The Eminem Chrysler spot was my absolute fave. I am a commercial producer and we were talking about it at work this morning and my boss missed it because it didn't look like a commercial. I thought it was shot, edited and written very well.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Darth Vader one (and the other VW one with the beetle).
I DID also like the budweiser/tiny dancer one.
Best Buy did make me chuckle. I don't get the Beiber fever (not 12 nor do I have kids) but I liked that he could poke fun at himself.
I thought the DV was so cute I also could not stop laughing at the Joan Rivers go daddy girl contest one, lol she look HOT lol
ReplyDeleteYou missed the best one. The Pepsi Max commercial where the woman throws the can at her husband, misses & hits the woman he was checking out. I about fell off the couch laughing.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Darth Vader commercial, too.
NFL TV nostalgia one was the best!
ReplyDeleteThe VW was my absolute fave!! I have a little Vader at home...I can relate
ReplyDeleteLoved Darth Vader. It was adorable, didn't offend anyone and was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI grew up near Detroit. That commercial is awesome. Even if Chrysler is owned by Fiat. It was smart, and didn't shy away from the hard truths.
ReplyDeleteVader was cute too.
How about that Groupon commercial? If you're going to be offensive, at least be funny. That commercial was offensive and UNfunny.
Darth Vader was my favorite, too. Maybe it's cause my kids tried using the Force when they were little. Ozzy insulting the Biebs was priceless.
ReplyDeleteAll in all I thought the commercials kinda sucked this year.
I don't have sound at work and stupid CRTC replaces a lot of the cool commercials during the Superbowl with Canadian ones, but I will say this: Mmmmm Eminem.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think the Doritoes one with the dog was good at all. You knew how it was going to end as soon as it began, which kind of defeats the purpose. Loved the other ones mentioned, as well as the Bud/Tiny Dancer one, but I think the Audi/prison one was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteDarth was the best. I also loved that it was never specified if the child was a girl or a boy. It could have been either.
ReplyDeleteIt's what an ad should be: clever, memorable and original.
I love, love, love the Darth Vader one!
ReplyDeleteVon, there was an article about the little boy in the Darth Vader ad in today's Orange County Register. He is six and has a congenital heart defect. Very cute child, nice little story.

Pepsi One Bling Date was great...she's wondering if he wants kids and how much he makes and he is just thinking "I want to sleep with her I want to sleep with her I want to sleep with her..." Also loved the test baby one. Wierd, but I'm into that kind of humor.
ReplyDeleteI thought that Pepsi Max commercial was pretty offensive. Apparently it's fine for a woman to regularly beat up her husband.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen most (I think I watched about 10 min total of the game) but that Darth Vader one is the CUTEST!!! Love it! That look that the Mom gives the little Vader with the sandwich is my favorite look to give my kids :D
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, why am I crying over the Chrysler commercial? I am such a superfreak.
ReplyDeleteThe slow motion pug running had us all laughing at our house. We're former pug owners and have seen 'that look' many times!
ReplyDeleteLoved the Eminem commercial - loved it. It made me choke up and I'm not from Detroit. I also loved the DV commercial, that kid was awesome.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Tiny Dancer and I thought the rich people prison was pretty hysterical (especially when Kenny G was used to sedate people).
I hate that the Steelers lost. BOOO!!!
I wish I drove so I could buy a Chrysler. Excellence.
ReplyDeleteI went to college in Michigan and all my friends from back in the day were posting on Facebook the Eminem/Chrysler commercial, saying it brought a tear to their eye, or made them proud, or realize that they still felt something for the city. Really something. Nice nice nice commercial, excellent. As for me, it gave me shivers.
ReplyDeleteI loved the old folks at the prison and when Kenny G popped up at the end we all cracked up.
ReplyDeleteI thought the majority of the commercials were very good this year. Darth Vader, Joan Rivers, etc., but I have to agree with the comments about the Detroit/Eminem commercial. That was very well done.
Re Detroit Commercial: Isn't Kid Rock from up there? Prolly kicking himself in the ass.
ReplyDeleteKid Rock is from near Howell, north of Detroit. His dad owns a Ford Dealership so that would've been awkward
ReplyDeleteScoot over there, Chihuahuense -- it made me teary, too. I'm from St. Louis, and my dad was an auto worker, albeit for GM, and plenty of people here got hit hard by the collapse of the auto industry (most recently by the closing of two Chrysler plants). I'd love to see Detroit enjoy a resurgence.
