Charlie Sheen vs Britney Spears

I used to think that no celebrity would ever manage to reach the sacred spot that Britney Spears reached several years ago. I did not think anyone could melt down in a more dramatic way. You have to admit that it was going to be tough to beat shaving off your head, checking into several different hotels each day, the ambulance rides, and just the car wreck like quality of watching all that hard earned work going into one big meltdown.

Charlie Sheen may have topped Britney though. What you have is a guy who worked a few months a year and made about $50M for his efforts and he is throwing it all away. That alone should put him on almost equal level with Britney. Charlie will never earn that kind of money again. Will not even come close. Plus, the way he is going about all of this is just further burying him in a hole. As much money as Charlie has made over the past several years, I would not be shocked if he blows it all. Maybe not bankrupt blows it all, but very close.

Yesterday, Charlie went on an anti-Semitic rant against Chuck Lorre. He also said that Chuck was crap and that it was only Charlie's stellar acting skills that made the show work. Charlie has also said that he is going to have his own show on HBO, is making another Major League and that Brooke has left the foursome. Oh, and Charlie has also decided that AA is for losers because they only have a 5% success rate and Charlie says he succeeds 100% of the time. Uh yeah.

Here is my prediction. If Charlie Sheen is not in a real rehab in a month, he will be dead or seriously impaired forever.

  1. He's finished as far as I'm concerned...and I will question the judgement of anyone who hires him...What a fool.

  2. Have his teeth been photoshopped?

  3. Now Charlie tells TMZ ... "I was referring to Chuck by his real name, because I wanted to address the man, not the bulls**t TV persona."

FYI -- Chuck's birth name is Charles Levine ... and Chaim is the Hebrew equivalent of the name Charles.

Charlie added, "So you're telling me, anytime someone calls me Carlos Estevez, I can claim they are anti-Latino?"

I gotta say it, he is a crazy addicted person, but he almost always has good points....

  4. This is just sad. He has more than most people and he's throwing it all away. And for what? What does he really get from the drug use and prostitutes? A few minutes of happiness followed by pure misery?

Even if they do another season of the show, it seems unlikely Charlie will make it that far.

  5. He forgot how hard he had to suck ass to get sitcom roles.

He is completly over the edge now from his interviews. He assumed CBS/Lorre would take whatever shit he gave them.

CBS should of manned up completely and canceled the series instead of jut the last 8 episodes. Which at least puts Charlie out 16 million.

Good luck Charlie in getting your "fans" to march on the CBS lot in protest. Now that I would love to see.

  6. I wonder if he was ever diagnosed as bipolar. He is definitely in a manic state at the moment. This is very typical behavior of patients with mania. I also wonder if this was further "enhanced" by his drug use. Probably.

  8. It sure seems like he's having a psychotic break.

Does anyone remember when his car was stolen (from a gated compound, no less) and driven off a cliff, not once, but twice? Considering everything that has happened since then, it's kind of hard to believe that he (or his 'lady friends') had no part in that.

  9. yeah, I am starting to believe he is BiPolar as well. this rant of his is epic!

  10. Charlie has clearly had a mental breakdown of epic proportions and though most of it is of his own doing Chuck Lorre, CBS and Warner Bro. played their part in this as they allowed the behavior to go on for as long as it did. They could have long ago put the kibosh on him and his antics behind the scenes before any of it came to the light of day but because he was making them butt loads of money they turned a blind eye to everything he was doing.
If he doesn't get clean he will be dead, and that is all there is to it. He is clearly in a destructive place right now and I don't see him changing his ways anytime. He is definitely one that should be on the celebrity death watch list because I don't see him lasting much longer.

I am reading on other sites that a 5150 Psych Hold and a Conservatorship are on there way. They are also saying that he is Bi-Polar, not just an addict. This explains so much about what is going on, especially right now. He is on a Mania High.

  18. This whole meltdown has been epic.
First of all, kudos to the network and creator for calling it a day. To continue to accept that kind of shit and shit talk would have been a horrible example.
Second, well done, Charlie. I'm sure the rest of the cast and crew is incredibly impressed by your stand against the great oppressor. Seriously?? You're an ass.
Third, this guy has been making a shit ton of cash for years. With two ex-wives and a lifestyle that involves cocaine and high-priced hookers, what money he has left won't last long. This is only going to get uglier.
    Popcorn, anyone?

  19. I don't think Charlie had a morals clause in his contract, so CBS and Warner Bros. had their hands tied. Charlie has now gone so far over the edge that they can do something.

Charlie may be bipolar, but he's also a nasty character. He's letting it all hang out now. Too bad. And, I don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Remember Brett Butler? Same thing happened to her working for the same people. Something here is more wrong than Charlie's drugging and ho-ing. Sure, it's choices, but come on. This should have ended awhile ago.

  21. I just feel bad for the cast and crew of that show. Having your livelyhood depending on this insane guy? Horrible.

Do you think they can replace him on the show? I never watch it cause it is just so bad...

  23. Ha, Mookshi! You are funny!

Charlie is an ass of epic proportion - he just cost the crew a lot of money. Think about all the unknowns (forget the actors) - they all just lost their jobs and their livelihoods. It sucks majorly.

I feel like even if he is bipolar and he's in a deeply manic cycle, CBS and the producers should have intervened earlier. I know Lorre tried to address it in his vanity cards (I NEVER watch that show because it is so, so, so, so badly written), but CBS should have done something. He may not have a morality clause, but they could have fired him for a host of other reasons. Give the crew at least notice to find other jobs. This situation is horrible. He is a massive douche with an ego the size of China. I feel really badly for his family. Maybe a 5150 would be the best thing for him - could they then force him to take medicine? I think they would need a judge to declare him incompetent then he could be forced... Anyone know?

  24. He's a mental case.

  25. This makes me sad, not for Charlie but for my hubby & me. It was our only sitcom that we watched together ... I will miss our weekly 'couch' time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. With so many new shows in production in LA, I suspect CBS and Warner Bros. are busy finding new places for the crew, even if it means with other networks.

They could always write Charlie out of the show and rename it "Two Men".

  27. You know what, though? I was mesmerized by the Britney meltdown, but I also found it deeply troubling and incredibly sad. At the time, I just saw a young woman going through horrible addictions, paranoia, and mental anguish in front of EVERYone. I never got the feeling that she disregarded her children, or that she was too arrogant to care about her fans.

Charlie Sheen, however, is an narcissistic fucktard who loves having an audience -- even if that audience thinks he's a talentless idiot. He'll probably die amid a gigantic pile of coke and hookers, and I can honestly say that I won't be sad about it. I was worried about Britney, but I couldn't give two fucks about Charlie.

And he's ALSO, what, TWICE as old as Britney when she had her meltdown? I'd think that he'd have accumulated a smidgen of wisdom, but apparently not.

  28. I feel so bad for his kids. If he hasn't been stripped of his parental rights yet, he should be. I also feel for his family. How awful for them. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up dead before Easter.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I feel bad for his kids as well, and I sincerely hope that the burden of supporting doesn't fall on all of us during their lifetimes. I cannot see a bright future for them condsidering their parents, but maybe there is hope if the grandparents all step in. What a mess.

I don't care about Charlie Sheen at all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. it's time for the 5150. Martin, where are you?

  31. I could only get through about half of the radio interview yesterday before I had to turn it off, disgusted.

For anyone else wanting to defend him (not so much on here as just his "loyal followers" in general), I would think this would be the final nail in the coffin.

I don't care if he has an addiction or not. He's an asshole.

Enjoy your "goddesses", Charlie, you're finished.

  32. I used to watch the show - was the only sitcom hubby would watch. - Until this season that is which has been the worst crude lewd writing I have ever seen in primetime. - Both me and hubby tuned out - I really do not care what happens to Charlie - he is one nasty self absorbed loser !

  33. @_-_=_ I didn't remember her until I googled her name, did she go batshit crazy, too?

  34. I agree with Priscilla, actually. I didn't find the rant anti-semitic; he was calling Chuck by his given hebrew name (not always same as birth certificate name), and that's not anti-jewish. His derogatory tone was against his hatred of the man, not his religion or culture. Sheen may be off the ricter mentally, but I think CBS / Warner Bros was in the wrong for what they did. Charlie does not have a morality clause, it is a show based on his own person and making loads of money off of it. Charlie never came to work late as a result of his drugging /ho'ing, and he never came to work intoxicated. CBS / Warner Bros made this personal, after exploiting who Charlie really is for YEARS on that show for their own gain, putting so many innocent people out of work without any notice. That's such BS. Hate Charlie all you want, but he's just being Charlie, same as always. He's undoubtedly manic depressive, he's been taken advantage of by so many people, and he's an addict. He needs help, not exploitation.

  35. Um, we do not know the various aspects of his contract. Whatever happened in the last few days means that CBS and their lawyers feel fully in their rights to not only stop production but inform Sheen he will NOT get paid for the cancelled episodes. Of the people posting here, CBS or Sheen, the only one party who has the contract AND has looked into is CBS.

As for that never going to work intoxicated thing, that is Charlie's claim, you know the man who claimed to have an HBO series paying him millions an episode. Mind you that probably also means that we can't take his word that he went to work impaired enough that he had to search for furniture to lean against as he wasn't able to remain upright.

I think they are still trying to find a way to salvage the series, and if they come up with one without Sheen he will be out.

  36. I guess it's not surprising that a guy taking that many drugs would be kind of a psycho, right?

  37. I'm certainly not pro-Charlie, but those vanity cards should be posted in the dictionary under "passive aggressive."

  39. So it seems CBS has canceled this series. Rightfully so, I think. They have the power to cancel any series they want. It might be easier than "replacing" him and them firing him given no moral clause in his contract. I would have liked to see them bring in someone else. John Stamos or Rob Lowe come to mind. There are actors that would save the show. They could have done a Bewitched or a Becky on Roseanne ...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Who knew Denise Richards would come out looking like the sane one?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I like many of the show's episodes, don't know about the new ones since I watch them on dvd. I don't really care about his personal life but I agree he's having a manic episode. He's charismatic, but like most actors (Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman) you either like watching him or you hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I can't jump on him. He sounds seriously troubled, and is probably in a manic state right now. The guy needs help. He looks like he's pushing 60. The drugs are killing him, and although my first instinct is to pop some popcorn, sit back and enjoy, I just can't. This is too sad. :(

    ReplyDelete
  43. i don't think he's having a manic episode; while i know that bipolar can be comorbid with addition, i think we're seeing what heavy drinking and drugging will do to you and your mental capacity. using the diagnosis of bipolar i think is why so many people don't get treated for their real problem-addiction. i don't know if it's because bipolar being a medical/mental illness sounds better than having an addiction problem, but he's an addict and displays those tendencies. hopefully people will stop kowtowing to him and this will have some sort of effect on him.

  44. Oh God it was grotesquely anti-Semitic. That is all.

  45. Well said Alison!

  46. I totally agree with Amy (& Enty).

Chuck Lorre's given name is Charles (Levine), not Chaim. Chaim is Hebrew for Charles. By invoking his Hebrew name, Charlie is, without a doubt, taking a dig at his heritage. Lots of people in the film industry change their names. But Chuck Lorre never went by the name "Chaim."

Priscilla said "FYI -- Chuck's birth name is Charles Levine ... and Chaim is the Hebrew equivalent of the name Charles. Charlie added, "So you're telling me, anytime someone calls me Carlos Estevez, I can claim they are anti-Latino?"

Actually Priscilla, Charlie referring to Chuck as "Charles" would be the equivalent to someone calling Charlie "Carlos." Those are their birth names - Chaim is not. And I think it's fair to say that when Charlie chose to say what he said, in a very ugly and demeaning way, his intent was clear. You also don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Clean or not, there's no disputing that he is on a downward spiral. And the truth is, prior to this, Charlie has never really had to pay the price for his outrageous behavior. He's physically hurt many women, trashed hotel rooms, gone on endless benders. And now it's come back to bite him. It's about time.

  49. Since this site is for gossip, here's another perspective straight from a Hollywood horse's mouth: http://twitchfilm.com/news/2011/02/newsflash-addicts-do-stupid-shit.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TwitchEverything+%28Twitch%3A+Everything%29

I do think it's interesting that no one seems to be painting Chuck Lorre as anything but a long suffering martyr. The stories I've heard over the past two decades always indicated he was incredibly destructive to his employees, and before these Sheen incidents and the monetary value of 2 1/2 Men he did not have a good Hollywood reputation.

Then again, to play devil's advocate to my own info, I'm a quarter Jewish (by blood only which would have been sufficient to get me killed in a concentration camp). I have been shocked at how many times people in the business have made Anti-Semitic remarks to me assuming I was on their side. Quit one job over it after working two years for the woman; she had no idea of my heritage and it was the first time I'd ever heard her true POV. Disgusting. There is covert hostility toward the Jewish community out here, despite (and/or because of?) how many power positions they hold.

Guess I'm just saying, it's probably a pretty complicated and juicy story that the amazing sleuths on this site might want to dig deeper into...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Chuck Lorre does not have the greatest repuation. He was fired from Cybill and Grace Under Fire bad writing. Maybe Charlie is right about that. What little I have seen of that show was pretty bad. Only Charlie and Cryer saved it.

Jon Cryer has only said positive things about Charlie.

  52. I am slightly late on the Charlie Sheen rant. Jewish people are given a Hebrew name to honor a close relative who has passed away. Most people, except for the Orthodox, go by the English version of that name, and use the Hebrew name for religious purposes. However, it is also used as a term of affection and closeness. My father always called me by my Hebrew name, and my husband also likes to use it. The way Charlie Sheen spewed out "Chaim" was clearly as a sign of disrespect and an attempt at showing disgust. Chuck Lorre clearly does not use that name in business, so there was no other reason to use it.
