Jillian Michaels Leaving Biggest Loser To Have Babies
Earlier this week, Jillian Michaels announced that the upcoming season of Biggest Loser will be her last. Apparently she wanted to leave sooner but the producers wanted to make sure she fulfilled her entire contract which runs out after season 11. I can't believe there have been that many seasons of the show. I have not really watched the past few seasons that much. Do they ever update how people are doing from the earlier seasons? I would be interested to see how many of the contestants have managed to keep all their weight off.
Anyway, Jillian explained that she is leaving the show because she wants to take a year off and have kids. "I want to take a year off TV and focus on becoming a mommy and doing more charity work." I think she wants some time to try and repair her image which has taken a huge nose dive in the past year with all of the controversies about whether she is a good trainer and also about all those lawsuits involving products she endorses. My prediction is that a year from now, she will have done some charity work, lined up a new show and will still have no children.
Those would be some messed up kids.
ReplyDeleteShe is a scay, scary woman.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch that show because of her.
11 seasons? i've never watched this show...i'm kinda impressed i've let 11 seasons go by. from what i hear tho, i'm not missing much.
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit cynical, even for you, Enty ;)
ReplyDeleteI read an interview with her recently where she was also talking about children - I think she means it.
This show is one of my guiltier pleasures for sure. Yes, they do take an entire episode each season to do a "Where are they now" feature.
ReplyDeleteWhat Biggirl said. . .she scares me, too.
ReplyDeleteI just read that's she's working with a home placement agency and two adoption agencies to adopt (first) an African child and then an American child.
ReplyDeleteI thought she said a while back that she didn't want kids?
ReplyDeleteYes, Ent, they do updates of former contestants.
I've watched almost every episode and cry every time. This season has been pretty good.
I like Jillian okay, but her overdramatic psychoanalysis gets old.

ReplyDeletecalifblondy she did say that in Women's Health magazine. She said she didn't like how your body looked after having a child.
ReplyDelete*cough* Bullshit! *cough*
ReplyDeleteThis one is cray cray!

ReplyDeleteSays she can't have children of her own. Maybe that's why she made the negative comments about what having children does to your body.
I can understand her wanting to quit. If all television shows is your bitchy side, wouldn't you want a break from it, too? It's as if reality television thrives on the archetype of abusive relationships. I can believe there are hours of supportive conversation that end up on the cutting room floor in favor of a few seconds of screaming, crying and puking.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I have watched a few episodes of The Biggest Loser this season. I'm really rooting for Ada, just because I want her to be able to rise above all of that crap her father gives her.
i have never ever watched that show because she scares me! i feel bad for any kids she has because they will have to listen to her weird voice...
ReplyDeleteI like Ada too. I cried the night that everyone but Ada had a video from home. I'm glad she's been so strong. She obviously believes in herself even though her family might not have believed in her. The guilt she was given when her siblings died was so unfair.
ReplyDeleteJillian isn't yelling 100% of the time. She can be nurturing.
I *love* Ada, I'm really rooting for her.
ReplyDeleteI love Jillian too! I don't really get that hate at all. She's a great trainer, I'm totally addicted to her videos, and she's helped a lot of people. I assumed she was leaving because she's gotten to be a big start, but if she wants a baby, great for her!
Oh, and they did bring together all the winners a couple weeks ago. The first season winner has gained back minus 10 lbs. The others had more or less kept most of the weight off.
ReplyDeleteThey do, what, 2 or 3 "seasons" per year? I think 3, because I think they do a summer season. I could be wrong, though, I don't watch the show. I'm just going by how often the goddamn commercials are on.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she's going to need her giant entourage with her for parenting?
My friends mom Tina Elliot was just on this years episodes and she is doing great still and her daughter ( not my friend ) lost 83 lbs so far as well!
ReplyDeleteI read on E! that she has PCOS & endometriosis (sp?) which is why she can't have bio kids. I know plenty of women with those conditions who have kids. I can only imagine she's tried before & can't get pregnant.
ReplyDeleteEither way, I'm ALL for adoption. I think it's a wonderful way to add to your family regardless of whether or not you can have bio kids.
You can't do all three? Most of the women I know who do charity work with me have children, they took regular maternity leave to have kids, so why can't you do all three things? If you are making an excuse at least use one that makes sense. I don't blame her for being sick of doing what she's done, but she doesn't even film all year round!
ReplyDeleteShe is looking to adopt. I think she is genuine. I also think she's wanted to leave the show for a long time and focus on her own brand. If you listen to her podcasts, she complains about how the show sets up unrealistic expectations pretty frequently, like only showing her yelling and none of the hours of work the contestants put in. She's also been vocal about the dangerous challenges as well as the fact the contestants keep getting heavier. I don't know why, but I buy it.
ReplyDeleteI also think she does not want to try to get pregnant because she does not want to take synthetic hormones. I can respect that.
I love Jillian!!!
ReplyDeleteI was kind of surprised that she said she wanted kids since in the past she said she didn't but everyone is entitled to change their minds.
Also don't blame her for wanting to leave the show. 11 seasons is a long time. I don't think she needs the show anymore to be successful.
