Live To Dance Not Long For This World
The premiere of Paula Abdul's new show, Live To Dance started off fairly well on Tuesday night. Not great, but good. People seemed like they were willing to give the premise and Paula a chance. Well, they must have only wanted to give her one chance because the show tanked on Wednesday night and barely, by the skin of a vodka being sipped from a red plastic Coke glass managed to hold on to third place for the hour. Yep, when the second episode of your show almost can't beat the CW, then you know you are not long for this world.
There is nothing wrong with her new show, it is just that it has been done before and there is nothing really special about it either. I wanted Paula to succeed because I still feel bad about her decision to walk away from all that money thinking she was going to find fame and fortune somewhere else. She had not got it anywhere else between the end of her recording career and Idol so I don't know what made her think she was going to get it somewhere else.
That is the problem, it has all been done before. It is not a bad show, just kinda boring. Even though the ballet couple was great.
ReplyDeletePaula shouldn't have left Idol, you don't bite the overly tanned british hand that feeds you
There are only 3 dates showing for taping....
ReplyDeleteIt may die a quick death.
Agree, Enty. When I first heard about this show, I thought, "Ugh, ANOTHER dance show? Enough." Not to mention it's got crazy, sappy Paula, who was the reason I couldn't stand American Idol.
ReplyDeleteEnty, I'd say that thinking isn't Paula's homerun swing.
ReplyDeletei don't want to see her show fail...but come on. enough w/ the delusions already. she's cute and likeable, but truly off-kilter if she thought she'd surpass the amount of bank AI brought her.
ReplyDeleteI think Paula will join Simon on the X Factor.
ReplyDeletePlus it looks like she got off of whatever drugs made her so loopy.
Sober Paula isn't a fun Paula.
No surprise here.
ReplyDeleteNext!
Didn't she only walk away from Idol because they weren't willing to pay her the $5-10 million she asked for and then they turn around and give JLO a huge salary?
ReplyDeletewhy would anyone feel bad for paula????
ReplyDeleteShe's loaded. But it's sad because she is IMMENSELY TALENTED!
ReplyDeleteI, for one, had no idea she had a new show starting this week.
ReplyDeleteI was kinda pissed off that I couldn't get my weekly dose of NCIS.
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely off the pills/booze/whatever. Shame, because she's very competent on camera now. Plus I like the fact she told an 11 year-old she shouldn't be wearing so much makeup.
ReplyDeleteI like this Paula so much more.
The concept is so been there, done that. So is Idol. The money she made with Idol along with the fame put her back on the map. Her goofy behavior was actually part of the appeal, sadly.

ReplyDeleteOddly enough, this type of show is a better fit for her. She is a very talented dancer/choreographer and is capable of judging that, whereas her judging singing was just stupid. It is too bad she missed the train on the dance shows.
ReplyDeleteThey are really pushing this show here in Australia. It's been "fast tracked" from the US. I'm guessing the networks are regretting that decision right about now!
