Long rumoured that Jeremy Renner is gay and closeted. If other rumors (fuled by him) that he is in line to take over the Mission Impossible franchise. Being outed as gay could really hurt him with the male straight audience.
I think it is Jeremy Renner which is a shame because he is an amazing actor. Who cares who he sleeps with? Its a shame that he has to keep his private life a secret to keep a job. GOod luck
Neil Patrick Harris is a married, openly gay man who plays a womanizer on the TV show How I Met Your Mother and honestly, it has never once crossed my mind that he is gay - because he is a great actor and owns the part. It riles me so much that men/women are forced to live these closeted lives and I for one hate these kinds of blinds. It's 2010 and I think people can handle gay movie stars. The only thing that's explosive about this is how it makes me angry.
Don't underestimate the power of homophobia and social pressure. NPH is one thing, but if a traditional action star came out, a huge number of men would stop seeing their movies to avoid being teased or for fear of being suspected to be gay.
I dunno, maybe it's my rose tinted glasses but men would stop seeing action star movies because the lead is gay? Maybe you're right... and that makes me sad. I asked my husband and his response was he didn't give a shit either way because he doesn't actually identify himself with the action stars themselves. To him they are just dudes who blow shit up for a living and are pretty much a vehicle to pass a couple of hours with noise and shit getting blown up for him and his friends. Oh and throw in some Transformers and they are happy. 'Megan who? Oh that chick in front of the cars? Yeah but did you see those f*cking cars man?'
