Padma's Baby Daddy Gets Legal
I really thought the father of Padma Lakshmi's baby would just go away without doing anything. Adam Dell, who is the brother of the founder of Dell Computers, filed some papers in court to get custody of the child he and Padma had together. What he should be doing is helping his brother fix those awful computers. I really do not know how Dell stays in business. Have you ever known anyone who bought a Dell and then said they would buy another one? Oh, and did that Dell commercial guy ever get his life straight? Those were good commercials.
Anyway, Adam Dell wants full custody because Padma is not responding to his pleas to spend more time with their child. So, what will happen is the two lawyers will make a lot of money and argue and shuffle paper back and forth and when they have earned their money the two sides will get together and hammer out an agreement regarding more visitation in about five minutes.
Right now Adam only gets 7 hours a week and to see their baby last week Adam had to fly to the Bahamas because that is where Padma was filming. That is a dad who wants to see their kid.
Obviously I don't know the whole story, but I've got to give the guy credit - he got a baby he wasn't expecting and he wants to be part of her life. Momma's been keeping them apart since day 1. I get she didn't pick him to be dad but that's the way it worked out. I hope he gets more time with the baby.
ReplyDeleteI have heard Padman talk about how not having a father in her life really affected her. In fact, I think that is why she tends to date older men (looking for that father substitute) so why would you want to impose such a potentially harmful situation upon your daughter. I heard that at first dell was supposed to be a sperm donor and that he reneged on the deal and wants to be an active father. Let him be a father to his child. I know so many single mothers that wish their baby daddies would be more involved in their child lives.
ReplyDeleteMacs are indeed best! But Toshiba notepads are good.
ReplyDeleteSince she selected a rich daddy for her baby....and he knew the child was his....she's going to have to give in...he has the means to fight her...
ReplyDeleteY'know, as a single mom, I understand the fathers we're not with can be irritating - but isn't a large part of our job as mothers to help preserve that relationship anyway, for the benefit of our kids' emotional health, our own pride be damned? Yeah....I thought so...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I went to college with Ben "the Dell Dude" Curtis and there was never anything wrong with him besides getting caught buying pot (ok, dumb) like a thousand other NYU students were simultaneously doing. (Actually someone must have forgotten to clue him in about the delivery service.) Easy target. That was too bad.
I don't know all the facts to this story, but one thing I do know is that you have to choose carefully who you conceive a child with. It seems that this man wants to be a part of the baby's life. It takes two people to conceive, not one. If you want a child for yourself without the other party involved, then either adopt or use a sperm bank.
ReplyDeleteThis is just sad. Sounds like Padma is keeping her daughter away from her father for personal reasons, which is not looking out for the child's best interest. Of course, we don't know the facts, but if the guy wants to be more involved, I gotta give him credit.
ReplyDeletewow, only 7 hours? that's sad. i can't hate on him for wanting to be a dad. i wonder what the back story is? darn pc people and their drama.
ReplyDeleteWhat, Padma's a selfish narcissist who is more concerned with her own convenience than her baby's happiness? I never would have guessed! /sarcasm
ReplyDeleteI hope for the baby's sake they come to an agreement soon.
ReplyDeleteI wish Tom was really the father.
ReplyDelete@Mooshki,
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the exact same thing. I've said it before...I like her less and less as time goes on.
I would also like to add that, as Borg Queen mentioned, she may be dating older men due to father figure issues. However, they also convenintly happen to have $$$. It's not like she's dating an older accountant or construction worker or some other gentleman with modest means.
@redsiren: I agree!
ReplyDeleteAnd, sorry, Enty, but I have two Dells (laptop and PC) and I love them! Never had any issue with them other than stupid stuff that I did, like spilling water on the keyboard.
Re: Dell
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a software engineer. We have bought many Dell computers over the years, with few issues.
They aren't Macs, but if they were, they'd be useless to my husband. (Of course, then he wouldn't have to be 'tech support' for most of our family.)
Re: Padma/Adam custody
She's an idiot for not sitting down and at least trying to work this out.
Although I love the Top Chef shows she sometimes comes across as a total b*tch, so I could see her doing whatever she wants without regard to the dad. Unless he is abusive, etc., he has rights to see his daughter and he should be involved. I know too many women where the dad is not around and could care less about the kids.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is also a Software Engineer and loves his Dell computer, and it's funny that he is our families fix it guy with our other computers too!
she's just mad that she slept with and got pregnant by the wrong Dell brother. Ya know she thought this one had the company and the money. She must have been furious when she found out it was his brother's company. Kudos to him for trying to be a good dad.
ReplyDeleteI've had several Dell computers over the years and have loved them. I had a problem once, and they sent a tech to my house to fix the problem. So I have nothing but good things to say about Dell.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree about the Dells -- I've used only Dell for years and wouldn't have a Mac if you gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand mothers that use their children as pawns -- just pisses me right off.
It's sad that he has to do this, but it will be better to have a court set the rules not Padma. I imagine the limited hours were arranged when the baby was an infant and still breastfeeding? The kid is about to turn one, so more lengthy visitation shouldn't be a problem now.
ReplyDeleteTyping this on a Dell I bought way back in 2003. Still runs great.
My dad's a consultant who installs computer networks. He doesn't like Dells but if you want a good quality inexpensive computer, he'd recommend an Acer (and to always buy an extended warranty).
ReplyDeleteAs for this story - lucky little girl that her dad will fight so hard to get to spend more time with her. Is Padma trying to make her daughter bitter against her?
@redsiren, totally agree!
ReplyDeleteAs for Padma, she might be a little damaged produce, but I still like her.
I hate to jinx myself but Dells are cheap decent computers. Im sure I would buy something better if my budget allowed but it wouldnt be a mac.
ReplyDeleteWhat is her problem??
ReplyDeleteI bought my first Dell in 1998 & that sucker lasted me for 10 years with very few issues. They also gave AMAZING tech support. When it was time to buy a new one, I bought both a desktop & a laptop from Dell. Within one year, they both had issues. The motherboard blew on one & I had to end up having one completely rebuilt. The warranty was crap & I have spent more getting them both fixed in the last several years that I pad for the one. Dell is simply NOT what it used to be. But they are cheap & they do finane.
I'm into graphic/web design so I would much prefer a Mac but I don't have $3k to shell out right now. :(
I'm on my 2nd Dell. And I love it :-)
ReplyDeleteTeam Dell.
ReplyDeleteNot Team Padma.
This isn't surprising. Unless there is some secret stuff in his background, he will get more visitation time with the child.
ReplyDeleteTeam Dell. Even bought a Dell 42 Plasma when they entered (since left) the market. My Fortune 5 company is Dell.
ReplyDeleteGreat Tech support, on site if you pay the extended plan (this is the ONLY extended support I buy for tech. all the rest are scams - best buy, etc.).
I will never own an Apple product.
So much Apple crank around here! I don't get it. I actually have Dells & Macs. My Dells are fine-ish...but my Macs are glorious! *shrug*
ReplyDeleteI never liked Padma. Salmun Rushdie (her ex) has nothing nice to say about her either. He basically said she was cold and everything had to be her way. She has the personality of wet paint. Boring.
ReplyDeleteRE Dell:
ReplyDeleteI have owned a Dell laptop and a CPU. The laptop, right out of the box had a motherboard issue. They sent a replacement, but after a year the monitor quit working. Their idea of support was for me to order a new monitor for $$$ and they were going to talk me through installing it over the phone. No thanks, I'll just get a new laptop. My HP has been so much better than the Dell ever was.
The CPU lasted a little longer, but no longer works.
I don't see myself buying another Dell.
