At Least We Will Find Out If Miley Is Funny

Saturday Night Live has broken down. Not only are they going to let Chris Brown perform this weekend, but now they have gone and invited Miley Cyrus to host. Unlike some musical guests, she will not be singing which is great for the world, but they are going to let her have 90 minutes to show whether she is funny. Just off the top of my head, I have found that musicians tend to be much better hosts than lots of actors. I don't know if it is because we expect less, or if they are used to thinking on their feet but they are generally good.

I expect a lot of gum chewing, tattoo sketches and Miley spending a lot of time as close to naked as SNL can get away with. In my mind I am banning the show for the next few weeks because of their Chris Brown decision. Maybe, just maybe I will give them a chance when Miley hosts. I think a scene where she has sex with Mickey Mouse could be fun too.

  1. I'm disgusted that Chris Brown is on the welcome back to fame and money train.

Russell Brand is a douchebag to host with him on the show.

ugh Miley well at least it will make the Miley Cyrus show skit interesting.

  2. I won't watch either Chris Brown or Miley. Shame about Brown though, cause I would have watched Brand for sure. I wonder how hard Brown's people had to work to get him that gig.

  3. Hmmm.... definitely telling my DVR to skip this one. Disappointing. Especially after last weeks hilarious come-back of Dana Carvey.

  4. Musical guest I suppose but she is not a musician.

  5. OK, don't bash me too hard people, BUT, when my daughter was 11 or so (she's 14 now) I watched Hannah Montana a little with her and Miley actually has some good comedic timing. Not a fan or anything, just sayin'.
    We'll see I guess.

  7. I think she'll do a good job. She's goofy and over-the-top and that has SNL written all over it. I'd watch just to see a "that's so cool" Miley sketch.

  9. SNL is having its worst season in history, might as well keep flushing.

  10. I have a kiddo as well & I've been subjected to Hanna Montana over the years. The scouring pad voice and horse grill work very well for comedy. I'll love to see if they incorporate her into the "Miley Cyrus Show" skit. Heck, even Britney Spears did exceptionally great as a host (probably because the expectations were limbo-low)

  11. Meir, I can't wait for that skit, either. Hopefully she does have a sense of humour with herself. I bet they won't do any salvia skits, though.

I'm bummed Russell is paired with Chris Brown. Not watching either. If skits from that show are posted on youtube and they don't involve CB, I'll watch if I come across them.

  12. Isn't it funny that Russell Brand is paired with Chris Brown and Katy Perry and Rihanna are best friends (supposedly).

  13. I never saw the appeal of Russell Brand but man if I didn't find him weirdly hot in Get Him to the Greek and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so I'll check it out. I'll just FF through the CB stuff.

I take a moral stance on many things, but I think RB will bring the funny and I want to see that.

I HOPE like hell they get Miley to host the Miley show. AND I do hope they do a salvia skit!

  17. @ Babydoll, I thought the exact same thing. Wonder what's up with all that.

Speaking of what's up with that, that is thee worst skit ever. Ever.

  18. Hm. I have a friend that occasionally works SNL, I'll have to see if he's on that week and pump for behind the scenes info.

  19. Ok so I haven't read all of the comments yet, but I think that Miley will actually surprise a lot of people. I am not a fan, however I do see natural raw talent. Kind of reminds me of a another Disney girl..a cute young ginger thing...

  20. I watch SNL most Saturday nights and fell asleep on the Dana Carvey show. I though it would be great but it was Snoozeapalooza 2011.

I haven't been following Chris Brown since the original Rihanna debacle. Is he sorry? Has he hit another woman? If he's been behaving, then I see no reason to still boycott him.
