wonder it flopped. How many of them are there these days? Well, one less now, I guess...

  15. Wrong network, wrong show. Do we really need another show where parents pimp their kids? Awwwwwwwww, the kids won. Give me a break!

  16. I think people overestimated Paula's likeability. I, for one, thought she was the worst thing about Idol and was glad to see her go. Annoying, simpering sycophant.
