Joseph Brooks' Son Involved In Murder Case

This is one effed up family. Do you remember last year when I wrote about Joseph Brooks? He is the guy who wrote You Light Up My Life and won an Academy Award for it. He is also sitting in jail awaiting trial for 91 counts ranging from sexual assault to rape in what is probably the biggest casting couch crime of the past ten years. Anyway, this morning, police in New York found a body of a woman who was fully clothed and sitting in a hotel room bathtub. It appears the woman had been strangled to death and the person who checked into the room was Brooks' son.

Witnesses from the room next door said, they heard a woman screaming, "Stop. Please don't do it." The witnesses thought it was just people having a good time. Huh? Seriously? Well, I bet they wish now they had called the police. Instead, the body was found by a maid. The police have still not talked to the son as there was no one else in the room at the time of the discovery.

  1. I can beleive pervs have messed up families. Can't wait for the tell all about Woody Allen from one of his kids. I wonder how Polanski's karma is gonna pass down to his offspring.

A few months ago my husband and I were staying at a nice hotel for the weekend. It must have been like 1 or 2 am when we heard the people next door fighting. I think the guy was eyeing too many ladies lol. Anyway I told my husband if I hear any hitting I am going to call security.

  3. The dad is not sitting in jail Enty.

    From the Post article:
"Stepping out of his apartment this morning, the elder Brooks was asked if he knew his son was in trouble.

"I did," he told The Post, without elaborating."

  6. Why?! Why do people just assume screams for help are nothing to be concerned about?! The lives that could have been saved! I wonder if this lady or the one who was murdered by her Survivor producer (?) husband would still be alive if they would have yelled "fire" instead of "help" or "don't do it!". I hope if I'm ever assaulted I remember to scream FIRE or that there is a concerned citizen near by. Un-f*cking-believable! I would be so guilt ridden if I had been these women's neighbors and did nothing. I'm sick of people! 2012 can't come soon enough. This coming from a person who has a lot of love for humanity... sigh...

  7. I 100% agree with you Steph. If the people who had heard the screams of the producers wife in the mexican hotel had done something she might be alive. If the people that heard a fight in the cabin of the crusie ship were the newlywed was thrown over board. He would still be alive.

People need to get over "i don't want to get involved" buLlshit excuse. GET INVOLVED! IT COULD SAVE A LIFE.

  8. @ Steph & timebob - one word...lawsuits. That's why people don't intervene.

  9. We are so de-sensitized to violence against women and children that I'm not surprised nobody calls police. You can call anonymously so I don't really think lawsuits are an issue. Tell me the last time you saw a TV crime drama that didn't include violence against women or children. Tell me!

  10. You Light Up My Life as in the one that Debbie Boone sang????

    91 counts??

From another article i read, it sounds like he was trying to set it up to look like a suicide. Not a bright one, that guy.
