Is Daniel Craig A Homewrecker?

Over the weekend, there were a few minutes when I caught up on some gossip and I saw that Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz had taken their relationship public. Holding hands over the holiday weekend will do that. Last month when Rachel split up with her long term boyfriend, it was suspected that Daniel had a part in it.

A topic of discussion was whether Daniel Craig was a homewrecker. If you have been engaged to someone for nine years, and have a child together but have never really taken that next step of marriage, are there other issues at play which kind of negate the homewrecking thing? Is it only homewrecking if you are married? Is it homewrecking if you are living together but don't have a child? Do you have to have a child? When is it considered homewrecking?

I am going to link to News Of The World because it is their photo, but they charge money now to read articles. Bastards.

  1. I assume there will be a post soon about Natalie Portman being pregnant and engaged, right?

  2. That's surprising right?!?

  3. She went along with it. Someone can't wreak your relationship - married or not - if there isn't a crack in it that allows one of the participants to take an interest in the homewrecker. You can't woo someone who isn't interested.

Tons of snow here in NJ but I have internet. Life is good.

  4. I've been reading that Aronofsky is "known" as a serial cheater and so this split was always coming. Anyone? And is Weiscz being called a homewrecker too? I haven't read that, and unless I've missed something, it's nice not to have only the woman excoriated. For once.

  6. It's weird he was always with his girlfriend...it looked solid, but true you never know whats going on inside a relationship...
They do make a pretty couple..

  7. Don't hate, but I thought the long-time gf of his was a beard.

  8. If you're engaged for 9 years, there is no real relationship. If you don't want to get married, why be engaged? And if you do want to get married, 9 years is a bit long. So this was a breakup waiting to happen. Rachel just hadn't found anyone worth it yet. Ditto for Daniel Craig and his long-term GF.

Clearly, they were both just marking time with their respective significant others til they actually fell in love.

  9. Agree, a breakup waiting to happen. Can't blame them for not getting married though. I don't see why anyone gets married any more. I certainly wouldn't. Well, maybe to Daniel Craig........

  10. I have more respect for people who don't get married when they feel it is not 100% right. And sometimes when 2 people are together too long marriage actually screws things up.

They are all low key people. I don't think it is something that was taken lightly. And out of respect denying the relationship at first seems like it wa the right thing to do.

  11. I think that two people can be together in a serious faithful relationship without the need to "formalize it" so the nine year engagement makes me wonder why even go there? it's ok to not get married but the engagement makes me think they wanted to get married but something wasn't there.

  13. They have always both struck me as low-key, non-attention seeking actors, which is rare, and both are also very good actors. I say good for them. 9 years is a ridiculous amount of time to be only engaged, especially if you have a child. I think she was smart not to marry someone whom she probably had doubts about. Good luck to both of them. He is yummy and I have always loved her.

  14. I have two friends, high school sweethearts, who are together after 35 years, no engagement, no marriage. It works for them, obviously.
If you get engaged, however, and then nine years pass...ya gotta wonder, what's the holdup?

  15. I liked her before she started spouting off about how stupid she found Americans. If you don't like it here, Rachel, get the fuck out.

  16. @jw12 - thanks for the sympathy

I'm sure Daniel is just misunderstood.

With my husband reading over my shoulder as I type, he told me that I can have my home wrecked by Daniel Craig... I'm betting he doesn't have a lot of confidence in me.

  17. If you're breaking up a couple who is living together, you're a homewrecker. However, I think that the real homewrecker is the person who decided to have an affair while claiming to be in a committed relationship.

  18. @Mango - most Americans know little about geography. I think she was teasing when she made the remark about her boyfriend at the time on Leno(Leno regularly runs those clips where people on the street are asked about certain locations and facts, and give ridiculous answers), but of course we Americans really hyper-senstive to criticism. And she lives in Britain, so telling her to "get the fuck out" of this country is slightly ridiculous.

  20. DC lives 3 minutes walking distance from me and i am THISCLOSE to stalking him, i swear. *swoon* idt he's of home-wrecking ilk...the one that looks bad here is rachel w., not him.

  21. Kellylynn -i TOTALLY agree!

My parents are engaged, been together for 30 years, 4 kids - also, they are the only ones in the extended family that are still together. Everyone else has been married and divorced at least twice.

  22. Thank GOD my scumbag ex is not a celebrity. If I'm Suki (I think that was his ex's name?) and I'm upset about the breakup with Daniel, it's gotta sting even more having to see these pics and hear about it in the press.

  23. While I think a 9 year engagement is beyond ridiculous, I think if someone is living with someone else, and one gets left, it's homewrecking, regardless. With or without children, homewrecking. But as a society we are apparently way past shame, because it seems married people who have left their spouses are also allowed to get engaged, which is ridiculous, too!

  24. Where is her kid when she's out holding hands with DC during the holidays?

  25. OMG ardleigh, a mother shouldn't have a date until her children have graduated college and are gainfully employed with their own homes? Maybe Henry was with his father that day. Or *GASP* a babysitter. God knows only the elites do things like hire a babysitter for the day. I've also heard of this super-secret club called "Day Care."

Sorry to be sarcastic, but give her a break.

On Topic: I think both homes were wrecked because they met each other. Obviously neither home was happy, or else they wouldn't have chosen to be together.
Who are we to judge anyway? It's not like either party is a known whore.

  26. @Ardleigh: Rachel is jewish. She wouldn't need to be celebrating the Christmas holiday with her kid, eh? It's just another regular weekend for her.
