Jim Morrison Pardon?
Way back in 1969, Jim Morrison was convicted of indecent exposure at a Florida concert. Now, outgoing Governor, Charlie Crist, is considering pardoning Jim Morrison for that crime.
“Candidly, it's something that I haven’t given a lot of thought to, but it's something I’m willing to look into in the time I have left,” said Crist. “Anything is possible.” A few years ago, Crist said that he would take a look at the case and give it a fair review. Three years later and he has said and done nothing in the case.
Despite being drunk off his ass at the concert, Morrison was cleared of public intoxication charges and also a felony charge for lewd and lascivious behavior. To be pardoned, Crist and at least two members of the Board Of Executive Clemency must vote in favor of the pardon. Their last meeting will be on December 9. Members of the board have stated they would be willing to pardon Morrison, but need the Governor to make the nomination.
Crist's term ends in January.
I'm sure that's of great comfort to him.

jesus, crist will do anything for attn.
ReplyDeletehang it up, brother.
What is the point? Also I heard Morrison was masturbating on stage, not just exposing himself. But first off who cares what he did forty years ago, and second, who cares now whether he's pardoned or not?
ReplyDeleteWhat a colossal waste of time and energy.
ReplyDeleteI'd hate to be someone who actually deserved and needed a chance at a pardon who couldn't get it because pardoning Jim Morrison was on the docket.
Ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteOur tax dollars at work.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Morrison fan and think this is a stupid waste of time and money.
@ Looserdude, I'd actually read that Morrison had taunted the crowd with threats of whipping it out and made jerking off motions, but that he never actually exposed himself. And Ray Manzarek (keyboardist for The Doors) always maintained that Morrison never exposed himself.
And that is why Crist is out. He always cared more about his name in the press than helping Florida, instead of redeeming himself on time left.
ReplyDeleteAmen Cecilia.

ReplyDeleteI co-sign with what's the point? A pardon is not going to alter his musical legacy. A why should a Governor even be allowed to pardon a deceased person?
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste of time and money
ReplyDeleteI was going to say pretty much what Mango said. No one actually saw his mojo risin'
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Crist, you orange assclown. Thanks for nothing.
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't matter...
ReplyDeleteIt's sad what politicians will do to stick there foot in the door to be part of something historical.
ReplyDeleteInstead of doing the right thing and helping people for no fanfare.
That pic is from the New Haven, CT arrest at the New Haven Arena for inciting a riot.
ReplyDeletebtw isn't this the Govenor that is secretly gay and his ex wife is sworn to secrecy about his "affairs". Or a piano will fall on her.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's ridiculous, but I will take this opportunity to spew some useless movie trivia.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie "The Doors" by Oliver Stone, in the scene where Jim gets caught in the shower backstage with Patricia, and subsequently gets maced in the face by a cop... well, the cop is played by Titus Welliver - the Man in Black from Lost - in what I believe was his first or second appearance in a full length movie.
The more you know...*L*
Thanks, Mango. Cheryl, that was hilarious. And LA Woman is my fave.
ReplyDeletehaha @Sue Ellen
ReplyDelete@Maja. With a J. - Very interesting!
