The Golden Globes People Decided They Like Ricky Gervais After All
You know all that talk that came out of the mouths of the Golden Globes people? You know, about how they thought Ricky Gervais went too far and that he was banned and probably would never get one of their rigged nominations? Yeah, that. Well, it turns out that once they saw the ratings and the buzz and all the publicity they had a change of heart and not only unbanned Ricky, but also asked him to come back next year and host again. Yep, nothing screams louder than the mighty dollar and if they had Ricky they could probably get a better deal from NBC, or at least keep the deal they have in place.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Ricky said, 'The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. (But) I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure. You know me. Two seasons is enough.'
I thought Ricky was good as a host. I like people who shake things up and that is what he did. He does not really need them to make a lot of money. He does just fine. Even with what he says and the things he does, he had no problem pulling in every celebrity possible for Invention Of Lying which is a great movie.
It also goes to show that The Golden Globes people are perfectly willing to step on toes and bruise feelings for ratings and dollars.

ReplyDeleteand this is news why?
End of the day, they're Hollywood after all.
well, they ARE Hollywood...except they are also willing to throw the celebrities under a bus if need be. I would think that would make this a slightly more unpredictable show to a certain degree. I know one thing, it worked as far as I am concerned. If he hosts again I will not miss it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! If he does host again, I wonder if RDJ will boycott it...Ricky was too mean-spirited for him!
ReplyDeleteI want him to do the Oscars!
ReplyDeleteTempest in a tea pot.
ReplyDeleteHe played for us at home, not for those in that room. Good for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna lie, I'll watch the whole show with Ricky G. as a host, I like that he says what most of us comment on this kind of blogs.
ReplyDeleteI love it, wasn't going to watch...but he was great..

ReplyDeletewas there ever any doubt????
Rick ROCKED IT. I love seeing pretty shiny people squirm in their seats!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he is finally getting some positive acknowledgement from the Foreign Press (not that he needed it, but still). He rocked the show - I NEVER watch a whole awards show (unless the remote is too far away to reach and I am feeling particularly lazy). He made it so entertaining. Love him.
ReplyDeleteI too thought he did a great job. I'm not sure doing it for a third time would be an awesome thing for him but I wonder who could possibly top his performance...
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of hypocrites those GG people are!!!
ReplyDeleteI fucking love Ricky. He's so right about the publicity. I wish he would host everything.
ReplyDeleteNow the GG people are denying this.
ReplyDeletethe HFPA never dammed Ricky after the show. That was the publicists going into a tizzy becuase they are so used to being in power and controlling the media with what is said about their movie star clients. Hello Kneepads.
ReplyDeleteThey tried to bash/blackball Ricky but America got the joke, too bad they didn't. Throw the bank and Ricky and bring him back next year. They all got exactly what they deserved. it was FUNNY!!
I have never watched the Golden Globes in my life, but if he hosts again, I will definitely watch next year.
ReplyDeleteSo if that's what they're going for, they got it!
HA! So fickle those people...
ReplyDeleteHe's the ONLY reason the Golden Globes was worth watching. We even had a Golden Globes party..."what will Ricky say next, and who will he offend." I hope Ricky hosts again next year, if not, I'm not watching.
